  1. So I tried running my vechicle health report. The report it self run but when I receive the email it says that I mat register the vin #. I've deleted it and re entered it numerous times as wells as my email address. Still getting the same error. I also called customer service and was instant chatting them for well over an hour. They were having the same issues and couldn't figure it out. The guy said that somebody will be contacting be in 3-5 days and that was a week ago..anybody have any suggestions..

    Hi Donpdoug,

Did you receive a case number? If so, please send it or your VIN in a private message. I'll look into the case for you.

  2. Are you asking about the Google Voice Search? If so, it is Google's answer to Siri. Worked perfectly fine for three years on my 2013 Ford Edge now it does not work on my 2016 Edge with Sync3. Google Voice Search is active on more than 1.4 billion cell phones. The only answer the online support team gave me was to switch off bluetooth every time I wanted to use it. Then I would need to switch bluettoth back on to use my phone. That is very distrcting while I am driving and just not reasonable. Here is the post from the Sync support team.

After further research I found information on Android Auto online. It is available on Sync3 2.0. I have auto updates set to "on" and my system is still running Sync version 1.0. Can you help me find a way to manually download Sync3 2.0 and install via USB possibly/

Thank you for responding to my post!

    Hi Edgex007,

SYNC 3 latest software version is 1.0. An update to add Android Auto will be available later this year: media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2016/01/04/sync-apple-carplay-android-auto.html

I also recommend getting your voice heard on our Social site: Social.Ford.com

  3. Thanks Akirby for the response; however, and I should have mentioned this in the question, I have confirmed both times that I was not in privacy mode. Prior to the 2016 Edge, I had a 2011 Fusion with Sync, so checking to confirm I wasn't in Privacy mode was my first move.

    Hi AceMcGee24,

Like akriby suggested, try rebooting the iPhone. If that doesn't help, I also recommend a system reset to SYNC 3: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/SYNC-3-Supplement-version-2_sycsy_EN-US_10_2015.pdfInstructions are on page 113.

    Keep me posted.

  4. When was this update released? I've been waiting for an update since a few years ago because my current SYNC install has some very annoying glitches. Most annoying is that it doesn't save any of the customizations/settings you make (ambient lighting, dash lighting levels, etc)... they all reset the next time you start the car.

    Hi wes8398,

This update hasn't been released to everyone quite yet. You can always check your Owner account for available updates: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html

There are 2 files and a Syncmyride folder full of cab files. I downloaded the file, unzipped it and copied the files to the USB root directory. I have downloaded the file 2 or 3 times, unzipped it and repeated it multiple times with no success.

    winboy,

The update is not supposed to start automatically. You have to go to INSTALL APPLICATIONS in ADVANCED SETTINGS to initiate the install.

    To update SYNC:
    1. Press the PHONE button. You will either see PHONE MENU then PHONE REDIAL or CONNECTING.
1a. If you see CONNECTING, scroll to RETURN and press OK.
1b. If you see PHONE MENU then PHONE REDIAL, scroll to SYSTEM SETTINGS and press OK.
    2. Scroll to SYSTEM SETTINGS and press OK.
    3. Scroll to ADVANCED and press OK.
    4. Scroll to INSTALL APP and press OK.

  5. Hey i just thought about something. When i went to pick up my Edge on delivery day. I entered the car and the screen was cracked. Wich was not when i tested drive the car. Anyway they replaced it. Could they have forget to reset or do something and its why i have problems updating sync??

There is a known issue with downloading/installing version 4.4. I received your PM; we can continue to work there. I'll need additional information.

  6. Thanks - I've tried everything, including night mode, but it doesn't really change it. Plus, night mode changed everything in the dcreen, if I recall - not just the map. The basic problem is that Ford is using light colors for both the roads and the background, so it's very hard to distinguish between them (for me, at least). The car was built in 2/2016, so it should have the latest Sync on it

    Hi seville009,

Other than day & night mode, there isn't a way to adjust the colors of the screen. I recommend sharing your concern on our Social site: Social.Ford.com Our engineers monitor it for suggestions and feedback. Also, there hasn't been any updates for SYNC 3, so the first version is current.

  7. I'm looking for help/advice. I have a 11 sport,50k miles. I've had problems with disappearing buttons on the touch screen since I bought it, I took it in to the dealership numerous times only to be told either; they did a update because mine was out of date,or they did a hard reset, or they could not replicate the problem. Fast forward 5 years and 6 mos, I had it back in dealership with video proof of the problems, the techs were blown away by the video proof as they had never seen that issue. According to them they were on the phone with Ford engineers all day going through all kinds of tests. Come to find out the apim is bad. My warranty expired Sept 2015,so now I'm on the hook for a $865 repair bill when the problem has been there all along. My question is has anyone had any luck dealing with Ford Customer service on something like this? I'm banging my head against the wall, this is a very common known problem, but I feel Ford is turning their back on me. Any suggestions welcome

    Hi Nbayerl,

Please send your VIN, best contact number, mileage, and the dealer's information in a private message. I'll take a look into this for you.

Try to contact the official Ford IVT representative here on the forum & explain your issue. I guess it would really help if you have evidence of reporting the same issue while your car was still under warranty.

    omar302,

    Thanks for summoning us!

Try them @FordService on Twitter also if you don't get a response here. Sadly, there has been quite a dropoff in their visible presence on this forum.

    WWWPerfA_ZN0W,

I support Twitter as well. :)

  8. I downloaded the v3.8 update from the ford website, extracted the zip file, then transfered the files to a usb drive. Went into my 2013 EDGE, ran the update, after the screen saying please leave the car running, a window opens and say bad installation file, one or more of the files being installed on your system did not install successufully. Its step 4 out of 8. What do i do?? i did a master reset, twice and nothing seems to work, i tried to install it manually without success.....please help..

    Hi Gateside,

Can you please provide the name of all files and folders on the root directory of your USB? If you choose to reformat and start over, as akirby suggested, make sure it's formatted to FAT32.

Get back to me when you get a chance.

  9. I too wondered about when this update will be offered. Just bought a new 2016 Edge this week and was told it was available now, clearly it's not. How will I know when it's available however? I want to be sure to start using it asap and was wondering if I will receive notice from my dealer, Ford, or ?

    Hey Spartyof83,

akirby is on the right track! The update will appear in your Owner account: Owner.Ford.com Once you're logged in, select the SYNC & VEHICLE FEATURES tab then CHECK FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES. You can select REGISTER if an account needs to be created.

  10. Shaay: Sync Update issue is corrected, Dealer found an issue with the APIM and the work order shows that they "updated APIM via USB drive - retest OK".

Had experienced issues whenever the MFT or Sync was doing "scheduled updates" in that the system will bombed-out and not reload until after the vehicle

was turned off for a few hours. Had a bad experience in a trip to the East Coast when I needed the Navigation maps software the most. Morning after

arriving at the destination the MFT/Sync was performing as if nothing had ever happened. What I have read indicates this "APIM" module has a history of

problems so will take that into consideration the next time an update is available.

Thanks for you insterest and hope those reading these postings can benefit from them - have the dealer check the Advance Protocol Interface Module (APIM)

if they are having problems performing the flash drive updates or with the automatic "schedule maintance updates".

Closing this as Lesson Learned: 0001

Great to hear! If you have any other SYNC questions, don't be shy. :)
