  1. Hey guys.

Not sure if this has been covered already but I need some help...pretty soon I will be switching back to my summer wheels and tires and would like to lower the Edge at the same time...

I'm new to actually lowering a vehicle so I'm not sure exactly what is needed in order to do this...I plan on going with the H&R springs and KYB struts but I'm not sure what else is needed.

Any help/part list is much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. That'd be really good if the problem is limited to the spark plugs, caught it just in time. Excessive resistance from spark plug wear = consequences for PCM & coils.

Yeah I'm really hoping that the problem doesn't pop up again...The next time I spend money on the Edge will hopefully be on NAV unit/back up camera, Suspension upgrade, braking upgrade....I hate spending money on repairs haha

The Edge does seem to be running much smoother now though.

  3. Anyone have any issues with the Redline Hoods struts? They work great but I noticed they are twisting the thin piece of metal connected to the side of the engine bay...I'm trying to think of a way to be support those thin strips of metal by securing them to the more sturdy, fixed components but I'm not sure how to do that just yet....Has anyone else had to do something similar after their install?

  4. Thanks to a beautiful Cleveland, Ohio day (can't say that very much), I was able to install the Redline Tuning Hood Struts and some Monroe MaxLift lift gate supports in the Edge. Both are great upgrades...the lift gate has much better response now and I'm glad I decided to do the hood struts. Still left the prop bar in for now just in case there are any issues but will probably remove it in the Spring. Much more comfortable opening the hood and it looks great.

I even was able to install some Monroe MaxLift struts in my Father-in-Law's truck since his lift gate on his Tahoe always hits him in the head! Great day to do some fun car stuff...

  5. Sounds ok to me...I just placed an order with RockAuto for the same supports. I'm trying to make a big list of things I want to do by summer and I thought of these because I just ordered hood struts as well...I may consider replacing the lift supports when the weather gets warmer overall, as we're only in the 30s for a good while now in Cleveland (and that's if we're lucky). Definitely can't wait to install the hood struts though, and some work is under the hood and I hate the prop bar...

  6. not gonna do a write up of installation. but it is pretty straight forward.i installed H&R lowering springs ,new struts and new shocks. all hand tools exept for electric impact for the spring compressors. doing them with a ratchet is not my idea of a good time. i also am looking for new wheels and wanted to see what black would look like so you know it...i ran out and got some plasti dip so i could get an idea without permannatly painting my chrome clad wheels..i personally like the black very much. here are a few pics...as of right now i have a 1.375" drop on all 4 wheels but i just finished them and drove for one day so they should settle a bit. alignment scheduled for tomorrow.attachicon.gif2010 ford edge 1.jpgattachicon.gifedge 246.JPGattachicon.gifedge 247.JPGattachicon.gifedge 250.JPGattachicon.gifedge 251.JPG

Hey what shocks and struts did you go with? I'm actually moving to AZ in June from Ohio and I'm planning on doing the same suspension upgrade you did.

  7. Went to the dealership for PCM flash. Seems to have more power/better MPG, but tranny 3rd-4th slippage has returned. Just going to give time for now.

I have the same problem but never had the PCM flashed. I've seen it being a PCM issue and also a spark plug "misfire" issue as well. Hoping to have my mechanic friend look at it soon and figure it out since I don't trust Ford service anymore....

  8. Just over a week ago I noticed that one of my puddle lights from Dan at DTBL had stopped working. I emailed him on Friday, and he responded on saturday letting me know that they had redesigned the puddle lights and would be sending me 2 brand new lights of the new design. I attached pictures showing the difference (I tried to attach pictures but it's not letting me upload to site or to this post)...light output is same (still amazing) but you can tell a huge difference in quality of the build (obviously new lights are higher quality). They even look "cleaner" and newly designed clip helps installation and fit just that much easier. Another pleasant experience with Dan.

  9. I have an SEL, just ordered some HID from TheRetrofitResource.com

Here's what I ended up getting:

    H11: Morimoto Elite HID System

    HID Ballasts

    2 x 50W: Morimoto XB55 Computer

    Ballast Igniters

2 x Morimoto XB Igniter (AMP)

    Compatible H11 HID Bulbs

    2 x H11B/H9/H8: XB 5500K

    Harness (See Compatibility Info Below)

    1 x HD Relay: H11/H9/H8

    Anti-Flicker Capcitor Link (optional)

    1 x Morimoto Capacitor Link

I'll post pics once I get them installed. Shipping and all was $170.

Installation is very simple, especially if you've ever installed an HID kit before. You'll notice the great quality right away. Hope you enjoy the kit.

  10. Well...... this took longer than one day for me but I finished today lol. I wasn't happy with my rear end ... err ...my Edge's rear end to be more specific. Over the last few weeks here are the changes I made:

    1. Put a new "Ford" emblem on the rear

2, Swapped out the tails for LED tails

    3. Replaced the stock tips with a set of flat black powder coated tips

    4. Sanded and repainted the aftermarket trailer hitch and wiring drop

    5. Put a flat black hinged hitch cover on so when I need to use the hitch the cover just flips up so the receiver can go in easily

    6. Debadged the rear ex for the "Ford" emblem - I tend to like "the clean look" on my vehicles

I've attached the "before" and "after" pictures. I'm glad I got this finished today as it's getting a little chilly here to paint outside lol.

Where did you get the powder coated tips from? I'm interested in the swap as well.

  11. I don't have a 2015 but I went on TRS and put in info for a 2015 Edge w/o stock HID and this is what I got...9006 bulbs...I can testify that these products are amazing, very high quality (well worth the money) and customer service is great too. Link below is to 9006 4500K bulbs with 50W ballast w/ Canbus harness. I don't know about the newer Edges but you can get away with a 35W system if you use wiring harness as well. That's the setup I have in my 2008 and I haven't had any problems since going with TRS products.

Hope you guys find what you're looking for.
