  1. Ok lets answer this person's question and try and make them feel welcome. You should not push the Traction Control Button and speeds above ? I don't have the owners manual right in front of me, however this info is in there. Your best bet is to leave it activated and let the Computer do the work for you. It might save you an accident. I know it states in the manual not to activate or deactivate at speeds above ? My understanding is that it applies the brake to the slipping wheel and transfers the torque to the other wheel or wheels depending on FWD or AWD. Pretty slick option in my opinion. No pun intended. Also welcome to the forum and enjoy your new Edge. SRE
  2. I agree and what a mess Memphis is in. I haven't been keeping up but what happened with the Mayor and the Car Dealer trying to get him to do something despicable with that young Gal so they could get rid of him. I moved in July Back to what I call home. Ever eaten at the Commissary? I loved that food. I also enjoyed drinking a beer or ten at the East End Grill. Especially when Daily came in and bought a round for the house. I had a great time in Memphis and in many ways I miss it. But those last two years it was so dad gum HOT and no Rain. My yard just went to heck. The east End was so close I could walk home if I needed to except for that Damn Fence! I almost forgot. Is Cordova in Shelby County? I was for sure but I would have thought you were further out. I lived off of Players Club Parkway. Man those property taxes were killer. But then again there is no State Income Tax and I loved that. 3. My Blazing Copper SEL+ makes a Whine also but I have never noticed it at Idle only while accelerating. I call it my Blower. That V6 is pretty peppy, maybe yours has a blower also. I believe mine is actually Torque Converter whine but it wouldn't do that at idle. I don't think it would anyway. Hell I'm no mechanic what do I know. Maybe it's 07 MKX's wife!! Come to think of it when my wife is not in the vehicle I don't hear that whine at all. Holy Whiners Batman I got it, it's my wife. You know what would make my wife the perfect woman? A piece of Duct Tape and 8 inches long. Just kidding I still love the Old Girl!
  4. Good night that post was lovely. First off Good Hands is not a Hillbilly, what ever the definition of Hillbilly is, and Cordova TN is not what you would consider Low Rent District. Actually Cordova is very upscale and a very clean part of the greater Memphis Area. I lived in Southwind and was very close to Cordova. Is everyone that lived or lives in TN one of these Hillbillies? Or have people watched to many Cartoons about the Hatfield's and McCoys, which were from East KY and West VA by the way. And what is wrong with MKX. This person simply tells it the way it is!!! I like that, and the info they post is accurate and often a reference is given for a factual viewpoint. Lets see now, I was born and raised in MO. By the Lake of the Ozarks. I guess I am a Hillbilly. However I have been transfered to St Louis MO, Denver CO, Indianapolis IN, Springfield IL, Cape Girardeau, MO, Louisville KY, Memphis TN, and now back in the St Louis area. I wonder what ethnic slur I fit in. As far as Plastic wheels are concerned I believe they are actually Aluminum that is Chrome Plated and glued to the wheel. I don't believe they are plastic. I could be wrong remember I am from the Ozark Mountains and may not know what Aluminum is, or plastic for that matter. My wheels are made of wood.
  5. Is this sync option available for purchase on a 2007 Edge with the audiophile radio?
  6. Hey Good Hands. How's TN? I have had an Escape, which I just traded for my new Edge. Unless my wife gets that NXT Goop out and smears it all over the dash I don't have a glare problem with my Edge either. However that Escape I just traded was a 2006 and it had awful glare in the windshield. I looked like a real Bozo driving with a Black Towel on the dash but otherwise it was very distracting. My Edge interior is Black and the Escape was Gray. Maybe the Black absorbs the UV better. I had tire issues with my Escape also. All four positions wore on the inside bead. SRE
  7. Have any of you owned a Lexus? The service performed on Japanese Automobiles is rather expensive. I have owned 2 Accords and one fabulous Terd a Passport. I remember at 15,000 mile intervals those vehicles service charge was around 500 dollars each. Bear in mind that they drained all fluids and replenished as well as checked everything over. I followed the service intervals to the tee! I got great service from my 2 Accords the passport was just an Isuzu and it was crappy at best. My point is ownership cost was very high as compared to the many Fords I have owned. My guess is that that Lexus you are showing Prototype photos of will cost in the 40's or low 50's and have the same expensive service intervals. I can't afford one. They are great vehicles don't get me wrong but they are very expensive also. I'll stick to good old grass roots Ford's. SRE
  8. I have an Edge and just rolled over 3800 miles on it. Yesterday I filled up in Springfield IL and while driving back to Moscow Mills Mo I avg 24.2. NO A/C obviously, Highway 74 Limit 65 I had the cruise on 70. Highway 54 through Pittsfiled IL Louisianna Mo and on to Bowling Green MO two lane limit 60 with lots of little towns at 30 mph. I drove that stretch with the Right Foot, and then highway 61 south from Bowling Green to Moscow Mills limit 60 had cruise on 60. Lots of Cops due to many accidents resulting in deaths on 61. No need to chance it. This is my best Fuel Mileage so far. I do notice that when the Low Fuel Warning comes on that the first shut off at the pump is usually 15.5 to 16 gallons. I can squeeze up to 19.4 gallons in it. I suspect the pump is calibrated in the stations favor because mine says it holds 19.2 gallons. Maybe I get .2 in the neck but then again it isn't completely empty either. So what gives? SRE
  9. I agree I have the blazing Copper also and have always used Meguiars products. I use the NXT wax and that is a Bottle wax not the spray or the Can. I also use the Gold Class wash. Other than the Wash everything else I use is NXT. Speed detailer, Interior protectant, Etc. I even use their towels. Maybe Barry should give me a break on price. It's good stuff but man it's high priced. SRE
  10. I'd say the computer is wrong. I don't think you can get that low unless you let it set in the driveway and idle out a tank of gas. But then again are you talking New York City or New York driving. In the city that could be accurate at least in my experience with the Apple. Now about everywhere else in the state of New York driving is fine in my opinion, and that mileage should be much better. My FWD does 21.3 avg and 23ish straight interstate long runs 70-80 mph two people 1 dog no A/C and luggage for a week out. SRE
  11. I would like to thank you Men and Women that design and Build this Ford Edge. I have had mine three weeks now and am very impressed with it. Mine is an SEL+ and was built in May of 07. I really like the ride and handling. My mileage AVG is 21.9 When I fill up and drive a long Interstate run I get 24.3. And of course I drive 70-80 MPH. The stereo is outstanding, minimal noise in the interior, Lots of Gadgets to play with, 6 way power seat and telescoping steering wheel really allows you to get comfortable, Plenty of power and excellent shifting from the tranny. I have had 4 F150's, 1 sable, 1 Taurus, 1 Focus SVT, that one was awesome, 1 Explorer Sport, that one stunk, 1 Escape and now this Edge. My Harley Truck and this Edge are by far my favorites!!! The SVT was a great little Rice Eating Machine but I could not seem to mange the speed limit with it. Between the IL line and Evansville IN on 64 I hit 120 mph and man those turns came fast. Yes The Speedo was at 120mph! Bone Stock and ran like a Stripped A$$ Ape. The speedo went up to 160 but I never got there. It probably would have done it but Good sense took over. Every person in my Family drives Ricers or GM except my late father who had a Lincoln LS after 6 Caddies. I am singled out with my Ford's and won't ever change. I am going to buy a Mustang for the Misses and use the Edge as my Daily Driver, along of course with my new 07 Road King that has 18 miles on it and is getting painted the same color as my Edge. Blazing Copper metalic. My 2000 Sportster is almost the same color, Aztec Orange Pearl and that is a factory Color, or was in 2000 anyway. Enough Rambling. Thank you all very much for a wonderful Automobile. This Edge is very much like my Late fathers Lincoln LS. He always wanted a Lincoln and after 6 Caddies he got one and died shortly after. He loved that Lincoln, he always said that GM vehicles were cars but a Lincoln is an automobile. Steve R England
  12. I have had my Edge about 4 weeks now and have only had one complaint. The rear Panoramic trim ring Hook and Loop tape came unglued and was repaired by Price Gnade Ford in Moscow Mills MO. The ride is fabulous, I enjoy the handling and love those heated seats. The stereo is wonderful, the rear recline seats, the Grandkids enjoy. I get around 22 mpg overall and 24 highway. I have 2900 miles on my Edge and can't remember when I liked a vehicle more. Unless it was the Harley Truck in 01. The one thing I would like is the home link on my new Edge. Oh yeah and the Ipod interface. SRE
  13. I am certainly an old Bull and am very surprised I didn't get hate mail due to my post. On my F150's that I put the K&N FIPK's on and there was 4 of them, I never had the issues about the oil contaminating the mass air flow sensor or the temp sensor. I did like the sound and had either 40 series Mufflers or a Dynomax on them. They did sound good but when I added up the bills, I paid big bucks, for any imagined or implied performance enhancements. I just didn't see the investment paying off. Maybe my Butt Dyno is getting rusty. LOL Thanks for the reply. SRE
  14. That was a great report! Thanks for the link. I too have had several Ford F150's that I added K&N FIPK's to. I am a fanatic on maintenance and cleanliness. I liked the look and sound of the K&N but I never really noticed any HP gain. But then again 10% of 250 HP is hard to feel, now 10% of 800HP would be much easier to feel. I know a man that worked at Hypertech for several years. He did programming and spent the most part of his days on the Dyno. He said you actually had to duct tape a filter till there was about 1 square inch of Paper Filter left open before you saw a decrease on the dyno. He laughed and said that buying CAI systems were a waste on a basic stock engine. Adding High Flow Exhaust, a CAI and a power program was still a pretty basic stock engine and quite honestly for the money you get very little in return. Yes you do get satisfaction that you have done some modifications and they look and sound cool, but what performance do you really get for that money. There are millions of people that will find great exception to this, most of them have never had their mean machine on a Dyno and don't have a clue if their investment paid off, however that won't stop them from making big claims of how great their decision was. I have a forcewinder CAI with a K&N on it attached to my 2000 Harley and it helped a great deal. Was it the Filter or the elbow that sticks out in the wind? Probably both. I have a K&N in my 96 Polaris 250 Trailblazer also and it helped, but then again that engine has been bored, an oversize Wiseco Piston a Shaved head and ported and polished intake. My point is that in many situations a K&N or other brand can and does help an engine, but I believe you sacrifice some filtration, and I also don't think you actually achieve anything by adding a CAI to a bone stock engine. If Ford thought it would be better for your Auto they would have added it at the factory. Just my opinion. SRE
  15. I've been sleeping. A Plymouth duster. Wow, that would be awesome. I didn't know there was dust back then.
  16. My FWD SEL+ makes a whine noise when I accelerate also. I figured it was the Turbo winding up, this V6 is quite zippy. Honestly I do hear a whine in mine also. Probably no reason for alarm, maybe just the torque converter whining a bit. I like hearing it. My old 2001 Harley Edition did the same thing it either went away or I got used to it. Sorry you are having trouble. I can't help either. How many Miles do you have on your Edge? SRE
  17. When you change Tire and wheel sizes do you consider the Odometer Changes? How about the rolling inertia created by a larger wheel? Are the Brakes able to handle the additional weight of a larger Wheel? The Ford Engineers take into consideration all these items when they design the Tire Wheel Brake Package. I have always been weary of changing this I am NOT fond of the 18" Chrome Clad Wheels on my SEL+ I would like to put some other wheels on but I am uncertain of the repercussions. Should I stay with an 18 with the same offset? What do you all suggest in a 20 or a 22 maybe? SRE
  18. I found what is rattling, I thought it was a clip but after a visit to the dealer it turns out to be Hook and Loop Tape coming off of the Trim Ring. They printed the TSB and have repaired it. Nice and quite now!
  19. I am certain this has been asked several times so please forgive me. If you purchase the parts from Ford to use your Ipod Interface through the Factory Radio how hard is it to install? Mine works fine with the factory port but I would like to have the ability to make selections etc through the Radio instead of the Ipod itself. Are there any after market kits available that are less expensive? And again are they hard to install, especially if you want the Ipod in the Console? SRE
  20. I never go by the recommended maint schedule. I change oil at the 1,000 mile mark then at 3,000 mile then every 3,000 after that. I rotate the tires every other oil change and have had Great results with that schedule. Ford would say that I am wasting Money. I worked for Ashland Oil Company and know many of their engineers. Ford oil is produced by Ashland, Fresh oil never hurt anything except for your clothes. SRE
  21. Good Hands aren't you from TN? Then why do you have a California Duster in your Cargo Management Tray, You planning a trip to Cali soon. I have a rag and a Can of Pledge for dusting. But then again I am from MO! SRE
  22. I tried Depends they caused a Chafing condition, is there a TSB on Chafing? Actually when I wrote that I was in a Motel and on the 7th floor, I was in my Depends and didn't want to go outside with just my Diaper on. SRE
  23. Cordova TN aye. I worked for APAC for the last two years in Memphis. That isn't two far, and yes you can sit in both seats if you want, but I think we should be driving to get the condition to rear it's ugly head, just sitting in it I don't notice any misfire. Where do you want to meet? How about St Gen MO? I did see a TSB on Rocks but that was from my shrink. He actually said I have a screw loose but maybe it is a Rock. Actually the misfire has cleared up. The dealer said they have a base program from the Factory and after driving that will normally go away when the computer gets used to my driving habits and pressures are recalculated. I did Not know I bought a Car that thinks for itself but I am certainly glad to know this. Now I sit in my Garage and talk to the Edge!! I have yet to hear an answer however. Maybe my Edge is Deaf! Is there a TSB on Hearing? Or maybe I haven't set it to talk yet, is that feature in the manual? SRE
