  1. I discarded the old one when the new one was installed and worked ok. Wish I had kept it.

    Hi jhahnwx,,

I agree with enigma-2. Try the SD card in another vehicle at the dealer. This will help isolate the issue. If it works, the dealer will need to diagnose why your system isn't recognizing it. Keep me posted.

I have a 2015 Ford Edge SEL that has a problem with the navigation SD card faulting out. It currently has the SD 6 card in it from when I bought it. It seems to act up more when it is sitting outside in the heat then any other times....... How do I fix this problem ?

    Thanks , Wayne

    Waynesworld,

Did you remove the SD card and try a master reset: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/settings/how-to-perform-a-master-reset.html

  2. I have a 2015 Edge (the new model) and it's still under warranty. I just got the Nav SD Card fault that tells me to insert the SD Card. Removing and reinserting doesn't help. I tried a master system reset and that didn't work. The Ford Owner websites says my software was last updated in May 2015 (when the car was built) and that it is the latest. Appreciate any feedback on what to do next.

    Hey wmc6632,

I suggest taking the vehicle to the dealer and have them look to see if you received a faulty SD card. If you did, contact HERE Maps to have them replace the card with a functioning one. You can contact HERE at 866-462-8837 or at www.navigation.com

  3. Hi mark.in.tulsa,

Congrats on the new-to-you Edge! Let's check for software updates. Version 3.8 is the most current update available. Go to the Owner site to check your version: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html If you're behind, please see a dealer to have it installed: https://owner.ford.com/dealer-locator.html

  4. Thanks..I have tried the master reset and that did not help. There is a Field Service Action available (12M02) for the APIM but I don't know what the criteria are for getting that fixed. It is off warranty and don't really want to dump a ton of cash into fixing it. I already had to cough up an arm and a leg for a door-ajar sensor in the driver door which was not cheap. Silly things like that should be covered as far as I am concerned.

Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure if the No GPS sign was happening prior to the sync update. I don't *think* it was which is why I feel this is all software related. I had called Ford about the A7 maps and they suggested that there was an issue with the card reader. I can't see how that is possible considering the fact that if the map goes in error, I can still put my A4 maps back in and all works normal again (other than the No GPS badge). Add to that the fact that the A7 map will work in it's current state in another vehicle.

Sure the "what" is clear...it's the conditions that are not.

    Hi JeffGerardWpg,

akirby is on the right track. If the issue is being caused by a faulty APIM, it would be replace at no cost to you. It was extended to to 5 years. There may be a cost associated if the issue is determined to be caused by something else. Please work with the dealer to resolve this issue. They're in the best position to assist.

  5. Does anyone know if it is possible to reload as an end user? I bought my 2011 Edge SEL (used) in June of this year and the first thing I did was update Sync from Gen2-v2.8 to Sync2-v3.8. Everything seemed to go fine for me except I have been having issues with Nav. I bought the vehicle with A4 maps and purchased A7 from ebay. The first map card worked for a few days then failed with "navigation system error - insert a valid memory card" (or similar) so I contacted the seller and he agreed to replace it. I decided to try reading the card in my laptop and after doing so, it started to work again. After a few days, however, it died again. So I received a replacement card and all seemed well....but then the new card died. When Sync stops recognizing my card, all I have to do is connect it to my Windows laptop and do a chkdsk. It finds no errors but the card starts to work again.

Something to note...when the A7 nav card fails, I can *always* put the original A4 back in and that card will still work.

My co-worker also purchased A7 from the same ebay seller and has had no issues. In fact, my card died again yesterday and I gave it to him as is to try in his 2015 Explorer and it worked fine. I am convinced this is a software issue. I would like to reload if possible but I can't find the files to download. Does anyone still have the link?

Also, I saw mention of the GPS with an X through it for about 15 minutes after first starting the car. I have this issue. There was a link to a forum on syncmyride but apparently that forum no longer exists

I mentioned both of these issues to my local Ford dealer and they basically told me they'd have to hook up the car to their system and charge me $114 to do that. After that, who knows as it's off warranty.

So, can I, as end user, reload sync?

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi JeffGerardWpg,

The option to reload the SYNC update is not available. If you're seeing the No GPS sign, the issue may be hardware related and not software. Try a master reset: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/settings/how-to-perform-a-master-reset.html If that doesn't work, a dealership visit is needed. Keep me in the loop!

    Hi firebird91,

tpm419419 is correct. Please see a dealer to have the update installed: https://owner.ford.com/dealer-locator.html Version 3.8 was removed from accounts, and is no longer available for self installation.

  7. So I connected my phone and was surprised to see that text message reading is now gone. Anyone else experience this? Maybe its a the Android marshmallow upgrade that took it away? Im not sure when it exactly happened since I dont connect my phone everytime im in the car, just bummed that its gone after I had it. Any help is appreciated.

    Hey Edgieguy,

When you paired the phone to the vehicle, did you allow SYNC to access your text messages? Android phones require permission at the end of the pairing process. If you don't say yes, it automatically defaults to off. You may want to try pairing the phone with a clean connection and watch the phone closely at the end of the process. For more info on the text feature, check out this link: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/sync/using-your-phone/how-to-listen-and-reply-to-text-messages.html?sync=sync

  8. My volume control button and the call hang up button on my steering wheel in my 2013 Edge used to work intermittently and then a few weeks ago they completely stopped working. Tonight, I took it the old one out and replaced it with a brand new OEM switch cluster. I put it all back together and the volume button and call hang up button still don't work. But the SYNC voice command button and everything else in the switch cluster work. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Maybe bad wiring or a loose connection? I'm at a loss for what it could be. When it was all pulled apart all the wiring appeared to be fully intact. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Tmcharest,

I recommend checking to see if there's a software update available. If there isn't, perform a master reset on the vehicle. Check out the links below:

  9. Hi bb56,

I recommend trying a master reset to fix the missing info: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/settings/how-to-perform-a-master-reset.html

On the SYNC update page, you should be able to view the full history: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html Select FULL SYNC HISTORY under the picture of your vehicle. You can also send a private message with your VIN; I can look into the software.

  10. Hey Everyone!

I certainly understand your frustrations regarding the navigation issue after the V3.8 update was installed. However, the good news is, it can be restored and working properly. It's important to state your thoughts and opinions regarding this issue since your time and concerns are very valuable to us. Please visit http://social.comand make your voice heard.

When I press Aux I get the sync media screen and on it it says sync line in even though I have taken the USB stick out! The only 2 options on that screen are shuffle and info button in which the shuffle button can be changed to on or off but info button doesnt do anything!

I suggest visiting a Ford dealer for assistance: https://owner.ford.com/dealer-locator.html They'll be able to help with the master reset and continue to troubleshoot if that doesn't work. Keep me updated!
