Drove the Edge a few miles down the road to pick up my Yamaha FZ-09! Haven't done much with the Edge since last summer...just normal maintenance. Need some warmer weather here in NE Ohio.

Is it possible to get the Series 100 One-Way Remote start fob by itself? I had the system installed about 5-6 years ago and both my fobs have gone bad...replaced batteries in both and still no luck. I just need a replacement fob...

What effects did you feel after replacing the rear shocks? I am trying to determine if mine also need replacement @ 60K miles as on some highways a feel bumps which cannot be seen on the road. Its like the wheels are bouncing a lot, though it is not a balancing issue.
Honestly, I haven't felt much of a difference yet...The back end was a little rough going over larger bumps but it was still good on the smaller stuff...But the Edge is currently on a road trip to NY without me so I can reevaluate once it gets back on Sunday and maybe they are broken in a little more...At 60k miles, I'd think you'd still be good...unless you're on some really bad roads often.
I just watched MacT's video on replacing rear shocks. You gotta' pull all the interior plastic trim to get at the top nut on the shock!!?? What a PITA! I was thinking about redoing the shocks as a maintenance item, but man, if I have to do all that I think I might wait until they are completely shot!!
Yeah, that was part of the reason that I told them to go ahead....also, because like I said above, a family member was taking the Edge on a road trip and I figured I would just get it done...it was funny though, because they originally told me an hour would get it done...they called me after an hour and they needed two more! Good thing I lied and told them I needed the Edge back 3 hours before I truly did...

How many miles do you have on your car?
I'm at about 108k right now. But I've been switching between winter and summer wheels since about 80k. The guy at NTB tried to tell me I needed new tires because he thought the winter tires had 55k miles on them...they have about 25k...I told him I'll revisit it after the winter...They have plenty of tread left! Only reason I hate taking the car to shops.

Had the winter wheels aligned and balanced, and also had the rear shocks replaced today.

I drove the first extended period during middle of the night on Saturday and I was happy with the way the lights looked. I did notice the abundance of ground lighting by the Mini H1 projectors, but there's still enough ahead of me that I'm much happier than with the stock headlights. I think I finally have the height of the projectors setup properly, and I was pleased that the fog lights still seemed to have a job to do on the low side areas of the road.

Switched to the factory wheels today before the harsh weather shows up. Got a car wash as well, since we had a sunny November day here in Cleveland. First car wash with the new headlights and they held up well, no sign of water inside or around the seal.

OEM, Dorman, or ...
Sorry, forgot to add that...OEM. I found a set for about $15 on Amazon. I remember reading about rotting washer nozzles on here from other members but never encountered that issue until last week...seeing the repeating occurrence of this, it surprises me that Ford didn't choose a better plastic material for a product that is consistently in contact with water, chemicals, etc. If you're going to turn the modern vehicles into half-plastic machines, at least choose a quality plastic material.

So I still haven't been able to get a good reference point for the cutoff...the streets in my apartment complex are too curved for a night reference and thanks to Daylight Savings Time, it's now somewhat light out when I get to work...Below is the best I could do when pulling into a Panera parking lot a few nights ago...it's only a few feet away, but it at least shows that the output from each is pretty level...NOTE: I went with the B-stock Mini H1 projectors (the cutoff shield on the driver's side was warped towards the left side of the car, resulting in the beam slanting upwards) to save a little $$$. This was my first retrofit and I wanted to save $$$ in case I messed it up. Still is way better than the stock Halogen output...
I'm still trying to fine tune the beam height but I'm pretty happy so far.

Just replaced both front washer nozzles. Both of them crumbled when I squeezed with pliers...took maybe 2 minutes to replace them though.

pay attention to it, over time, it will more than likely start to crack and chip. Oven cleaner stripes the chrome right off, and the scuff it it, prime and paint.
Thanks for the tip. I have all the tools and necessities at work with me so I can always fix if needed. I'm hoping to get a new car (trade in the Edge) within the next 16 months so we'll see. I'd then switch back the headlights and take out projectors for another project...

did you just spray over the chrome trim?
Pretty much, yes. I scuffed it up the best that I could, and then cleaned it up before painting.

Finally installed new retrofit headlights. Couldn't be happier!

So I finally got the new headlights installed today. Taking the bumper off was much easier than expected, and everything went pretty well. I'm very excited with how well this project went, especially this being my first retrofit. They may not be perfect but it makes it that much better knowing I did this myself. Below are the pictures I have right now...I'll try to get better ones later on. I'll also update once I get a true night driving experience with the new lights. Thanks to anyone who gave some quality tips on this.
Please ignore the chipped paint on grille in the last pic...the auto body shopped did a shitty job and I'm making them redo the entire thing once Spring hits. -
I'm really wanting to do some modifications to my headlights. It's alot to risk though lol.
Yeah, that's why I always shyed away for the past 3-4 years...but now I have more money and I could do the whole thing for under $400...and if it sucked then I could at least sell off the projector kit.
Since you have a 2015, it would be much harder to find a cheap set of headlights to work with. I would never trust myself working on the current headlights because you never know what could happen...even if you are an experienced fabricator.
I basically had zero fabrication experience so this was just a fun project for me to see how it turned out and to see if I could do something similar in the future when I really need to.
It is definitely fun seeing how it turns out though. The Mini H1 kit is extremely easy to work with (in terms of minimal cutting). I couldn't imagine trying to do an FX-R install or anything like that...I wouldn't even try it, based on my experience level.

Sealed up the lights yesterday and tested them out this morning. Everything seems to look good and now I have to find time to remove the bumper and get the install complete. Hoping to have it done soon before a road trip.

So I decided to do a projector retrofit for a fun Fall project...My goal was to get some experience before doing a motorcycle headlight retrofit next Spring. I was able to find a spare set of headlights on eBay for a good price. I ordered the Mini H1 projector kit from TRS. I stuck with the standard Mini Gatling shrouds since I knew they would fit in the housing, and I wanted to keep cutting to a minimum on this project (1st retrofit attempt).
I started this build on a Tuesday...I baked the lights and got everything separated and cleaned up the best I could. Then on Wednesday and Thursday, I did all cutting (actually easier to use a belt sander than a dremel) to the reflector bowl and epoxied any parts that needed to be amended (too much cutting on 1 bowl, 1 broken trim around turn signal, and I sealed both bulb holes in high beam portion).
So today (Friday) I am finishing up painting and clear coat on all parts so they can fully cure and settle over the weekend. Then on Monday morning, I will assembly the lights together, test the beam pattern and make the adjustments. I'll recheck the adjustments on Tuesday morning, and if all is good...I'll have sealed headlights ready to go by next Wednesday! Then hopefully I can install on vehicle by that weekend...but we'll see.
I'm not going to do a full write-up since there have been a few here and there, plus most have moved on from the Gen1 Edge anyways...But I'm posting all pictures below (after completion) of the progress. If someone has any questions, please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer and help out.

Made some really good progress today on the retrofit...Disassembled both headlights and did all necessary cutting to the reflector bowls. I had to use some epoxy on one reflector bowl (cutting error), and one headlight trim (small crack). But both should be good tomorrow after it cures, I'll sand it down and paint them. Have the other headlight trim and both shrouds drying with the first coat of paint right now. Played around with projector fitment and how I'm going to run the solenoid wiring (I may be able to use the hole created by the removed reflector piece, which would be great!
Taking pictures as I go, not going to do a full write-up since there is a few on here plus most have moved on from the Gen1 Edge anyways...but I'll post all pics to my profile when done.
Hoping to have everything done, cleaned, and sealed by Friday afternoon! Probably won't have time to install on vehicle for a week or two though...

could just install a dummy projector into that spot, since you evidently went with a bixenon projector that spot is useless
That is an option....going to talk to one of my guys at work today...he's a fabrication genius, so I'd like to see what he would recommend if I were to seal up the high beam section...after that, I can better make a decision.

All parts for the projector retrofit were delivered today. Baked the lights when I got home from work and removed the lenses from both assemblies. It was actually very easy to remove (cleanup of permaseal not so much). I'll be taking apart everything else and doing the minimal cutting while I'm at work tomorrow, and maybe even start painting parts if I have time...
Still debating whether I want to seal off the high beam area or run with dual high beams on each side...keeping the halogen high beam functional would stop me from being able to black out the assembly...Any suggestions?

Had to clear the A/C drain today...noticed the sloshing water "sand" noise in the dash last night. Last time it cost me a new A/C motor, hopefully I caught it quick enough this time. I followed MacT Ford Edge video on YouTube and it was perfect (although I never went under the car). Took about 2 min, but A LOT of water came rushing out.
Hopefully all is well now.
