  1. Understand, the first repair is a "reset and check"....mine got replaced the second time I went in....
  2. My first car was a 1970 Ford LTD Brougham 2 door formal roof sedan. Bought it used in 1982 and the rotted frame broke three months after I bought it while trying to pull a "hole shot" in front of my buddies house....I took the motor and transmission and front clip and put it on a wrecked 1969 LTD XL sportsroof..... Pulled the motor and trans as one using my dads 1975 F250 Hi-Boy that had a Western all hydraulic snow plow on the front. The ram lifted the motor and trans enough to slide it out after I pulled the front clip off. Backed out and then drove it into the XL, then installed the clip....ahhh, those were the days....
  3. Yup...the g/f's Escape had the TPMS sensor go off. Did not tell which one...got out the trusty Craftsman digital guage and found the low tire...
  4. I always get Interstate when it is replacement time. Best damn battery on the market. Period.
  5. My 2011 MKX began exibiting the dreaded "driver door ajar" message in the dash.....first appeared about a month or two after I bought the car and they performed a "clean and reset" service to the door assembly and it worked fine, for a while. About 3-4 weeks ago, it began doing it again, so I brought it back to the dealer. This trip, they replaced the latch assembly (BT4Z-7821813-B ) under warranty. No problems....but.....a few days later, the door began to "whistle" when the HVAC fan was running....several return trips to the dealer for them to fix it. Very frustrating since it is one of those "whistling" noises that some cannot detect, but every time I had it in, they graciously offered me a loaner vehicle (always a Lincoln I would like to point out) Well...they finally tracked the problem to the ventilation tube in the door for the side glass defrosting vent....apparently, the tech that did the original job did not re-attach the door panel correctly making the fit a little loose internally...this caused a gap in the seam where the vent transitions from the dash to the door inside the panel and caused the HVAC system to push air between the panel and the door itself where it would escape from the inside rubber window seal causing the "whistling" sound. The dealership re-sealed the tube while there as well. All in all, I would say I am satisfied with the way the dealer accomodated me with the loaner and kept at it instead of trying to blow me off....but if any of you are going to attempt the repair yourself, make sure you get those vent tubes sealed back up and the door panel is back on 100%. If not, you might get some whistling sounds coming from the door area.
  6. And 12-18 months after, the MKT will be brought forth in the same form, but with a third row and similar updates to the styling...
  7. My door ajar issue is fixed via TSB 14-0011....seat track is in at the dealership and I will be returning on 4/7 to have it replaced....so far so good....car tracks a LOT better after the alignment, but when she is back in on monday, I will have them put the steering wheel back to a straight position....it is off centered after alignment....
  8. My "door ajar" issue was corrected (so far) by TSB 14-0011 at my Ford / Lincoln service.....not sure what exactly was done, but they did not replace the latch assembly.
  9. They did not elaborate on the TSB, just that they have a tool that "services" the door latch assembly...whatever that means, I really am not worried as long as I dont have to slam my door 2,3, 10 times to get the light to go out...maybe one of the Ford Techs that are here can describe exactly what TSB 14-0011 is....
  10. OK, alignment completed to address drifting / not centered feeling (much better 'feel' now) "door ajar" issue addressed via TSB 14-0011, new seat track ordered to address rocking / chucking driver seat during acceleration / deceleration (will have to return to have installed)....and as a bonus, they washed the car....overall, a satifying experience.
  11. My Lincoln dealership is a Ford / Lincoln store
  12. I just brought my 2011 CPO Lincoln MKX in for some service work. The dreaded "door ajar" light of death (lol), check the alignment, driver seat chucking in the track, and look at the moon roof retractable screen (puckering)...nothing all too serious, just some things....anyhoo....I got a loaner and it is a.... 2013 Lincoln MKZ. I am impressed, thought they would slip me a Focus or something along those lines....sweet ride!!
  13. My guess would be that MFT an MLT will be upgradeable as installed, but that you would be able to ditch SYNC and move to QNX for a licence fee...hope that any fee would be negotiatied and offered at a reduced price...along with a replacement plaque to cover the SYNC logo on the console....
  14. NYS is a "no-fault" state, but even when a traffic ticket is involved thereby assigning "fault" an insurance company will still try to get you to cough up something...true story; My 2006 Fusion was hit on the passenger front side and fender by a teen backing out of his driveway with mommy's Honda. Snowbanks on either side of the driveway and 10:30PM equals, I did not see him until his car was into my fender. His insurance attempted to claim that NYS allows them to assign "comparative blame" even though the kid got a ticket for unsafe backing onto a roadway. They assessed my portion at 10% blame...I refused to accept thier "summary judgement" and took them to court.....I won and they (Mommy's Honda insurance company) paid ALL damages plus a car rental, AND all court costs.
  15. Update: I had to re-schedule my appt but as soon as I get it in, I will report my results...
  16. Well....it worked for a while, but the dredded "door ajar" warning has returned...off to the dealership this friday and will have it looked at....CPO and extended warranty, so while I am at it, I will have them check the alignment, inspect the moonroof screen cover for puckering on the passenger side, and look at the driver seat track that is "chucking" or "rocking" in the track during acceleration and deceleration. So far, I love my Lincoln....great ride, but the MPG is a far cry from what my Fusion 2.5L got.....I'll have to adjust to that...lol
  17. My 2011 MKX is quiet, handles well (20" Pirellis grip the road well) and I have had zero problems thus far with My Lincoln Touch...sad to see it get a bad rap...
  18. On existing products that have Microsoft SYNC....if Ford makes it available to reload the system with a version of Blackberry ONX, will they also offer to remove the "SYNC by Microsoft" logos in the car? Will this be a minimal cost upgrade, a full cost upgrade, or free upgrade?
  19. Going to weigh in here....I just bought my 2011 Lincoln MKX and began to notice the "door ajar" signal forcing me to re-close the door....for some reason, I thought to myself, latch assembly problems? What if i used the manual key to lock and unlock the door a few times? I did several lock/unlock cycles with the manual key (aka, insert in lock, twist left and right several times) and I have not seen the "door ajar" light come on since.....not sure if they relate, but somehow, it seems to have helped....
  20. New receiver cover for my hitch....paying homage to my 1976 Mercury Montego MX....
  21. I will admit that when I step on the "loud pedal", she really sings for me....and having the factory installed class II hitch is a nice plus too!
  22. I really like my MKX....and one of the things I like is that I don't see myself coming and going ......see a lot of Edges....great car....but MKX has a level of cache that not everyone is driving one....not taking anything away from Edge, and almost bought one, but the MKX was that much nicer...at least to me....
  23. Many, many years ago...I briefly sold Lincolns and while yes, they may start as Ford sourced vehicles, the carpeting is thicker, the sound deadening underlayments are more robust, the upolstery is heavier...all those little things that you don't really "see" really do add up to a quieter and more sumpuous ride....now, spring rates and shock valving are enhanced. I did a restoration on a 1976 Montego MX (had several Torinos in my youth) and that thing had sound deadening batts stuffed all over the car.... I saved what I could and made sure that it all went back into the car. I am sure Ford still does that for the Lincolns....
