  1. One of the things I loved about my old Edge and Mariner was being able to leave keys in the car and lock it so I don't have to carry keys around at a ball game or while I'm floating on the river. I was hoping to leave keys in car while at airport but it appears like this is a dicey scenario, at least to test it out. I guess I'll just have to lug them around Europe for 2 weeks.
  2. My 2 week old Edge roof is closing but I have noticed there is a slight gap between the glass and the seal. I'll be away for 2 weeks starting tonight and my car is going to sit in a parking lot and I'm worried about rain getting into the car while I am gone. Anyone else notice this? I'll try to post a picture.
  3. So I just bought a 2017 Titanium AWD. It's fully loaded...it's got stuff I didn't even know existed! Traded in a 2013 SEL FWD. It was an awesome car and it'll be missed. I don't believe I had a single issue with it during the 56K miles I owned it. I was a little sad letting it go. One thing I did notice is that the seats feel more narrow and stiff...dare I say it almost feels like sitting in an airplane seat. Maybe I'll get used to them, but my old Edge had the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in. Also, there seems to be hardly any head room. I was wondering if my seat was not lowered all the way, but it is. But those two observations aside, this new Edge is amazing. Really excited to learn about all of the features. Excited about having AWD again. Never really seemed to miss it with the FWD Edge, but I am glad I wont have to worry about driving in snow or on some light off-road stuff anymore. And that sunroof! My old Edge didn't have one. It's been pouring here since I bought it but I can't wait to crank that baby open! I'll post some pictures when the weather clears up.
  4. Finally got around to doing this last night. It was easy. Unscrew the two screws on both sides of the inside of the door for the long trim under the window, pry it out a little bit so you can get to the bottom of the door pillar molding. Pry it off with a flathead screw-driver and be careful not to scratch or dent any part of the door that will be visible. Once I got it pried out enough I used my hands to pull it off to avoid any dents or scratches. The new pillar trim installs easily -- two clips go into the holes and the adhesive tape holds it in place. Make sure all the trim goes back flush against the pillar trim.
  5. I just ordered a replacement part. Anyone ever removed and installed a new one of these? Looks like theres a screw that needs to come out to release the long thin trim that runs along the bottom of the window. Hoping not to mess anything up and make things worse.
  6. Yeah, I've looked. No Edge's to be found around me, which is kinda strange. You'd think at least one from the last 10 years would exist somewhere.

  10. Looks like Ford Part number 20554 or 255A34. It's the driver side front door pillar moulding. Mine was dinged in a parking lot, and looks terrible. I see it every time I open my door. Not sure which part number this would be since it would be specific to the front door, and driver side. Can anyone help?
  11. Fixed it last night. The groove is not deep at all. Seems to be back to normal now. Thanks guys. Happy 4th to all.
  12. So I just felt the rotor where the clip is rubbing against it. I can feel a groove on the rotor. My question is, will reinstalling the clips correctly and then braking eventually smooth them out? Or will this create a hot spot on the pads and cause them to wear irregularly? Did I just royally screw myself?
  13. So I am at work now but I took a look at the clips and I think one of the sides are installed wrong since they look different. I attached pics of the passenger side and driver side for comparison. If I had to guess I'd say the passenger side is wrong. Any advice? EDIT: So it's definitely the passenger side!!! I can see the scratch marks on the rotor from the clips being backwards!!! Crap!!! I hope I didn't ruin these new rotors!!!
  14. Replaced front pads and rotors. Cleaned and greased up the caliper pins and contact points on the pads. Could be the clips...when I have some time I will buy new ones and replace them and check everything else.
  15. When I turn. Replaced them 2 weeks ago and just started to notice it a few days ago, even after talking a 600 mile road trip. Had no problems at all on the trip, but now starting to get some rubbing noises when I make turns and enter traffic circles. Replacement was pretty easy -- no issues but the brake pad clips were giving me some issues setting down in the grooves. I am wondering if they are rubbing against the rotor. I guess I should have just bought some new clips but they cleaned up pretty well and seemed in good condition after 50K miles.
  16. I had to replace 2 tone rings on my '05 Mariner. Wasn't so expensive back then but definitely something I couldn't do on my own.
  17. I've done the rear pads before...5 months ago. LOL. That's when I couldn't get the rotors off and just changed the pads. It was a $60 lesson learned.
  18. Just replaced front pads and rotors. Took it for a spin and the pulsating was gone. Going to do rears next time I have a chance. Hoping those screws don't give me a fight, I've got an impact driver to get them out.
  19. Took it to the shop just in case it was something besides the rotors. I didn't want to put money into the car where it wasn't needed. They said the rotors were warped so I will replace them this week. Brake pedal was a little soft, and didn't give much pushback when pressed hard, so I was starting to think it could have been bad booster, but apparently not.
  20. Just did the quick check of the brake booster -- pressed the brake pedal, turned off the engine and held for 30 seconds. The brake pedal instantly came back up. Does this mean the booster is bad?
  21. Hi. 2012 SEL FWD. 51K. I had a pulsating brake pedal earlier this year and set out to replace all pads and rotors in January of this year. However I couldn't remove the rotors (I now know the fronts are corroded on the hub and the rears have a screw which I have an impact driver for) so I just replaced the front and rear pads. This didn't fix the problem. My question is, when I replace the rotors this weekend, should I put on new pads? Or will the ones that are on there now, around 5 months old, still be OK? Like I said, the brake pedal is pulsating...I know the pads could have worn unevenly, and they're not that expensive to replace but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on whether or not they would still be OK...it's only been 5 months and about 5K miles, if that.
  22. Ford Edges don't have traditional fuel filters, correct?
  23. Give me the 3.5L. Easier to work on and maintain IMO. And what is the difference between EB and 3.5 when it comes to towing? Just something to consider... I'm going to change out the coolant at 60K and hope that prevents the water pump issue. Otherwise I'll probably only put around 120K miles on it before I want to trade it in while it still has some value. But I'll probably keep it for 6-7 years all said and done.
  24. Yeah I use them on steep hills. Sometimes I just use it for fun. Otherwise, the Sport mode basically does the same thing without having to remember to shift. The gears reset to 1st when you come to a stop and sometimes I forget I'm in manual and the engine revs really high before I remember. LOL My wife has an EOS with the DSG transmission and THAT'S like driving a real manual.
