  1. When I first bought my 2013 Edge Limited it came with the Factory Remote Start which is great but was told that there was a 2-way option which showed up online as an option but everytime I tried to order it they said it woudln't fit my vehicle. Even the dealer showed it as an option until they ordered it and somehow said it wasn't possible. Does anyone know for sure if its possible?
  2. I would go with rust as the reason that one wheel was worn so bar, the other rear still had probably 50 - 60% and the fronts had probably 75%. We cleaned up all the rust and put a little brake greese on the clips so hopefully it won't happen again. I've had it for just about 3 years but work only 5 miles from home and the rest of the miles are long trips so it isn't used that much. See the attached photo from of the Rear Driver Side Pads.
  3. Yes and I can't imagine it could ever be that far off that it would cause a stud to break!
  4. Hi everyone, I did some searching saw a few mentioneds of broken studs here as well as on Google but was wondering if this is a known or common issue. My 2013 Edge Limited only has 18k miles on it and my back brakes were smoked so we did a brake job the other day, we found (which I believe is farily common) that the drivers side pad was down to the rivets but the rest of them were fine but we bought a whole set of Rotors / Pads so we did them all anyway (huge difference). Anyway when we put the tires back on we hit them with a gun that only goes up to about 80FT / LBs of Torque Max then we attempted to go the rest of the way with a Torque Wrench and it felts like once we get above the 80 FT/LBs the Studs were "Stretching" to the point of us getting very uncomfortable and stopped once one of the rear studs snapped before even hitting 90 FT/LBs. Correct me if I am wrong but everything I see / read says that the lugs are supposed to be 100 ft/pounds.I am pretty confident that if we did that we would end up with many snapped studs. Thoughts?
  5. I wish mine was that simple, I had 18's on for the Winter (the vehicle came with 20's) and when I put the 20's back on I didn't have any issues until about a month or so afterward and now it is off all the time. How is this Not a Safety Issue? If / when someone gets in an accident because of this lawyers are going to have a field day. And as much as I was trying to bite my tongue how can anyone say that we rely on our GPS's too much? I have a sub $100 Garmin that has worked flawlessly for what 5 years now? So you are telling me that the multi-thousand dollar piece of crap that I bought with my Edge should be less reliable? Come on... At the same time I understand the need for a backup. I have a book of maps in my car at all times and of course I have a cell phone / google maps. This is NOT THE POINT... The point is that we paid good money for something that is not working properly, is a KNOWN ISSUE that they can't seem to fix reliably.
  6. So this issue has popped up again. This is after the software upgrade as well as the replacement of the GPS Module which seemed to resolve the issue for a while but now I am back to the GPS being off sometimes by small amounts and other times like today several streets off and getting worse depending on how long I drive. So the question is what kind of recourse do I have? This is a HUGE Safety issue that showed up when I was using the Navigation System for what it is designed for - giving me directions to an address that I've never been to. It actually took me the wrong way off the highway and couldn't make up its mind in its "Off Route" messages and almost caused me to get in an accident trying to look at the screen and figure out where I was supposed to go. I e-mailed Ford and they said that this is a known issue that they have NOT yet resolved on vehicles with the larger tires. They suggested I keep dealing with the dealer and they will eventually roll out a fix. I am considering hiring a lawyer to get them to buy this back. Between the NAV having a mind of its own, the Voice Controls not working consistently and the mileage being so far over stated by Ford I am so sad that I've wasted my money on this POS. Anyone have any thoughts / suggestions on recourse?
  7. Sorry for my late update - Replacing the GPS Module did fix the issue with my GPS Going off route. Its been working fine / without any issues for just under 2 months now.
  8. Antonio - The dealers ears must have been burning, I posted this on the 21st and the next morning I got a call from the dealer saying the part was in stock. I dropped if off this AM when I got out of work and just got it back. I won't know if it is fixed until I go for a long enough ride to encouter the issue. That said it would have been nice to know that all of my settings even the pairing of my cell phone were lost during this maintenance as I got a call while driving home and couldn't answer it thorugh the vehicle which was very distracting. I also lost all of my favotires / Home settings for the GPS so this looks like a complete reset of the MFT System. Here's to hoping that takes care of it. I will report back after I test.
  9. Thanks Antonio - The dealer claims to have ordered the "GPS Module" over a week and a half ago and I haven't heard a peep. I certainly don't think I should have to hound them especially with my work / sleep schedule but will have to see what the heck is going on.
  10. Brought my Edge in this past Friday, at first the Service Writer said he never seen / heard of this before but when I went to pick it up he said they've seen it before and that the ultimate fix has been replacing the "GPS Module". That said they did some kind of a software / firmware update and wanted to see if it worked as they were not able to see the issue after the update. Of course it happened to me as soon as I went somewhere that night. I will say that while it goes off course it does seem to come back and find its way back to where I actually am. Obviously this is still completely unacceptable and it will be going back as soon as they get the module.
  11. Well I see that I am not the only one that is having this issue. I didn't have this issue before getting the new tires but can't say if this is coincidental or not as I only use the GPS when I go to new places which I haven't done much until after getting the new tires. I haven't contacted the dealer as of yet, I wanted to see if anyone else had any insight on this before going that route. I assume based on what I am seeing they will blame the new new Tires. Which I honestly didn't think would have anything to do with it. As I mentioned I went from the Stock 20" Tires / Rims to 17" Tires / Rims (235-65/17) as others have mentioned. From what I am seeing going form the Factory 245/50/20 to the 17's is a difference of 680.7 Revs compared to 695.1 which is also a difference of 71.4 Mph compated to 70 for the 17" I can see how that could be an issue but would think there would be a way to compensate for it especially if a GPS is used for location.
  12. Hey everyone I have a 2013 Edge with MFT and just recently I started having some issues with the Navigation System. I start off at my house and have it give me directions and it will be fine for a certain amount of time then it will display "Off Route" and never really find its way back. It will show me well of the highway / road that I am on and it is becoming quite a pain. It has happened each of the last 4 times I have tried to use it. Interestingly enough I read somewhere that putting different tires on the vehicle can cause this issue. I recently swapped out my factory 20" Tires / Rims for 17" Nokian's recommended by my local Tire Supplier. This really doesn't make a whole lot a sense to me since a GPS is supposed to use Satellites and not depend on the rotation of the tire. Is there any truth to this as a potential cause? I was told that the 17's I went with are close enough to the factory diameter that I shouldn't have any issues with the Speedo / ODO. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
  13. I am a realitively new owner of a 2013 Ford Edge Limited AWD and I have a little less than 2000 miles on it and I am curious of anyone else is experiening this: The onboard economy computer shows much better mileage then reality? I've filled up a total of 6 times so far and I track every single mile that I drive and every drop of fuel that I put in my vehicles. Each time the vehicle shows that I've gotten around 19 - 21 mpg average depending on the fill up but the reality is an average of 2-3 mpg less when calculating using the real method of how much fuel is put in the vehicle divided by the number of miles driven. Also so far in mixed driving with a good amount of highway my overall average is a pretty low 17.24 mpg. Based on the number quoted on the sticker which I know is not reality I expected a bit better than this. My last 2 Vehicles (Nissans) On Board Computers were pretty much spot on with their mileage calculations using the same tracking software / methods. Thoughts?
  14. Anything is possible but I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I can't recall ever scratching a windsheild with a snow brush of even a wiper blade failing. As I mentioned in my original post I had a Rental That had severe scratches on the windshield that I didn't put much thought in to until I saw the scratches on my windshield.
  15. After serveral phone calls to my dealer I got someone that said he would look in to this for me. I got a call back this morning saying I could upgrade my existing remote start with the Factory 2-Way one for $200 which included the parts and labor to install it. After some phone tag I called back and made the appointment for next wednesday. About 10 minutes later I got a call back from the dealer saying that when he called to make the appointment with the people that do their remote start installations he was told that since I have the pushbutton start option I can not upgrade at this time. He said it might be possible in the future but nothing is offered by Ford only some after market options which I don't really want at this point. So this is where I am at now... If anyone knows anything different please let me know. Thanks
