  1. I have been to the Marysville OH Honda plant on many occasions and notice Ford, Gm and Chrysler products in that parking lot. So what is the point? I have toured the Corvette Factory in Bowling Green KY also and rarely see a Corvette in the employee lot. However, go by Ford's Truck plant in Kansas City and it is full of Ford trucks.
  2. Man I switched gears!!! I never thought it would happen because back in 1999 when I bought my first Valentine One it was the Mack Daddy. I did some research and found that the Escort 8500 X50 has identical performance on X, which isn't used any more, K, and Ka bands as well as 1/10 mile less than valentine on Radar. 1/10 mile. I really don't care about the Bogey counter, however the Escort 8500 X50 has that feature also, even though it is slightly different, and it has Auto Mute which I am certain I will enjoy. Yeah I am a big time believer in Valentine but I just bought an Escort. I had an Original Escort back in the 80's and still have it. I had the original Passport and wish I could buy one in excellent condition with all the stuff that came with it, I even had an Original Solo that ran on a 9 volt battery, wish I could find one of those also. Sorry Mike, I just couldn't see 399 vs 299 for the same performance and auto mute feature. The Escort also comes with a Box to travel with, a concealed display, and the hard mount is only 29.99. Add all that up for your Valentine and you get a tidy sum of 500.00 plus. Maybe I am stupid and will regret this later but for now I am very pleased with my decision.
  3. Grey said it all. That is exactly what I would do also and that should definitely work. Your dealer can also look up the VIN and that will give Key Code and should give door unlock code also. A hospital is a big building with lots of patiences in it, and stop calling me Shirley. Good Luck we are all counting on you.
  4. Okay Good-Hands old buddy let me tell you what to do about that Thermometer. The sensor located on the rear cargo hatch is called an Auto Vib Transducer. The thermometer gets a reading from the AVT and multiplies it by 32, then ands 16, then dived's it by 12, that number is sent to the computer and transposed into a degree. That degree has an algorithm that changes it up and down as the temp changes. If your bass is to high on your radio the AVT can change as much as 4 degrees depending on what side of the Mason Dixon Line you are on and what magnetic deviation you have set the compass to, hence causing a miss calculation in the actual temperature of your Read out. The appropriate fix according to FORD is to realign your dash with Magnetic North, then have all four tires balanced and reposition the AVT so that the license plate doesn't interfere with the Cargo Lift option and then you must drive the Edge in circles to recalibrate the magnetic north output and turn the radio all the way up to it's maximum setting then back down to Minimum then off. This all must be done in 18 seconds of each procedure or you will have to start over until you get it right. Based on my vast experience with CAR repair, I can assure you that this will cure the problem. If you run into trouble call me and I will help you out. I also have a gnarly set of tools because my DAD is a TV repair man, and I can fix it! Good Luck Mr Hand we are all counting on you.
  5. I agree many things can happen. The one that would scare me the most is Stopping. The Edge already has sluggish brakes so adding the max towing trailer would bother me a bit.
  6. Hey Edgieguy I use the brush attachment when vacuuming. Works great dusting the dash, actually gets the cracks and crevices also. It is that real soft brush attachment, mine actually came with my Kirby and is made of Horse Hair. Round attachment, long bristles, does a great job. Just thought I would pass that on to you as an option when doing the interior.
  7. No I had mine on the windshield so as not to affect the Valentine with the tint strip on the top part of the Windshield. I mounted mine right under the rear view mirror so the Valentine had good visibility both back and front and HOPEFULLY NOT interfere in the event of a collision with an occupants head. My Edge is an SEL + and has dark back glass, so I already have decreased sensitivity from behind. There are wires that COULD be tied into right under the Rear View Mirror, however you must use the Valentine Supplied Hard Wire Kit and that would look like $hit hanging down there. Good Luck whatever you decide.
  8. Your dealer has lied to you! Every new car that is delivered has a packet in it with Keys, Owners Manual, some build papers, etc. Now maybe yours was given to someone else or lost and they have ordered a new one for you, that hasn't arrived yet, so maybe they didn't lie after all, they just didn't tell you the whole truth. I would be pi$$ed. Stay after them and get that manual.
  9. On My Edge with the power roof the yellow wire with green tracer is hot on ignition and has the battery saver on it also, so it shuts off about 15 minutes after I turn off the ignition. Simply run the wire up under the head liner and tie it in right under the Power block where the controls for the Map Lights and Sunroof controls are. Nice and clean.
  10. That is strange, Honda Corporation doesn't allow their cars to be sold to Rental Franchises as to keep the market strong on their cars. That dealer must have those cars as Demo's or they paid for them and own them themselves.
  11. I have used the peanut butter solution and yes it does work. But it made me hungry for a PBJ and I didn't finish the job. MKX Buy Meguiar's Heavy Duty Vinyl cleaner. Also called Meguiar's 39, probably $9.00 that will certainly take the chaulky shit off of the black Vinyl. Most those other products just cover it up and it always comes back. By the way MKX I am going to do a poll. Do people prefer to walk to school or take their lunch? What do ya think?
  12. The inventor of the escort is Mike Valentine, he and his partner sold the Company, Cincinnati Microwave, and had a non compete for a few years. Mike started just making intrusion alarms and some of his people wanted back into the radar detector business. Mike agreed with one stipulation, build the best of the best and price it accordingly. Make it upgradeable, and stay on top of the market. So the Valentine One was born. I have one and my son grabbed it up. I am buying another one, as a matter of a fact thanks for the reminder. I'm going to buy one today. Thanks. I know these things because I was in Cincy and drove to his office. He was very cordial and we visited in his office. I have sent him some old Escorts that I have found here and there and he fixes them for me. Just so I can have an Old Escort in working order. I am looking for the original Passport and the original Solo also. Anyone have one??? My vote for the Valentine is mostly because Mike has been there and knows what works and what doesn't, he also puts the best of the best components into his detector so it will last. He isn't concerned with everyone owning one for a Price Point, he simply builds the best their is and if you want it fine, if you don't, then buy another brand! His wealth is NOT in Jeopardy of Radar Detector Sales. I have owned one for 11 years now, I am finally getting the latest one available. I could have upgraded the one my son has many times in 11 years but never wanted to be without it I guess. I've been winging it for about 2 months now. It's time, Hello Mike.
  13. Yeah but Spicole's Dad was a TV Repair Man. And I have always wondered what are Tasty Waves? Must be some Good Surfing Waves, I always thought they were something you eat. But then again being from MO we don't get many waves. All we get is Poison Ivy and lots of Humidity. :stats: Phoebe Cates married Kevin Kline and he is from St Louis. Went to Clayton High School actually. Occasionally they come to town. Man was she beautiful when she got out of that pool exposing her ...........Lovely Face.................What does this have to do with Trailer Hitches. I'll shut up now!! Spicole..............LMAO
  14. You say the one you bought from Ford came with Velcro for keeping it in place? I didn't get any Velcro. Mine stays in place because it has no place to go, it fits perfect. Maybe I left something in the box and threw it out with the Trash.
  15. I have first hand experience here. My son just moved back home with me from Phoenix and his Super Duper wonderful Toyota has a failing Transmission in it right now. Sort of a Shutter when stopping like a Manual Transmission when you come to a stop and don't push the clutch in. His is an Automatic Tranny and when I got on line there are thousands of people screaming about their Pre Runner SR5 transmissions failing. Every Automobile has problems, MKX is right if it was made to last 25 years it would cost more than we would want to pay. The good news is, as you already said, there is nothing that one person put on a vehicle that another person can't fix.
  16. No I don't have this issue, but it sounds to me that you have a leak somewhere and the Brake system is drawing air into it. A soft Brake issue is normally related to Air entrainment. Even moisture will still compress although moisture will cause other problems, but not usually a soft pedal. You say the dealer flushed the system once and it was better, but has now returned. I would ask them to bleed the brakes and watch them do so. If they find air in the system then make certain they check everything for tightness and any sign of a leak. If this cures the problem, if only temporarily then you know you are getting air in the system. Your dealer will jump all over that issue PDQ. In the unfortunate case that you would have an accident that dealer and Ford would be called Respondent!!!
  17. I am sure you already know this so please don't be offended. You must have the Automobile in Park with the power on for the seat memory to function. It won't move, other than manually, when in gear. When exiting the vehicle you must remove the key from the ignition or the seat will stay where it is. Now I do Have a problem when cleaning mine. I run the seat all the way forward and vacuum under the seats, then all the way to the rear etc. I get in and put the key in the ignition and hit Memory 1 and that setting is gone. Hit 2 and that one is gone also. That is the only time I have ever had a problem. I haven't read the owners manual on this, so it may explain why, Other than that I haven't had any issues with my seats.
  18. The Cargo mat fits perfect and does exactly what it is supposed to do. It protects your carpet quite well. It may be a bit thin, but I believe it is tough enough to NOT Puncture. If you work at it, I am certain you could puncture it, but during normal use it should be fine. I have had Husky Liners before and they are thin also but quite durable. The Cargo Mat from Ford has a Nice lip around it to hold spills also, I don't haul much of anything in my Edge other than people the dog and Luggage. I am fortunate to have my sons Toyota Truck if I need to haul anything I don't want in my Edge. I am a Clean Fanatic! I sell asphalt plants and components and can get pretty dirty at times, so I keep towels and such available so as not to ruin my interior. Now if I can just keep my wife from banging around her purse with those buckles and $hit hitting the plastic inside the car I will be in Great shape.
  19. I cheat, I noticed that also. I have the Ford Cargo Mat and still put an old blanket down under Josie's Kennel and leave some to roll out over the bumper just for that reason. Hell I probably don't even need that Bumper Protector since I do this, but then again I may not need the cargo mat either. I also have towels over the all weather floor mats! Come to think of it maybe I need therapy for my Obsessive Clean Disorder.
  20. I have had several K&N's 4 FIPK's all on F150's, K&N replacement filters in the Taurus, the Focus SVT, the Escape, The 96 Polaris Trailblazer and a Forcewinder on the 2000 Sportster. I don't think they did a damn thing other than cost me money. I just couldn't resist modifying stuff. Then I met a man that did a ton of work on engines and was doing DYNO runs and performance tunes for Hypertech that told me a paper filter, duct taped down to 1 square inch left open, showed no performance loss on the DYNO. Running a Cotton Gauze filter was suicide on an engine built for every day use. To much dirt migration into the engine. Now a Race engine is a different story, so don't confuse the two. Race engines are constantly dismantled and refreshed. Cram all the air in that you can get and make sure you can pass it for MAX HP. In this case Cotton Gauze filters are wonderful. Sure I like K&N and still use some. But their won't be one in My new EDGE! Hey, how about some magnets that go around the fuel line, these realign the molecules in the fuel and you get better mileage. Anybody heard that line of Hog $hit before?
  21. I bought the Ford Part. Mine says EDGE in the middle of it. Very easy to install and protects quite well as Josie jumps into and out of her Kennel. No issues at all with lift gate etc. or anything else for that matter. Sure it is just an appliqué, but what did you want?
  22. Finally I believe my Edge is fixed. They had to replace the Oil Filter Adapter along with the gaskets and O Rings where the Oil Cooler, (I have the Tow Package) mates. When I first got it back it still had drips on the Filter. I figured it was from the repair and simply wiped it off with a Paper Towel. I left town and checked it several places while traveling and no sign at all of a leak. I never smelled anything, I never noticed the oil level dropping either. I simply noticed a small puddle on the Garage Floor one day and found it. Maybe this will help someone else down the road. Hey MKX what is the status of your MKX? I also saw where you posted something about a Light Bar on your TV. I have a Phillips Flat Screen and have Blue Pixels in the lower right corner sometimes, I have been told that is the light Bar. What the heck is a Light Bar? I always thought a Light Bar was one you could only get Beer at since it was in the pool down in Jamaica Mon.

    MPG??????

I now have 7700 miles on my Edge. I filled up in KCMO after driving from my house to Rolla MO to Jefferson City to Sedalia to KCMO. My average MPH was 43 and my MPG was 20.1. When I drive strictly hiway I reset the Comp and normally get 24+ at MPH Avg 58 to 61. It is very hard to average 70 MPH if you have the cruise set there, since you usually have someone or a group that you must negotiate going slower. I normally set my Cruise at 74 when in a 70 MPH zone and let that Edge Eat some miles. I have seen numbers as high as 26 mpg while driving, But I have never been able to sustain that. Weekly travel includes Myself, My Wife, and Josie the wonder Dog 62.6 pounds of pure Meat Pit bull, our clothes for 5 days and my Computer bag, that probably weighs 60 pounds by itself. Definitely not a heavy load, well I am, but the rest is average. Last week was miserable cold here, that may have had an effect on my mileage. :shades: :shades:
