  1. Have anyone experienced that the screen is freezing up when they hang up the phone while using hands free ? (bluetooth)

It is freezing up the buttons on the steering wheel as well as voice commands.

I am desperate to hear about owners with same issues because multiple dealerships in my area says its nothing wrong with it,.

They diagnose it through the OBD2 port which as far as I know, is controlling the ECU( engine control unit ) and not the APIM which is

controlling the infotainment system. Feedback anyone PLEAAAASE !!!

    Hi RocketDog,

I suggest trying a system reset: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/SYNC-3-Supplement-version-2_sycsy_EN-US_10_2015.pdf The instructions are on page 113.

  2. I'm experiencing a few really annoying issues with SYNC and was wondering if it may be an indication of an impending failure of the APIM:

    1. Back in March I ordered the A7 map update and by August I was receiving an error indicating that the navigation SD card had failed. HERE Maps kindly sent me a new A7 card and all is well except occasionally I will see "insert navigation SD card" warnings. I don't do anything and the message goes away eventually.

    2. Bluetooth pairing with my iPhone seems to be FUBARed. When I start the car, I find that I am in a speakerphone call with myself. I see "my number," and an "end call" button in the phone quadrant as if I'm in a phone call. I don't hear the Sirius channel that I'm tuned to, just dead air. I tried re-pairing the phone to no avail.

    3. Other odd quirks that I cannot recall.

Should I have the car serviced at a dealer? Might this fall under the extended APIM warranty coverage? Thanks.

    Hi Kissel,

Like akirby suggested, reboot your phone and try a master reset: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/settings/how-to-perform-a-master-reset.html If you're still experiencing issues, a dealer visit is needed.

  3. 2014 Edge Limited with Sony Premium Stereo. I purchased this Edge new and never had a problem playing music and Podcasts from my iPod until now 2.5 years later.

I confirmed the iPod works fine in my speaker dock in my work shop, but when I connect it to my Edge I can't get it to play anything. What's interesting is that once I connect it to my Edge, it sync's and recognizes it and in fact my whole library of music and podcasts is available on the screen in my car. I will pick a song to play or a Podcast to listen too and it shows that item on the screen but simply will not play it. I can fast forward to the next song etc and it shows the new song on the display but again won't play it. It's as if it's on pause, but pushing the play/pause button does nothing and the timer shows 00:00 and stays there.

I even tried verbally commanding it to play a new title, and sure enough that title on the screen switched to the one I asked for but it just sits at 00:00 and won't play it. It used to just play it automatically. Even just connecting my iPod, it would play automatically.

For the hec of it I tried a master reset of the system in the car setting, but it made no difference. I also tried a different cable from the iPod to the usb port, and I have tried both usb ports inside the console, but it still does the same thing and just sort of hangs there not playing anything. CD works fine as does the radio and all controls.

Anybody else have an issue like this, or have any other ideas for me?

    Hey Uncoiler,

What type of iPod is it? Also, have you verified that the SYNC software is up to date: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html

  4. That site is highly suspect. Both of my Samsung S6 phones have trouble working with Sync3. Trouble with phone contacts and I continuously have to un-pair them and then go through the process....again and again. I never had troubles with MFT or MLT. The dealer has looked at it 4 times now in my Edge....can't fix the issues.

    Hey Hermans,

If the dealer hasn't found a resolution to your issue, have them contact their Tech Hotline for further assistance.

  5. Hi commbubba19,

You're correct. MyFord Mobile is only for electric/hybrid vehicles. You're able to use AppLink with your iPhone; however, Apple requires the phone to be connected via Bluetooth and USB: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/sync-3/applink/how-to-use-mobile-apps-with-sync-3-and-applink.html

Also, the only apps that will be available are the compatible apps. You can find a link to the catalog in step 5 of the link above. By the end of the year, we are releasing an update that will include CarPlay which gives your more options as well: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/sync-3/apple-carplay/sync-3-plus-apple-carplay-support.html/

    Hope this helps!

  6.

Hmmm that kind of kills the whole idea of the feature. If use has to pull the phone out of pocket to launch the app.

Fortunately, in practice it works better than that. I dont need to manually start spotify etc. on my phone myself. I just select it from "mobile apps" or from audio sources and it automatically launches the app on phone (in my pocket).

Maybe Android just keeps those apps running all the time. Power saving kills those apps and thats why they disappear.

Oh well It doesnt matter to me anyway since spotify is so pricey I cant use it and Fordpass is an app which even the developers dont know the use of.

    No other relevant apps either.

    Hi luxpow,

You're correct. Android devices keeps the apps running in the background until you force quit it. However, iPhones must have the app running in the foreground.

  7. I want to completely update my Sync software (since I'm probably running the 3.2), but when I go on to the Owner site, it says that my software is up to date, and that was way back in 2013 when the car was originally purchased (I purchased it a couple weeks ago as a Pre-Owned). The navigation says "SD Card Fault" and gives a date from back in May of this year. Why not this? How can I update everything without any out-of-pocket costs (since I'm a broke man - lol)?

    Hi Pavehawk,

I responded to your PM. Check it out.

  8. I have just purchased a 2013 Edge Limited and having same issue also couple times already. I usually just have either my phone blutoothed in or my usb drive playing my music and I took it out of town first time this last weekend and it happed twice to me. I would push the voice button and I'd notice a small "ear" icon display where it should say "listening" and "she" doesn't say "please say a command" like usual.

Haven't done that reset yet,, thanks for the input.

    Hi toymachien,

Do you have the MyFord Touch: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/all/setup/how-to-identify-your-sync-version.html Let me know.
