  1. I only did a very small few parts of the total install. It is not even comparable to the stock setup. You can't even make day and night look that far apart. The 3Sixty.3 is incredible and I am very glad to have gone through with that upgrade. It was a harder decision than some of the other stuff because of the cost but I would say it is worth every penny.

@Markf...I had them put the main 2 gauge power line fuse in the space between the battery and the primary fuse box next to the battery. I will be more than happy to try and shoot some photos of the area where the wire runs through the firewall. I'll post here in the same thread so it will be easy to find.

  2. I don't see why we can't just post up a new topic in the lounge. Ive just assumed that is what's there for all along. I think you have some good ideas but honestly, I would rather not be in charge of it! :). I would be glad to co-chair on it though. I think we should go ahead and do a post and see what the interest is for the fall since it doesn't seem to be cooling down that much. You might be correct though. It is probably too late. We could certainly get out ahead on a Spring rally. I think it would be a complete blast to get out and drive with a bunch of Edge owners. Who knows how much interest we will have until we start. Let me know if you want to start a new topic of if you prefer me to do it and we will get started.

My current motorcycle is a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R. However, I did most of those rides on my 2004 Yamaha FZ1 with the add on fairing for the wind protection. No way would I ride more than about 200 miles in one trip on my Ninja. That would be very painful!

  3. Audio Control LC6i

    Bump!!!

This controller works great on the Edge after the Sony amp. It can accept a bunch of the channels that come thru your Sony and thus allowing you to hook up aftermarket speakers for the front and rear doors. There is also a channel for two subwoofers. This is exactly what you need if you want to upgrade your sound without breaking the bank on $700 and $800 controllers. This particular model was installed in the rear right fender near the Sony amp in my Edge for about three months. It worked out famously. I had no problem with the unit and rather liked it. However, I have some kind of "itis" that makes me feel as though I should always be upgrading. It's a dangerous and expensive illness. Anyhow, they list for $149 and is on Amazon for around $119. I'll practically give this puppy away for the first $85 that heads my way. It's in prefect condition. PM me if you want it. I'll go with the first message. I added some info on the unit below for your reading pleasure.

Build a system around your factory radio

AudioControl's LC6i processor allows you to add aftermarket amps, speakers, and subs to your factory radio, so you can enjoy better sound without losing factory features. It accepts speaker-level signals from your factory radio or amplifier, so you can use it with any system.

    Inputs and outputs

The LC6i features six speaker-level inputs that let you connect amplified signals, including multi-wire cables from Bose® and other premium factory systems up to 400 watts. The LC6i sums all the signals you send it, even if they're actively crossed over by your factory system, so you get a strong, full-range signal for your processors and amps. The LC6i features six RCA preamp outputs that'll handle the traditional front/rear/sub setup.
    Level matching is a breeze

AudioControl couldn't make it much easier to set up your system. Just set your factory stereo to about 3/4 of its maximum volume, and turn the output level control of the LC6i until the "Maximized" light begins to flicker. Adjust the gain controls on your amps and you're done. You've just matched your levels, so you can count on getting maximum performance and minimum noise from your amp setup.
    Convenience

The optional dash-mount subwoofer controller allows you to adjust the level of your sub channel on the go. The speaker-level inputs sense incoming signals and turn on the LC6i, while a built-in 12-volt trigger tells your amps or other gear to turn on.

  4. Pioneer Shallow Mount TS-SW301S/2. Retail on this sub is $179. Amazon is about $70 plus shipping. From me it will go for only $50 plus a few greenbacks for shipping!!! It was only mounted and used for less than three months. I added ridiculous amounts of power so I had to go to the speaker that is right above this one in the Pioneer shallow mount line.

This is an amazing shallow mount sub that can easily fit in a box in your spare tire area. They are nice and shallow. There are plenty of other mounting options with this little dude.

  5. Maybe, can you give me a name of a town where we can start from and maybe we can work on a route from there, to Blue Ridge Parkway, and a town where we can finish our journey, because if we stay on parkway, we will end up in VA. I'm thinking just the North Carolina section is about 240+ miles, then another 220+ miles into Virginia, where the Blue Ridge Parkway joins the Skyline Drive. Is this Rally to be a 1-2-3-or more day journey?? The best time see the fall folige is mid to late October, and I know from visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway during "peak leaf season", the Parkway can become very crowded. When looking at how far to travel, just remember that the speed limit on the Parway is 35-45 MPH, and some times even slower.

I've done a large portion of that drive on my motorcycle. Even when the leaves are green it's still a great drive. Probably top 5 in the US. This is just my opinion but if there is large interest you can certainly make changes. My preference would be starting somewhere near the town Hiawassee, GA and go up from there. On a drive like that it would be prefer to stay away from rally style. That might get dangerous and with all the traffic it would be nothing but miles of frustration. Maybe two or three nights. Feel free to take this on as a project and head it up. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at all the interest.

  6. So, Dingo and I had a very informal Ford Edge meet this past weekend (9-14 and 9-15) in the northern suburbs of Atlanta. We had a ton of fun comparing our 2011 Edge Sports. On a personal note, I have to say that Dingo is quite the innovative individual and can fabricate just about anything. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't improve the design of the latest US nuclear submarine in his own garage in the very near future. Keep your eyes peeled for his future mods and ideas. I would expect anything!

Anyhow, we had a blast turning heads while running our Edge's around the town one in front of the other. From a short distance they look very similar and people probably thought they were seeing double at times. The big time was at the car wash. I can't imagine how much fun it could be if we had about 20 modded out Edges running around together. We took a few pictures so I am posting a couple of my favorites here in this post. More can be found in my gallery if you are interested. Please feel free to let me know if you have an interest in a Fall or Winter meet in the Atlanta area and maybe we can put a big event together. Enjoy the pics!

  7. Specificwlly speaking, you are correct that the SEL doesnt have the harness for the vertical lights. However, there are other instances where there are harnesses going to neverland. My sport

has a harness for the towing package yet that wasnt an option at the purchase. I suppose most of it has to do with cost. I still think there is a good chance the side mirror plugs may be there. I would certainly be interested to know.

  8. can someone please give me the proper instructions for loading a custom tune onto the 3.7l sport with the push button start? Everything I have tried so far has ended up requiring a recovery file sent back my way from SCT because loading the tune causes the engine to barely run if at all. Then I cant even do a return to stock load from the SCCT device. Does loading the tune require one to hold the start button down the whole time it is loading?

Any help would be mas appreciated.

  9. I took out the spare a long time ago. I run a special viscous sealer kind of like slime but it's sold thru dealers. I"m part owner of a car dealership and that would be one of the perks. I have a fast inflator and another can of fix a flat in the edge for emergencies. When/if I get a flat I'm just calling Ford roadside service for a flatbed because it's an AWD model. I never planned to mess with putting a spare tire on a lowered AWD Edge even when I had the tire available.

The total investment for all the equipment I listed that you see in the pics and some stuff you don't see in the pics is around $4500. That includes the Escort 9500xi radar detector and the laser jammer equipment that was installed. The new RF 3Sixty.3 OEM integration unit alone lists for $699. That's before one even gets to the amps, speakers, wiring, and box building. It adds up quickly!

I'll post up a pic in a few minutes of how my Edge looks from the outside in a moment. I'm using my iPad to reply and I don't see that option here. I'll just pull out the laptop.

  10. I finally finished my audio upgrades and am very happy with where we are on everything now. It took three months and tons of patience. Big props to Dealer Options in Augusta, Georgia for all the great innovation and hard work.

    Here is the run down....

I have rockford fosgate T2 component speakers in the front and in the rear passenger area, and Infinity 3.5" 329cf speakers in the center channel and the D-pillars in the back. Then below are the pics of all the stuff in the back area. The Infinity speakers are run off of a small Rockford Fosgate PBR 300.4. The two sets of T2 component speakers are running off of a Rockford Fosgate Punch 500.2 amp at 2 ohms for a bit of extra power. The original Sony 8" sub was replaced by a 10" Pioneer SW-301 in a modified box that still hides behind the original panel. That sub is running off of a Rockford Fosgate Punch 300.1 mono amp. In the cargo area there is a box in the spare tire area which holds two Pioneer SW-301 12" shallow mount subs both running off of a Rockford Fosgate Punch 700.1bd amp. Finally, I have the new Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 as the OEM integration piece that handles the signals from the factory Sony amp. Pictures below.
