  1. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00138FAMQ/ref=oh_details_o05_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The bolts I added. I also added the bottom set of "nuts" as my car only came with one set at the top like most. It WILL NOT fit on the front black bracket. Too big to fit in the recess.
  2. It uses 3M adhesive. The "color" of the chrome is not an exact match to factory. I used it to cover some scratches on the leading edge of the hood. It looks good. Nobody has noticed the off color. When I mention it they attribute it to the sharper angle of the hood at that point and the way the light reflects off but then they look closer and say "Yeah, I see what you mean". To sum up... if you want factory looking chrome this aint it. It sticks on with 3M tape and is VERY flush. If you get one INSPECT ALL the tape backer for cuts intentional or not. They tell you to peel it off from the middle a little and the end to get it started so you can have it on the hood and slowly peel outward from the middle. Guess what, mine was cut in one more spot between the end and middle so I was stuck trying to get that tape out. Thanks exacto knife! Mine also already took a rock or something and is knicked, its black on that spot now... I think the chrome is very thin.
  3. As far as puddle lights you will have to add the wires and make your own holes for it. I don't get why putting a hole in the mirror housing at the bottom for an LED would be such a big deal? Its not like its a sealed unit anyway. I want to do the same and want to avoid making holes for wires so I am going to look in to getting a wire harness plug from a junkyard and remove the pins and re-use them so it will look factory. I'm not sure what the inside of the mirror looks like yet, it may have a plug there too or just hard wired. I know all the pins are present on the outside of the mirror where the harness connects. The socket just isn't completely populated with wires/contacts. I want to do the same for my HID kit. LOL.. well it looks like I will get a chance to do a detailed inspection of the mirror housing etc... I back in to my garage and the passenger mirror pressed in to the wall rather than hit it and fold and the end broke. I took it apart and have it working but the edge is cracked and missing lots of pieces so I ordered a new one. Now I can inspect and test to my hearts content on a bum mirror !
  4. $99 - Aeroskin Chrome Bug Guard: http://www.autoanything.com/deflectors/61A5591A0A0.aspx (TIP on above... BE SURE to check along the full length of adhesive backer for breaks/cuts. You don't want to be prying it up because the backer is cut or broken and you didnt know it while pushing it down) ~$17 - HomeLink visor remote from eBay in the "tan" color and a couple of feet of wire and a cheap radio shack connector for easy removal. $29.99 - 30W LED Backup Lights: http://www.ebay.com/itm/30W-High-Power-T10-921-912-168-Xenon-Cree-XB-D-LED-Backup-Reverse-Light-Bulb-/111176913733?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19e2a91345 $44.99 x 2 - 3457a / 3157A 50W (Amber) LED Bulbs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&vxp=mtr&item=321246347010 $44.99 x 2 - 3157 50W (White) Bulbs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&vxp=mtr&item=321246347796 $4.99 - License Plate Light LED: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&vxp=mtr&item=321246347796 $9.59 X 2 - 42MM Rear Seat/Cargo LED Lights: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111037872236?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 $8.40 - 168 Map Light LED: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-White-T10-194-5730-6-SMD-LED-High-Power-License-Plate-Interior-Light-Bulbs-/331014605893?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d12020c45 $149.98 - OSRAM DRL Kit with turn signals: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251314348828?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 $66.50 - Chrome Plated Rear Hatch Trim (Like on the limited) : http://www.ebay.com/itm/370841264259?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 (TIP... It came mostly flat. I used a heat gun to slowly and gently curve it while it was hot. I only applied heat to the inside surface that was not finished. I was afraid the constant pulling to straighten out would win out against the 3M adhesive) $33.29 - Flip Open Key so it doesnt jab me in the pocket: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281068481891?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 $58.99 - 35W 9006 5000K HID Conversion: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121142656252?var=420155366457&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 $7.34 - Chrome License Plate Frame: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00138FAMQ/ref=oh_details_o04_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 $19.99 - Large Window Sun deflector: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CD9FX12/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (See Top Aeroskin pic and you can see the bottom of the deflector. The dealer stacked the floor mats in the back and I didnt inspect them. The drivers had a hole probably from stiletto heals or something. This heel pad along with 3M #88 adhesive worked perfectly, looks great, covers the hole and adds a nice touch for almost nothing. http://www.heelpadwarehouse.com/small-heel-pad/ $797.80 Dang! A bit more than I thought but I forgot about a few things until I looked at my ebay/Amazon history! As you can see I am a big eBayer. If I can get good quality or even OEM quality for cheap prices I will do it. If you are interested in doing any of these changes yourself in order of "wow" change factor from biggest WOW to least WOW: HIDS LED Backup Lights DRL's Interior LED License Plate LED Chrome Handles Aeroskin Turn signal/Rear LED's. (While they are noticeably brighter there wasnt much "WOW" after the install) The bumper protector, aeroskin were to hide scratches in a used car. The key was so I don't get poked in the pocket. Edit: Sorry for the so-so pics... it has been raining for days
  5. Hello everyone. I am new to the Ford Edge/crossover/SUV platform of vehicle. It generally takes me a year or so from seeing a vehicle for the first time to deciding I really do want one. My first car was actually a used 1982 Ford F100 pickup. I drove that until I bought a brand new 1994 Mustang. I kept the pickup for several years (rarely driving it.. I mean who would when you have to choose from a pony or a rusty old PU) before having to have it towed off. From there I bought a year old 2002 Explorer Sport Trac. The end of Sept. I purchased slightly used blue 2012 Ford Edge SE. One of the first things I do when I purchase a car is look for ways to add features I want that it didn't or wouldn't have come with and customize it. That quest brought me to this fine forum brimming with information and how to's. I am definitely not someone who is afraid to take things apart and get dirty. As an example my wife's Chrysler van didn't come with a backup camera but it has one now integrated in to the rear view Ford Sync mirror that has a built in LCD I bought for it. I ran an auto service center for 8 years and dabble a lot in electronics and building custom one of a kind things to fill a specific need. When I got the Edge one of the first things I noticed were nicks on the wide flat part at the front of the hood. I bought an AVS Chrome Aeroskin Hood Protector from AutoAnything. I like it but the chromes reflective surface doesn't quite match factory chrome. If not for the sharp difference in the angles on the hood where it attaches to the rest of the chrome on the front of the hood I would have been much less happy with the look. See for yourselves: After that I installed the Home-link garage opener remote in my visor (it was in some ways easier than I thought and in others harder...) I looked at lighting and replaced all interior lamps with LED's and now the exterior lamps as well. I found DRL's online (sorry Dan, not from you but they look like yours) and lastly bought and installed HID lights and ended up with a "near as I could get" factory HID installation. I plan on doing some write-ups with pics on the HID upgrade and post some before/after shots of the LED lighting along with info on cost and where it came from. For everything I have done I have spent $500 or less and lots of elbow grease. My next projects are cracking the front entertainment display to wire in a backup camera and then going from there to puddle lighting/mirror turn signal indicators and possibly a rain sensor since a lot of it's circuitry is already present. I am also seriously looking at opening the front headlights and putting in HALO rings as well as the strip LED's. I have factory wiring and service manuals so I am doing things as close to factory as I can. I hope to be a valued contributor before long and long time Edge member!
  6. I bought the OPT7/ExtraHID (Same company) 9006 conversion kit at 5000K brightness 35 watt kit and its working great. I thought about the 55W kit but decided against it as it would probably get me flashed by oncoming traffic according to other posters on here. I plan to do a full write-up with photos as I installed the wiring in to the fuse box. as well as the kits wiring in the lamp housing. I'm just waiting or actual fuse terminals to come in the mail to get the final product pics. To answer the question about the wiring, I have the wiring diagram from ford, there is an independent, one for each side that is, direct to battery connected (via the fuse box under the hood) 20 amp circuit that powers the factory ballast. The rest of the wiring is the same. The kit I bought has a relay and is wired in to the plug that goes to the halogen light. The purpose of this is to activate the relay switching power to the HID ballast. The factory ballast is wired similarly. Direct battery power and the same two wires that went to the halogen bulb +12v from the control switch and ground presumably to switch it on like the relay does.
  7. There are several on eBay. Cree 30W and 50W. Just search 4 for Rear taillight: 3157 LED 50W 2 for Front Blinker: 3457A LED 50W 2 for Rear Blinker: 3757A LED 50W technically you will find the last two are the same. The rear blinkers should probably be 30W because the 3757 is not as bright as 3457 There is a store selling them in pairs for $44 As far as not fewer injuries in the 50's.... that's because they don't count fatalities as injuries
