  1. I'm diggin the 2013 SHO wheels now
  2. Aside from wrapping, painting or swapping out to a Sport grille, are there any aftermarket alternatives out there for a different grille? For example the seemingly endless options on the Escalade, Yukon, etc. (I realize the Edge is still a bit 'new' in it's redesign compared to these 2). I think something like an Audi style grille would look great on the Edge. Thanks in advance.
  3. Has anybody gotten any solid answer to the OP's question? I'm also interested in going wide, staying on stock suspension. Ideally at least 9.5, 10" max. Probably stay with 20's though to keep the weight down over 22's. What about a staggered setup (adverse affects?) like this on a Sportage (9 in front, 10.5 in rear). For a Kia this rocks: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/kia/2010-kia-sportage-by-antenna-magazine-ar99369/picture380140.html
  4. +1 looks great! You wouldn't happen to know the weight difference between the OEM Limited 20's and the SHO 20's would ya?
  5. ^Yep, for the price I suppose you can't beat it.
  6. What has been your difference in gas mileage, roughly? I'm interested in moving to 22's as well - Ride quality and MPG are my main holdups. You've addressed concern #1 above. Thx
  7. +1, great job! What I like the most is the smallest part - the badges on the back look great blacked out. Curious how this product would stand up to the brutal AZ sun after a couple years, anybody know?
  8. Just got and installed my K&N drop in filter on my '11 Limited. Did anyone else have a tough time getting the airbox lid closed and secured with the 2 metal clasps? Obviously you want to be sure you have an airtight closure here.
  9. Very nice. Don't forget this is a rendering so the wheels may not come out exactly as pictured. That said, I DO like them and want 'em! Also annoying to see that they are making the front grille body colored as an upgrade/package. This is something I've wanted to do before I even got my Tri Coat Edge Limted - plastic chrome is nasty. But the Sport Grille with those wheels would look hot.
  10. Does the position of the return wire (aside from casting an unwanted shadow) have any bearing on the light output, beam pattern etc? ie is there a position it needs to be in for optimal output/beam pattern? I suppose I could just trim the tabs ALOT more so that it could fit in any way I wanted it to if that was the case. Just seems like I'm taking something that is a science and hacking away at it to make it fit, regardless of outcome.
  11. For the record, the 9006 bulbs in this kit, even with trimming, WILL NOT FIT 2011+ FORD EDGE correctly. The return wire shadow is a problem and is not solved by rotating the bulb. After hours of trying to make this work and calls with The Retrofit Source they simply said "We've made a note that this kit will not work with 2011+ Edges or Explorers." I'm stuck with removing the installed kit, holes in the back of my bulb covers and the cost of return shipping on a "premium, quality" product that they obviously didn't do their due diligence on before recommending it for our trucks. Lovely.

  13. Just installed The Retrofit Source Elite 9006 HID Kit in my '11 Limited. Being 9006 bulbs I did have to trim one tab on each bulb to fit in the OEM housings. That said, I believe the 'bar' that runs along the outside of the bulb is on the underside (or the top, I can't remember ) of the bulb, which is my best guess as to what's causing this? Problem is the bulbs seem to only go in one way and it was a bitch to get them in at all frankly, so I'm not sure it's as simple as 'just rotate them a little'. Fixes? From 13 feet away From 25 feet away From 25 feet away
  14. Thanks Dr. Before I go through the PITA and the skinned fingers again I wanted to be sure it could be done without trimming. So once seated your beam patters and cut off are good no issues?
  15. For those that went with the 9006 bulbs, did you get a correct fit and proper beam pattern? I'm have a helluva time trying to get my 9006 bulbs fit into the housing (from The Retrofit Source). I can get 2 to catch but not the 3rd. Its really difficult because I cannot see what I'm doing its all done blindly. Do I have to trim the bulb tabs on the 9006?
  16. Thanks, I'll take a look. Does anyone know where to find the wheel weight for the OEM 20" chrome clad wheel, the 22" sport wheel and the 20" Explorer wheel?
  17. No not due to blue tabs on stock connector - the male prongs on the TRS supplied connector do not match up with the OEM female inputs.
  18. Yep thats what kept happening - I'd get 2 in and 1 would be out. I messed with this for over an HOUR to no avail. My fingers are all skinned up from trying to contort them in there and get them seated....it all has to be done blindly. With HIDs does the bar pictured below have to be orientated a certain way? The bigger problem I suppose is the 2 connections pictured at the top not matching up.
  19. So after much research I pulled the trigger on a kit that The Retrofit Source recommended for my 2011 Edge Limited, the 35 watt 9006 Elite Kit with a stand alone can bus. http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=3957 So I'm well into the install today and the bulbs simply won't fit into the housings like the OEM do. The tabs are obviously different sizes. Is this normal? I've seen a lot of Retrosolutions kit installs by others which are 9012 bulbs - why the variation in bulbs? (9006 vs 9012, etc). I get that both may be suitable replacements for our OEM H1R2 bulb but is one better and why? Edit: To be specific, I could get 2 of the tabs to 'seat' in, not a third though. Seems to me this would make for a beam that is not aligned properly. On top of that, I did a test fit of all the other connections and the OEM connection to the halogen bulb will not connect to the TRS supplied connector (See below) I'm calling them tomorrow, but unless I've totally missed something I'm disappointed so far. Spent a good hour getting both OEM bulbs back in the damn housings. Thanks for any insight!
  20. Not sure what the claim would be, unless you're suggesting I make something up along the lines of "I ran over road debris"? Damned drive thru exit has a 45 degree right turn at the very end of it - I know 2 other people that have done the same thing here. Another reason NOT to eat McDonald's! mrDave, not interested in anything under 20" but thanks for the heads up.
  21. Ok, it's a REALLY bad Friday. Just picked up my used '11 Limited 4 days ago, got it detailed tinted you name it. In the exit of a very tight drive thru lane today I hit a curb and did this to my front driver side wheel. Simply wasn't paying enough attention. I've managed to be able to hammer the stupid plastic back down so now it just looks rashed instead of a recently opened can of soup. I know there are no replacements for this glorified hubcap and I'm paying for a new one. I've seen an Edge on this forum with the 20" Explorer wheels and I think it looks good but read that it required wheel spacers. Aside from that, does anyone know of any other differences? Wheel/tire weights? I'd like to keep the rolling mass to a minimum. While we're at it what are the weights of the 22's on the Sports, just good to know. Also has anyone seen what the wheel looks like behind the plastic overlay. If they are the same design, which I doubt, I'd consider PVD'ng them: http://www.americanpvd.com/ Thanks in advance for shining some light on this gloomy day!
  22. Thanks All. I dig the antenna a the link you provided. Do you by chance have a photo of this on your Edge?
  23. I noticed this too in the latest 2012 Ecoboost commercial. A Limitied is shown and it has the black rocker panel/running boards. Don't ya hate that feeling when you have the year prior! Still love my Edge though.
  24. I'm not in love with the long antenna. Did a search and didn't find anything so I'm curious if anyone has tried anything else, perhaps like these? Is there a functional reason NOT to replace the stock antenna? For the record I do not have navi or a Sirius subscription if that matters. I had a 350Z at one time and has the same issue. A common fix by Z owners was to take the shorty antenna from an S2000 or Element and replace it - result was a 'that's how it should have came from the factory' look.
  25. Last weekend flew to San Diego to pick up a used 2011 Limited I found on Craigslist: 15k miles Platinum White Tri Coat 20" Wheel upgrade Tow Package $27,500 private party Lovin it.
