  1. My Limited chimes 3 at close and open. I really doubt it is anything major though.
  2. I don't have any of your other problems but I do have the 3 chimes when then lift fully opens. I haven't really worried about it because I don't care for all the bells. But if I remember right when I first bought it I thought it beeped all the way up and down, my wife thought the same thing.
  3. Well I guess it's time to give my friend that makes the Sync system a call and see if he has a copy on disc.
  4. So anybody went to the dealer yet and had this done?
  5. I think we would all agree though that the Edge does have some huge blind spots and that these will help.
  6. NEW STANDARD FEATURES • SOS-Post Crash Alert System (automobile safety beacon) – activates horn and emergency flashes in the event air bags are deployed I find this one funny. Obviously nobody will notice the severely damaged Edge first they will have to wait for the horn and flashers that are probably now crushed from the accident. Also it looks like the Fuel Economy numbers are more accurate now. FUEL ECONOMY 50 STATES F.E. LABEL F.E. LABEL ESTIMATED ADJUSTED ANNUAL ENGINE DISPL. TRANSMISSION CITY HIGHWAY FUEL COST FWD 3.5L V6 Duratec 6-Speed Auto 17 . . . 24 .... $2,209 AWD 3.5L V6 Duratec 6-Speed Auto 15 . . . 22 .... $2,335
  7. I fixed mine. I unplugged all of the cables under the seat then plugged all of them back in. Haven't had one time where it hasn't worked since.
  8. Ford didn't leave the scratch. The dealer did. Try a different dealer. I know for a fact that there is more than one in Vegas. Just curious which one did you go to?
  9. There is no way in hell I would tow another car through the mountains with my Edge. I also have a F250 with a V-10 and it has a hell of time towing in the mountains. I would bet with the edge you would be lucky to hit 35mph going up a hill. But like the others said the brakes are the biggest thing and you will undoubtedly kill them with a trip through the mountains. Just one question is yours and you wife's life worth more than $1k if so don't tow it. Also don't just think of your lives but you could possibly put others on the road in danger. Also you said your weight would be over the 3500k limit. If you do have an accident your insurance will most likely not cover it since you were over weight. Also if the police see it and decide to check you there are ticket complications to worry about.
  10. If nobody sits in the back seats just cover the rear vents. It will force more air out the front vents. Also to force more out of the center vents I close down the vent near the door.
  11. Yes there are plenty of us having problems with the wheels also. I have yet to find the time to take mine in to get them replaced.
  12. You will get many different responses to this. Myself I went to Mobil 1 at the first change at 500 miles. Some will tell you that is too early because the ring won't have enough time to set. Every new car that I have owned I have went to synthetic at 500 miles or less and never once had a problem with the engine and I used to get Blackstone results for my F-150 and Mustang and they were always excellent. My current truck a F-250 with the V-10 which is an engine known for burning oil has never burnt a drop of oil since I have had it and the oil in it went to Mobil 1 at 12 miles and been running just fine for 4.5 years now with oil changes every 5k. Oh and use 5-20 Mobil 1.
  13. When I replaced my tails with the LED's both of mine were burnt also. I have seen it on many cars like this when I worked at a Chevy dealership about 20 years ago. My Edge gets driven mostly at night so the lights are on almost always.
  14. While on my trip to Vegas I took my GPS with me to verify speed and a few other little things and I noticed with the cruise set at 80 the GPS would say 77. So I figured OK I'm of by 3mph no biggie, but later on I set the cruise at 80 again and checked with the GPS again and it said 77 so just for the fun of it I reset the avg MPH on the console and guess what it was telling me. You got it 77MPH So now I know that the speedo on my Edge is off by 3mph but the computer knows the true speed.
  15. Average for my trip was 23.1 by the computer and 21.6 hand calculation. 3750 miles total. I didn't notice much of a difference between using 100% gas and E-10 either.
  16. 26MPG at 80MPH? Never in my Edge. best Hwy I got was 22MPG. What state do you live in? Are you possibly using 100% gas? It is possible to get 26 with 100% but using E-10 I don't think it could happen.
  17. I am setting out on Thursday morning for a trip to Vegas from Chicago. It is 1800 miles each way and I should probably put on another 4-500 while there for 12 days, so I figure I should be driving around 4100 miles. I plan on taking detailed MPG with both the trip computer and hand calculations. Anywhere I can get 100% gas I will, so in Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming I should be good, I'm not sure about Utah if they have 100% or not. I have a 2008 Limited AWD w/20" wheels current mileage 8600.
  18. When did the Canadian Gov't become Ford engineers? This is also from your article you quoted. Mobil-1 exceeds the critical GM4718M Corvette Engine specification, re-engineered in 2002 to ensure GM product seal compatibility. Warning! Like all other Synthetics, it will ultra-clean an engine; with the potential of creating seal leaks, and/or oil gallery blockage in older engines - therefore; we advise against using in vehicles with older than 5 years and/or 150,000 km - unless, of course, the engine has been previously using a synthetic motor oil. Warning! And, like VHIV and PAO Synthetics, we do not recommend it for use during the initial 10,000-km new engine break-in period. So if we want to go by what engineers say then GM is saying it is OK to use 100% Synthetic at mile 0 because they do just that in the Corvette. The people advising against it is the Canadian Gov't. I tend to listen to the people that build and design the engine over some Gov't opinion.
  19. And your expertise is??? It has been proven many times that synthetics will NOT damage a engine from mile 0. http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorO...tics/Myths.aspx And as for my qualification: How's 35 years of experience with both Ford and GM service dept's. And to add on top of that a brother that was a drivetrain engineer for GM for 15 years. Now I will agree if the engine is a rebuilt or something from pre-1990. Those engines are not manufactured and honed at the precision that is used on new vehicles today and their rings will not be as tight and will need to set in. The point is new engines are built at such tight tolerances that the rings shouldn't have to "seat" themselves, the engine is tight. EDIT: spelling
  20. Just curious. Is it normal not having a debris flap over the filler hole on the Edge? I noticed that mine didn't have one not long after I bought it but I didn't think much about it.
  21. Mine are doing the same thing. Any word on a solution?
  22. Sure did, I used that one right there.
