  1. That 5 dollar foot long commercial is really getting under my skin, especially when my wife saw it and said that I had $2.87!!! Now that was crushing.
  2. I have an 07 FWD Edge SEL Plus. The only option I don't have is the power lift gate and the navigation system. I drive every week on the highway, I travel 4 States now. I get 24.9 avg, most of the time, yes this is mostly highway but does include some city. I have gotten as much as 25.3 avg on a tank of fuel. I bought this vehicle new in October. Again I travel 4 States and am on the highway daily. I have no clue what it does in the city, I live in a suburb of St Louis and the city driving is the Highway. I use Ford 5w20 Semi Synthetic Oil and try and use BP Fuel Premium Grade. I am very pleased. I am 46 years old and drive the limit or slightly higher, I rarely jack rabbit start and yes some of you would say I drive like an old man. Well maybe I do, But I certainly get good gas mileage.
  3. Thanks for the good question. I also was wondering that. I run mine in Auto 99% of the time and leave it set to around 67 68 69ish. When it is good and warm inside the A/C light comes on by itself. About the only thing I touch is the Seat Warmers. Oh by the way. I just drove from Moscow Mills MO to Champaign IL. I got 25.7 avg MPG. I always run B-P Premium Fuels and drive with my foot and NOT the cruise control. I can nurse the heck out of fuel in this baby. My AVG MPH was 47. Then again I am 47 years old and drive conservatively. I punch it when I need to, and occasionally like twisty roads at the brink of disaster speeds. This is No sports car but for a 4800 lbs vehicle it is a lot of fun. I have noticed that driving 65 mph does not achieve good fuel economy.
  4. I agree with Brucesmays. I were polarized sunglasses and it goes away. I have Meguiars goop all over the interior. My bride puts it on there, looks good but I hate that greasy feel.
  5. Bulldog I would agree and can only hope these are better made, however I seriously doubt it. The Powder Coating on my aluminum blistered and came off leaving the Aluminum bare and it tarnished. While they were checking these wheels of mine they were rotating also. I wanted to see what the deal is with the Chrome Cover Piece and it is in Fact Metal contrary to popular belief of plastic. I have 15K on my Edge and plan to run these wheels through next winter and see how they do. Then I will probably purchase some after market wheels, if these turn out the same way. I like your Icon. I have many Harley Rings and chokers with that similar Skull Head on it. Too many according to the Misses.
  6. I have modified 4 F150's all 5.4's with exhaust, FIPK and chips or programmers. I received nothing more than an extraction of money from my wallet. The sound was appealing and all four seemed to feel more responsive, however any claims of HP increase could not be verified by the seat of my pants. 10% increase is hard to feel no mater who you are. I enjoyed modifying all my previous Trucks some cars and my Bikes. I get 23-24 mpg all the time with my 07 Edge SEL+, MPH average is usually 45mph. And yes that is a lot of Highway. How else can you get an MPH average of 45 without being on the highway a great deal. I noticed on every single one of my FIPK kits that when cleaning my filter there was always a fine dust film inside the Tube. I really enjoy K&N products in the right application, however on my daily driver I would just as soon not draw dirt into my engine. Before you dispute this claim take an oil sample to a CAT Dealer or some other place that does oil analysis and see for yourself what the dirt levels are after running an Open Air Cotton filter an a straight intake tube. I have done this several times and always had high levels of dirt with recommendations to change air filter and retest at half intervals. They just simply aren't good for a daily driver, unless you enjoy washing your rings out of the engine.
  7. All four of my wheels are being replaced by Bill Greer Ford in Sedalia MO where I bought my Edge. Service Manager looked at it and said no problem. :stats:
  8. Glad you pointed this out! I just checked mine and they are all mounted with OUTSIDE on the outside. I have the Continentals also, mine are the ones that came on the Edge when I bought it. Good info!!! I'm glad I checked mine. I hate continentals, I would rather have Michelin.
  9. I also have an 07 edge with the wonderful chrome clad wheels.............NOT! Mine are corroding also. I think that wonderful chrome clad piece is trapping containments and causing this problem. I have had mine since Oct and I have 13,900 miles on mine and all four wheels look like crap. I am going tomorrow to see the dealer. When I bought my vehicle I knew the Chrome Clad was a plastic piece glued to the wheel. I thought it would be alright. Boy was I wrong!
  10. You are correct, My post was incorrect. You must open the door before they unlock. My Bad, sorry for the confusion.
  11. There is a Black Plastic Trim Ring that goes around the rear sun roof. This piece is held up there by Velcro. The velcro does NOT stay glued to the Body, Glass Surface! Mine did the same thing and Ford gave me a tube of Contact Adhesive and I fixed it my self. There is several places around this trim ring that has velcro and I glued them all. NO problems since and it has been several COLD months ago. There is a TSB on this and it has already been mentioned. Look under TSB updates section in this forum and it will explain it there also. If your dealer is NOT lazy they can look it up also, and it clearly explains how to fix it, and no the headliner does NOT have to come out to fix it. I know this because I fixed it myself without taking the headliner down.
  12. Mine is the same way. Containments caught between the Chrome Cover and the Aluminum wheel causing the aluminum to corrode. I wonder if they will allow me to purchase the ALL CHROME 20's instead of going back with these chump $hit wheels.
  13. Now I am confused! Do they unlock in the autounlock or lock in the autolock, or is it unlock in lock and lock in unlock. When the feature is activated mine has to hit 12 miles per hour to auto lock all doors and when I stop, put in park, and take the key out all my doors unlock, even the rear hatch. Maybe it's because mine is Orange, kinda like what I have for a brain...............an Orange!
  14. Thanks Kirby I personally don't know where to find the owners manual on line but I bet I could find it if I tried real hard. I would also say thanks.
  15. Good Lord in Heaven why are people so mean to one another? The answer is NO! there is NO Oil Reminder like you may have had on a previous vehicle. However Trip odometer B can be used for this function. Or A if you wish. I always use the 3 system. If you can divide the mileage evenly by 3 then it is time to change the oil. I change my oil every 3,000 miles. 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27 etc, you get the picture I am sure. If you go by 5,000 then simply divide by 5. What if you are at work or in a Motel and you are on the 21st floor and have your pajamas on and simply are browsing this forum and the thought crosses your mind, "hey is there an Oil Change Reminder on my new Edge" so you post the question and you get a response that makes you feel like crap for asking! Hey Sonny, I still live by your statement! You treat people the way you want to be treated, until they treat you differently, and then you treat them according!!!!
  16. Good observation Lex. I bet you are correct. I am 5' 11" and have my seat set pretty far back however not all the way back. My has been working fine, but I would bet you are right and that there is a limit to how far back the setting is before it will activate. Most of the time I am out of the car before mine stops moving back. Hey Lex did you ever hook up your Radar Detector under the roof lining using the Yellow wire with Green tracer? Just wondered.
  17. Motor Oil is Motor Oil! That being said, Additives are what makes the difference, and there are a plethora of differences! Ford Motor Company does NOT make oil. They go out for bids using their specs. Low Bidder wins, and produces Motorcraft Motor Oil. Currently Valvoline has the contract. As far as 5W-20W if Ford thought the engine they made needed something else they would state that. However as long as what you use meets or exceeds their specs then go for it. Motor Oil Brands cause as many fights as Politics, Religion, and Nascar. I use what Ford says to use and I have it changed at a Ford dealership. Why? Because if there is ever an issue I have proof of intervals and oil use. Just my own little personal piece of mind I guess. Heck Fire for 36.99 you get the oil changed and the overall inspection. I don't want to waller around on the Garage Floor and clean up the mess then dispose of the oil properly for 37 bucks. I have owned many Fords for many many years now. I have modified several and gained ZIP except loss of MY MONEY. You aren't supposed to drive over 70/75 mph in most states anyway. Claims about this and that are simply claims. They are sales people trying to sell YOU what They make and try to justify their claim anyway they can. I guess I am just getting old! My Edge is Bone Stock! It has 12,000 miles on it, since October of 2007. I just made a trip to Cape Girardeau MO and over into IL and got 23.4 Overall mileage on this tank of Gas. Many Backroads through Cape and into Il over to Buncombe IL. I am very well pleased with my mileage and my Edge. The vehicle you own is yours and you can do whatever you wish with it. As for me and my Edge we are sticking with Ford Products. Just my Opinion, I am certain you all have yours and I respect that!
  18. Unfortunately I believe Ford only is obligated to repair this and not replace. I would be furious, I would want another vehicle, I would also want a million dollars and a pet monkey, but unfortunately Ford is not that kind of Genie. That really bites................I am such a freak about my vehicles that I would be sick and never feel satisfied with a repaint job on a new vehicle.
  19. I have seen the Bubbling on several Fords with these Chrome Clad wheels, mine has not done it yet but I am expecting it to do so. What I have noticed is the Etching of the rim due to trapped contaminants between the Chrome Cover and the wheel lip. Very bad design on these wheels in my opinion, very bad. I am at 11,000 miles and very happy with my Edge except for these Cheap Pee Poor Wheels and Continental Tires.
  20. That very last picture appears to have black paint on the rubber seal. Maybe that is just the way I looked at it. I would return that machine and get my money back. I personally would never be happy if they repaint the vehicle. This is a real travesty, every person that touched that vehicle on the line had to notice some of that thin paint. Especially the guy that put the door seals on the vehicle. How could QC miss all that and allow the vehicle out the door. I have seen this before on some vehicles but none of them were Fords.
  21. There are also many items that are on battery saver that won't turn off until 15 minutes after the Ignition switch is turned off. I ran my Valentine One hook up under the head liner and used the yellow with a Green Tracer for my hot wire. When I turn the ignition off the Detector stays on for roughly 15 minutes then turns off. You are right about the fuse block. With the ignition off only the battery side will show hot, with the ignition on both sides will show hot. Fuses don't have switches in them, they are just a break point in case of overload. Please note my Yellow with green tracer is by the Sunroof Switches. you may not have that wire without the roof. The Auto Mirror and Map lights are to low watts to carry the load of a detector. I learned that the hard way with my old Valentine and my old Escape.
  22. I did not know there was a choice on Models. I simply ordered direct from Valentine a Valentine One Detector 399.00 plus an extra Cord. It arrived Friday about 6pm and it is smaller than the one I bought in 99 that my son has. I assume it is the latest greatest that Valentine has to offer. I do not want to bash the Escort Passport 8500 X50 but I was used to my old Valentine and since my son has it I felt naked running down the road without any Detector. I read several tests from online sources and they all said that the Passport 8500 X50 performed right with the new Valentine One and since it was 100.00 less I thought it was great. I bought one and was unfamiliar and thought it went off more often than it should especially since I could rarely find the law when it reported a threat. What really gave it away was the alarms in rural areas where the was nothing to set it off. I don't understand why it reported a threat on a two lane road with nothing around but cows and the occasional Farm house. That is when I connected both of them in my Edge and went for a drive. I left them together in my edge for three days and even drove to Springfield IL and back through downtown St Louis back to home out here in the sticks of Lincoln County MO. The passport continually reported threats that I could not find, maybe they were door openers or something, however the Valentine stayed Idle. When the Valentine went off it was clear that Johnny Law was around because I could see them. I don't understand why they both reported when I was following an Envoy that kept hitting the brakes, but both of them reported RADAR when that happened. Even switching sides of the car made no difference. I obtained the same results. So like I said I took the Passport back to Best Buy and paid their bullshit 15% restocking fee of 46 dollars and ordered the Valentine One. My son was very glad to get his back, he is 24 and has a Toyota Prerunner SR5 TRD with a Super Charger on it and he also has a lead foot. What the dead give away was, is that on Highway 61 North of I-70 we have several Speed alert contraptions that set still, are solar powered and give your speed and the occasional Slow Down Warning. The Valentine gave an alert before the crest of a hill and the passport was silent. When I crested the hill and could clearly see the Speed Alert the passport came on. But that would be to late. When you Crest that Hill you can read the words on the sign, that is how close you are at that point. I could have easily been busted if that had been the law, strickly using the passport. My wife said that damn thing is worthless, lets get another Valentine. The rest is history. Does Valentine offer another model? I can't find one on their website. SRE
  23. Okay I stand corrected! I had the Escort 8500 X50 for two weeks. I noticed a ton of false alarms. Driving in Rural conditions I received many alarms and even a few Radar. I was very suspicious so I borrowed the Valentine I gave my son that I bought in 1999. I put the Valentine on the side of the Driver and the Passport 8500 X50 on the passenger side. I made certain they had all the room possible between them. I mounted them both high on the windshield and again made certain of no obstructions. Just what I thought, Escort drew several alarms the valentine never went off. No threat to be found. I switched sides with the detectors and again the same thing, Passport goes off, no threat to be found. I traveled some Major roads in the greater STL area. Valentine goes off and the passport goes off a hair later. Johnny law passes by in the oncoming lane. I have several speed alerts on Highway 61 north of I-70 where I live. Valentine alerts me of a K band threat, Passport Nothing. I crest the hill and there it is one of those speed alerts. They both freak. Although the Valentine went off before the crest of the hill. Had that been Johnny Law I would have been busted with the Passport. The only thing I did notice was that both alerted RADAR when traveling behind an Envoy using it's brakes lights. I had to pay Best Buy a 15% restocking fee for the Passport and promptly ordered the a New Valentine. I should have known better but I thought the tests I read were good and I would be happy with the Passport X50. Turns out I was wrong. I travel three States in the Midwest. I am on the highway daily. I rarely speed, maybe 5 over the posted limit. However when traveling back roads and going through small towns that have 40 mph limits I like to know if Johnny Law is around because I often forget to lower my speed from 60 to 40 in these areas. I am certainly no expert and do not claim to be. In my crude test I found the Valentine to be more sensitive, Much more sensitive without false alerts. The only thing I liked about the Passport X50 is the Auto Mute. Other than that I learned an expensive lesson. Valentine you have my vote and my Sincere Apology! SRE
  24. My Edge Mirrors fold both ways, however if you hit the garage door backing out I am not certain they would clear. They fold Flat if you pull them toward you while setting in the seat and they fold back as if you were setting in the seat and pushed them away from you, however pointed forward they do not fold flat as if folding backward. Or is it Backward they fold flat and forward not all the way. Ah $hit now I'm confused! They swivel both ways on my, maybe my Edge is a switch hitter. If it is I am dumping it. I'm not into that activity.
