Good choice on the black rims for the snow tires. Kind of cool being able to change the look of the EDGE so quickly and to actually serve a purpose at the same time. The snow shots are great.
This will be my third winter in my SPORT. does very well in snow and ice pack. Best of luck.

Not sure if you have the same dome light. I know the dome is the same on the 08-10 & the 11-14's. Does the dome light on my website look like the one you have?
I am working on a way to adapt my new LED tail to work on the 08-10's but since the Tails on the 07's and earlier are physically different, I don't have a solution for them.

No need to activate or deactivate anything on your Edge with my EDGE-2 DRLs. The kit comes with its own wire harness and controller that controls all of the finctions independent of the vehicle settings. The EDGE-2 DRLs will function automatically when the ignition key is turned on and off, the same as most factory DRL systems do.

I misunderstood what my manufacturer told me. He confirmed that the photos he sent were from the LA show. We were also talking about him visiting the Tokyo Auto Salon Show in Singapore at the same time, so I thought he had taken the photo there. Good catch blitz.
-
I am still waiting for a reply, but my partner just sent me these two photos in a brief email just now. I asked him where he saw this new 2015 EDGE and hope to post his reply here soon.
Love the LED ribbon on the rear end. We have been looking at designing something similar for other vehicle brands.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. Haven't been able to check the forum as often as I would like.
Does this void the factory warranty in any way? i purchased an extended warranty and would like to know before i take the jump.
There is a federal law, Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, that prohibits manufacturers from voiding a warranty just for installing an aftermarket product a vehicle. Take a look at this article for details: http://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts.
i really wanna buy this, but i have my front turn signals act as my drl. i have a canadian edge . any one can help me with the wirings?
The installation is slightly different for the Canadian Edge with DRLs in the turn signal lights. I have attached the wiring instructions to connect the turn signal trigger wires.

The amber light bars will flash on and off once when the doors are unlocked. The white LEDs will not come on however.

Hey Tmood, Our EDGE-2 DRLs come with everything you need to install on your Edge that did not come with factory lights or wiring. As for installing puddle lights. do have the hole with a black round cover over it on the underside of the mirror? If you do, then you can install puddle lights. There is not any wiring, but you can run two wires from the mirrors into the car and connect them to the dome light circuit. (Be sure to add inline fuse protection to each mirror).
-
Norm's absolutely correct. There is a single trigger wire that would normally connect to one of the headlight wires that triggers the DRL to automatically dim to 70% when the headlights are activated. I would encourage you to not disable the dimming feature. My EDGE-2s are incredibly bright, even at 70% dimmed. You will likely have oncoming drivers flash their lights at you.
If you order a set, I would recommend going ahead and connecting the dimming trigger wire of one of the DRLs, so you can see just how bright they are when dimmed at night. You will see that they are several times brighter at 70% than the stock accent lights were.
-
Looking forward to it. To do a DIY puddle light retrofit, people need to have the 3 "T"s, the Tools, the Time & the Talent. My lights are meant for those that don't have one or more of these. You will really like my puddle lights. And with the included license plate LED replacement bulbs, you will have nice and bright uniform white light surrounding your Edge when your finished.
-
Hey Ms, Best of luck with the DIY. (sincerely)
If you run into any problems feel free to shoot me an email at info@daytimebrightlites.com. I will be happy to walk you through it. And if something goes irreparably wrong, I have 18 sets of LED puds in stock with a 2 day delivery.

I wish I could shed some light on the reason (pardon the pun), but I'm not certain why. All I know is that Nic unplugged the switchbacks and the EDGE-2s began functioning normally. It's a head-scratcher.

Here's an active post discussing this. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13177-hid-beam-pattern/?do=findComment&comment=103738

The key is to have the return wire facing towards the lower half of the reflector. The return wire shadow will appear in reverse when shining out of the lamp. So if the wire is at the bottom left of the reflector it will show up on the upper right area outside of the lamp.
-
As Dingo said, it is the driver and due to the ramping up and down of the voltage during the dimming cycle. I would suggest that you bench test your puds before you install them to make sure your LED and controller do not generate too much heat inside the pud housing. Not sure that the 1 watt LED will generate too much heat, but your controller might in combinatation with your LED. I have experimented with higher wattage LEDs in my plug and play LED puddle lights. A couple of LEDs I have tried got too hot causing the LED to fail. Granted, the puds usually only stay on for a minute or so during normal operation, but if the doors are left open, for whatever reason, the puds could remain on for 15 minutes or more until the battery saver in the vehicle automatically turns them off. And since my LED puds come with a very long warranty (as long as the customer owns the vehicle), I'm afraid that the accumulative heat effect over time will shorten the life of the lamp.

Nic figured out the reason the EDGE-2s were acting strange. He is running switchback LED bulbs and when he replaced them with the OEM bulbs, the DRLs worked perfectly.

Would I have the same wiring issues if I were to get these as I would if I would have just swapped out mine for the stock second gen tails?
I'm investigating a way to adapt the wiring of the new LED taillights (2011-2014) to the 08-10 Edge.
If I send you an LED tail, would you be willing to help me with coming with the wiring configuration? The amber turn signal portion of the tail would no longer function. The turn signal function would use the brake light LEDs. I'm going to shoot you a PM as well.

I was one of the first to purchase these. I have NOT installed them yet so the question is should I? What is the percentage of units with bad plugs?
Thanks
Hey Tom, Out of the 250+ EDGE-2 DRL kits I have sold, we have had 9 come back with moisture failures. To some that may not seem like very many, but one is too many for me. Tom, I will be happy to exchange your uninstalled kit for another one with the waterproofing measures applied. Just shoot me an email. (info@daytimebrightlites.com)
I know Dan mentioned specs, but, as I have been a very fond user of both versions and have seen both of them illuminate my white garage door many times...
I think the v1 is perceptually brighter as it has a vertically concentrated single light pattern and more "group" focused LEDs. If you look at the beam pattern on the v1s, it is a single focused vertical hotspot. They are also closer to 4500-5000k in color.
V2s are definitely closer to 6000k (if not slightly above) in color. The light also has a much wider horizontal spread of individual vertical beams (imagine a prism) and therefore perceptually is not as bright. The beam pattern is much less "group" focused than v1 as they are really individual beams of light from each led.
Admittedly, I think the brightestt light (just my opinion) would be the v1 Phillips module with v2s amber turn signal.
It's hard to compare "brightness" as the beam pattern and color temp are quite different. Very difficult to compare apples to apples.
But, lets summarize... V1s were twice as much as v2s (thanks Dan! ) and both are a tremendous improvement to OEM. You can't go wrong either way.
Again, this is just my $0.02 and you'd be prudent to buy any of Dan's products!
C, your take is right on the money. I hate answering the brightness comparison question, because there really isn't a short answer. The beam spread really is the key. The v1 beamspread is highly focused directly in front of the car, but the light level falls off dramatically as the viewing angle increeases. I estimate the beam angle on the v1s to be at about 45 degrees, while the v2s are close to 120 degrees.
I just wanted to say thanks to dan for the great customer service . It's not to often you have a company go out of there way to make sure your completely satisfied with there product. Thanks a lot
I appreciate the kind words about our service. I want everyone to have an enjoyable buying experience with us and with our products, even when a problem comes up.

Yep, the tails are available to order now by sending me an email at info@daytimebrightlites.com.
As for the observations about the black cat and running over the corners of my neighbor's yard in my video, I never noticed the black cat was even in it. Very funny.
Now to Is's comment about the the neighbor's yard. As with my golf game, I tend to use the entire course. However, if you pay close attention to the video, I am hitting the apex in the turn perfectly!

9012 is the exact bulb type, but 9006 is the next best alternative and finally the 9005.

Hey DB, Glad your back up and running. Made plenty of rookie mistakes in my time. The key is to learn from them so they don't turn into veteran mistakes. I make plenty of those as well ;-).
