Lots of dead space on the back of the 15 Edge. The same complaint I have with the rear of the RAV4.

Behind the climate control panel...

Mine has the gap underneath the console storage department, too. I would have never noticed it if not for this thread. -
Mine has handled fine in the snow. I love the look of the Limited & Sport wheels but all things I've read have pointed to a rougher ride, lower MPG and poor handling in the snow. My FWD SEL has handled well so far. I may have to buy some snow cables in the future but while the tires are brand new they handle just fine in the snow. And I can turn off traction control in about 5 seconds on my Edge.

Since I bought my Edge I've been noticing a lot about the cars I see on the road...noticing more Edges, more of the SUV's I test drove, and so on. One thing that I have noticed in the last month and a half is a lot of Chevy Traverses on the road. Anyone else seeing them a lot?

Calling for 10-16 more inches later this week.

I'm thinking of hunting down a used roof rack at a junk yard, if I can find it. Do you think I'd be able to take it apart cleanly enough so that it would install on my vehicle without any issues?

It's done here now. It was a wet sloppy snow but the roads are fine and the snow started melting as soon as it hit the ground.

Snowing here again today...expect 5-8 inches. Ugh. I was going to wash it yesterday (it got close to 60F) but with the snow in the forecast, I hosed off the salt instead and while it could have greatly benefited from a thorough washing, just hosing off the salt made it look so much better. The benefit of having a white car. I am really looking forward to a 60 F plus day and spending a few hours washing my car.

call me fickle - why "they" win

The Jeep Cherokee was my favorite SUV I test drove, and I even test drove the 4-cyl because I knew the V6 would have been out of my price range. Even with the 4-cyl and the features I wanted, the Cherokee was still out of my price range. Of course the Jeep GC is nicer because they're $10-15K more than an Edge. The Cherokee was just a few K more, but the Trailhawk is $40K. Ford could use some of the cheap and easy creature comforts like bag holders in the rear, although my cargo net does the job. -
My Edge barely has 1000 miles on it and it's totally encrusted with salt from the snow we've had here in MD the last few weeks. I want to take it through a car wash so bad but I am going to the dealer tomorrow to have something replaced and I'm hoping they'll wash it for me. Anyone else's car totally covered in salt?

On SiriusXM they run commercials for BG fuel cleaner and then another company...forget which one...runs commercials basically calling out those BG commercials saying that additives aren't necessary. I did add Lucas fuel cleaner to my 2005 Mariner every time I did an oil change but I never really noticed any increase in MPG...even when I replaced the fuel filter. I don't think I'll be adding anything to the fuel on my Edge.

I've got the SEL FWD without the appearance package. Sound system is good, but I am sure the Sony rocks.

I may have spoken too soon. I didn't notice a sloppy shift today. It's going to get super cold here again so I'll pay attention to it and see what happens.
-
FWD. Brand new, under 600 miles. It's been cold...like really cold. But I noticed it too when the weather warmed up. More like a slow shift, with a hiccup.

I have this a bit too.

I used the Sport mode this morning on the drive to work. Took a slightly longer, more hilly way to test it out. Loved it. A lot more beef to the engine, slower upshifts & downshifts...great on hilly backroads and as a FWD owner I think this would work well in the snow. I did try quickly yesterday to see if the shifter button would work while the car was in "D" but I didn't notice any change in the engine. Maybe the button needs to be held in for a moment? I'll mess around with it the next time I drive.
-
Used it today and that's what it did. Comes in handy on hilly back roads.

Is there any difference when you put it in Sport and don't use the manual shifter?

I got mine with the car. With all the snow and ice we've had the last 2 weeks since I bought it they've come in handy!

What made you choose your Edge?
Mirage52 replied to Edgy Girl's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
I've always liked the Edge. Always. I went into my car buying experience not thinking I could afford one because they're priced above the compact SUV's, but not by much. I test drove them all, Tuscon, Encore, Sportage, RAV4, Rogue, Cherokee, CRV, CX5, Escape...I liked the Cherokee the best out of the bunch, with the Escape coming in a close second...but there were positives to all of the SUV's I drove and would have been happy walking away with any of them except for the Encore. However, the Ford dealer I went to had a good deal on a 2013 Edge I couldn't pass up. I loved the space, the smooth quiet ride, the powerful V6...I wish I had been able to snag a deal on a '13 with AWD and the moonroof but I am happy. Looking forward to getting some accessories on it, like a roof rack and some nerf bars. -
Before I bought my Edge I drove every compact SUV aside from the GM ones and the Outlander Sport. I ended up finding a deal on a 2013 Edge I couldn't pass up...the Edge drove smoother and had more power and space than any other SUV I'd driven. That said I went into the Honda dealer not wanting to like the CRV. I think they're soccer mom SUV's and I always feel like they look like base models. Honda is notorious for not giving you all the fixins, even on their highest level trim cars. That said, I did like the CRV. Drove smooth, had decent power from its 4-cyl and had good space. I would have walked away happy with just about any SUV I test drove but in the end the deal I got for the Edge was too good to pass up. Even for a FWD vehicle. If you wanted a good warranty, you should go with Kia or Hyundai. 10 yrs, 100K miles. Honda just has 3/36K I think...

Only 700 mi on the car before road trip, could the engine not be broken in yet?

Haha, I'm in Frederick, MD. Grew up in Catonsville. We just don't get a lot of snow, do we? I miss AWD but I read through the AWD forum here and I'm glad I don't have to look forward to a leaky PTU!

Thanks for the replies. I am also looking at snow chains/cables. I really just need something in case of a bad storm, to get to and from work, which is 8 miles away. I know 30 mph is the max speed for snow chains but I don't have a garage to store snow tires and here in MD I don't know if it snows enough to warrant spending the money for them and then paying to have them put on and taken off each year. Any advice?

Hello. I have a FWD '13 Edge. Just bought it and it handled well in the snow we received last night. But when the tires start to get worn, I wonder about its ability to handle itself in snow. I've never bought snow tires before, so I was wondering -- would I need 4 snow tires? Or just 2 for the front wheels? Also, would I need a shop to put them on and take them off whenever I needed them? Or is there a way to have them set on an extra wheel so I can do it myself according to the forecast? Of course that would require me to buy 2 extra wheel rims. Any advice would be great. Thanks.
