  1. Figured it out. If anyone else comes across this the chirp is when the dealer add on alarm system arms. It chirps as soon as the LED lights up. If you put it in valet mode it doesn't do that. The more you know.
  2. akirby - I have an IDS and can program anything a dealer can pretty much. I know I'd need the antenna (cheap part) and the head unit. The only thing I knew for sure was different was I had to have the premium sound system, which it does. I'd also have to get the head unit that doesn't have sync since my Edge doesn't have it. But other than that...... I don't know why it wouldn't work. Enigma - That's great. I appreciate the link. I may have a head unit already sourced, so I'll probably try to reprogram it myself and see what happens (since I have the IDS anyway). If that doesn't work I'll be ordering from them. I like the idea of keeping it factory instead of going aftermarket. Weird, since when I was younger I couldn't wait to get the OEM parts off and aftermarket parts on. Lol. Being a professional mechanic has changed the way I view that kind of stuff I guess.
  3. OK, got something that is bugging me. 2007 Edge SEL with factory alarm added. When I hit the lock button on my key the doors lock, no horn honk like normal. After about 10 seconds though it gives a subtle little honk. Low enough that if you started walking away you have to stop and ask "Was that my car?" Lol. If I hit the lock button twice the horn honks and lights flash to confirm everything is locked, like normal. About 3 seconds later though I get that same subtle honk. What in the world is that? It's not the same duration as confirmation honk, doesn't flash any lights, doesn't pulse any locks. I assume it has to do with the factory alarm. My wife's 2007 SE doesn't have the factory alarm and acts normal. If it's the alarm confirming it's armed or something, so be it. I just want to know why it's honking at me. Thanks
  4. I'm sure this has been asked but I couldn't find it if so. I have a 2007 Edge SEL. The factory radio has a volume knob that is failing so I'm looking at replacing the radio anyway. It does have the premium sound with the sub in the back. I was trying to figure out if that factory NAV unit would plug up and work without a crazy amount of work. Anybody have any idea? Thanks.
  5. Welcome from Texas.
  6. This got me curious. Looking at the wiring diagram it looks like the multifunction switch runs straight to the smart junction box, and the smart junction box runs the bulbs. Ugh. I was wanting to replace all the bulbs on this thing with LEDs, but I don't want to wire in a resistor to make it not blink fast. Anyone tried just straight up bulb swaps and know if it makes the system blink fast?
  7. Sweet ride. I'd never seen the chrome blacked out before. Welcome from Texas.
  8. If you don't use the second diode you'd be powering up whatever circuit you drew your 12v ignition sorce from everytime you opened your doors. (When the toggle was in the ON position anyway.) Depending on the load on that circuit the dome lamp circuit may not provide enough power to do that. That's why I included two diodes. One to seperate the toggle from the dome lights, and one to seperate the dome lights from any other circuits. You could wire that diode in either the 12v ignition wire OR the wire leaving the toggle switch to accomplish the same thing. Hope this helps.
  9. Very cool. I was just saying I wanted to do this and here is all the info I need. Thanks. What are "switchbacks"? I googled it and found this forums video, but I'm not clear. They are LED turn signal bulbs that light WHITE for park, but AMBER for turn? Correct?
  10. You ever figure this out? I can walk you through it if not. Pretty simple.
  11. I just ordered a set of these. Looks pretty sharp for 50 bucks. Lol. Might as well try it out. Thanks for the pics.
  12. Picked up a used 2007 Edge SE for my wife. Joined up here to lurk mostly. Lol. I'm looking at doing some minor mods to it. The day after we got it home I took it to the shop and changed every drop of fluid in it, plugs, coil connectors, put a K&N filter in it (figured why not), and did the brakes. I also hooked the IDS up to it and updated my PCM, and went through my programmable features to turn on illuminated entry and auto door locks. (Easier than using the keypad.) I like the way the fog lights look on the SELs so I started hunting kits for it and stumbled across this site. I'm a mechanic so I work on all kinds of stuff all the time. Maybe I'll be able to help out with some knowledge from time to time. If I'm not working on cars I'm either hanging with my wife and two boys (8 and 3), or at the gun range. So far there are only a few things I want to do to it. I already replaced the license plate lamps with LEDs because it just looks better IMHO. I am going to convert all the rest of the bulbs too and install an LED flasher so the thing wont blink fast. (My 03 F150 had to have one so I assume the Edge wil too.) I'm going to order a fog light add on kit and just relay it off my low beams (or probably my park lamps, since I'd probably like them to just run all the time with any exterior lights). I found a thread on here about the wheel skins, and I think that looks pretty sharp. I might order some off ebay once I do some research and see how they hold up. But for being pretty cheap it's kinda hard not to just get a set and try it out myself. Lol. The only think I want to do to it that I am unclear on how to is I'd like to take the roof rack off it. I think they look better without it, and we'll never use it anyway. My research shows I'll have to replace the whole strip down each side, instead of like a snap in cap just to cover the mounting locations (which would have made more sense I'd think.) Anyway, hope I can add to the wealth of knowledge around here if needed. Thanks ahead of time for all the info you all have already posted.
