  1. So our '10 Edge keeps asking if we want to do a vehicle health report every 100 miles and its getting old. Is there a way to turn that feature off?
  2. I don't really hear it at slow turning speeds but more at highway speeds 55mph and up. Thanks for the posts. I am going to pull it in and check for slop sometime this week. I will check in later when I know more
  3. The car currently has 106k miles ('10 edge fwd) and we typically get 26-28mpg on the highway (unusually high from most reports) and our mpg has slowly been dropping. I know it has a strut bearing out on the front driver side. I also know my parents only ever had the passenger side strut bearing changed otherwise never had any work done from new until I bought it. Today on the highway I noticed a whine coming from the front passenger or rear of the car and experienced a low (for me) 23mpg. This screams tune up and/or wheel bearing time to me. Plugs look tight but manageable under the firewall but I haven't seen any wheel bearing and strut change threads w/ good pics, how too, and tools needed. Any help on good reading and perfered parts would be great (Moog, ford house, etc) Thanks
  4. I have interstate batteries in 4 diesel trucks and 3 diesel tractors, also a 6.0l gas Chevy, and my wife's edge. Most are 3 yrs old and start just fine.
  5. I will be using either mobile 1 or amsoil. I will likely do 7500-10,000 intervals pending oil samples. I will check out the manual, I probably have the original in the car but its easier to ask here. I just assumed if my old gm trucks had a life monitor then the fancy little ford car would have some form of oil change reminder.
  6. OK, I bought my parents '10 Edge SEL it pretty well fully loaded just no sun roof. My question is, "do these cars have an oil life monitor? Is there a way to know how close its getting to going off?" My mom said she has never seen it come on but she just does 3k oil changes. On all of my GM trucks w/ an oil life monitor I just follow that and it gives the life in a % that you can watch. Just wondering what fords method of alert is? Thanks for any help.
  7. Thanks for the review. I have been thinking of getting some sort of mud flap for ours.
  8. Congrats on the high mileage! Takes good maintenance and a good driver to get as far as you have. My parents drove our '10 right at 20K/yr. My wife put 40K on her 03 Chevy K2500 CCSB Gasser in 13months, w/ something that doesnt get 12mpg I bet she goes further. My mom averaged 26mpg to town and back, nearly 30 on the open road a few times, I hope my wife can replicate it. We plan to keep our car 5yrs which could put us near 300K miles or more.
  9. 2010 Edge SEL FWD 3.5 Air Raid Dry-Flow Intake (I will never run a K&N or oiled filter) Custom Tuning (I know there are tuners out there but I like options) High Flow Quiet Tone Exhaust (its a family rig after all) Headers or maybe these just need down pipes, I'm not all that familiar with these cars Stiffer springs that dont lower or lower very much (we live out in the sticks and drive down back roads alot) Heavier sway/stabilizer bars (might not be as needed after the springs) LED/HID Everything and cleared lenses
  10. That works just fine and does get 99% of the fluid out. If you don't know your cars history or are concerned about your fluid quality then I would suggest doing the trans cooler line method. If you aren't having issues then I think the drain and fill once per 50k would be just fine.
  11. I do a drain and fill on all of my trucks (gm diesels) and I plan to do the same on my wife's '10 Edge sel fwd. It has 100k miles on it mostly highway (was previously my moms) so I doubt its in bad condition. I will drain and fill once/yr or every 50k miles which ever comes first. We drove 120k miles between 3 HD diesel trucks and had a lot of car pooling, 50k/yr isn't out of reach for us.
