  1. Drove it last night in some bad snow...stuck in 5 MPH traffic for most of the ride. Tires slipped twice shortly...otherwise no issues. Still miss the AWD though.
  2. Just bought a 2013 SEL FWD...I'd owned an AWD Mariner before and it handled great in the snow. I was a little nervous about buying a FWD SUV, but I did it anyway considering that we rarely get serious snow here in MD and when we do, the FWD cars I've owned before always handed fine in it, so I'm eager to see how the Edge does. Brand new tires should help. We're expecting 3 inches here tonight so I may report back on this tomorrow.
  3. Thanks. Here in MD we get some snow here and there but nothing that a FWD can't handle most times and I don't go offroading, so as I was approaching my new car buying experience I said that I wouldn't make AWD a mandatory feature. I probably would have taken the BAMR over that too! My Mariner had some problems with the PTU, was leaking lots of fluids...so no worry about that now. Just curious, how hard/easy are these to work on yourself? Like changing the oil, fuel filter, brakes, filters, etc? I got pretty handy with my Mariner, and since this is a Ford I am hoping things will be pretty straightforward again.
  4. Should I be kicking myself for not holding out for AWD? I'm looking to get the roof rack by spring so I can throw the kayak up there. Tint front windows. Probably get a K&N Air Filter when this one needs replacing. Beyond that, probably some minor accessories.
  5. I just started another thread about this issue...being new here I should have searched the subject before starting a new thread. So the Motorcraft site lists the 2 kit numbers. I definitely need both to install the roof rack, correct? I'll check with some Ford dealers to see if they have them in stock at a cheaper price....
  6. Hello, New Edge owner here. My SEL didn't come with the roof rails, and I am looking to cut corners and avoid spending the $600 to have the dealer install it. I'd like to have the factory look of the rails, so I am hoping to get the Ford rail but at a cheaper cost. Anyone have any ideas?
  7. I bought a 2013 Edge SEL over the weekend. I'd been driving all the smaller SUV's (Escape, Sportage, CX5, Tuscon, etc...) and the Edge was priced cheaper than most of them so I went with it since I've always been a big fan of the Edge so I couldn't pass up the deal. The only drawback is that the two they had left on the lot were FWD and no vista sunroof. Which isn't a total loss since my old car, a AWD Mercury Mariner had a bad rear differential and a leaky sunroof. So I wont have to worry about that anymore. I was a big fan of the Escape City forums, so I look forward to being a part of the Edge community. Thanks. Sean from Maryland.
