  1. I live in Louisville, KY and just bought my Edge 2 weeks ago with a $1500 rebate. On April 1 the rebate went up to $2500. Just my luck but I still love my Edge!
  2. I'im with you Hardhawk. I too have seen both colors. The Dark Ink Blue is a very deep navy blue while the Sport Blue is going to be bright and flashy with a lot more metallic showing.
  3. Yes, White Sand Tri-coat and White Chocolate are the same color. I work for an OEM paint supplier (not DuPont). Ford uses different names for Ford, Mercury and Lincoln colors even though they are the same color. As for DuPont, you should tell them they need to work on getting the front and rear fascias to match the body paint better. I just bought a new '08 White Sand Tri-coat Edge. I went to this color because the fascia matches were just atrocious on the Light Blue Ice and Vapor Silver.
  4. I work for an OEM automotive paint supplier. Ford is one of our many customers along with BWM, Mercedes, GM, Honda, Nissan and Subaru. If these defects are only on the interior I would definitely have them repainted at the dealership. These areas are painted for cosmetic reasons only and the lack of color there will not affect the durability of the finish. The aftermarket paint should last long after you have traded or sold your vehicle. If you have exterior defects like this then that is a different story. I doubt Ford will replace your vehicle even in this instance. Most likely, the only thing they will offer and will pay for will be a paint job from the dealership. Carbon is no longer offered as a color on the Edge. Otherwise, you might have been able to negotiate a parts change with factory painted parts.
  5. My salesman told me that SYNC will be offered as an add on either very late this year or the first quarter of next year. The current agreement between Ford and Microsoft prevents anyone purchasing SYNC other than a unit that is factory installed. When SYNC is offered on the aftermarket the salesman told me it would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of US $600 - 700. I have it on my Edge and I absolutely love it. If it weren't on my vehicle I would definitely consider paying for that upgrade. The handsfree phone is worth it by itself.
  6. I have driven the Escape in it's older form and the recently redesigned one. The 2008 Escape is a much more refined vehicle than its predecessor. That being said, the Escape with the V6 will drink as much or more gas than the larger Edge. I found the seats in the Escape to be a tad bit uncomfortable after riding in it for a while. The seats on the Edge are very comfortable for all passengers. One of the road tests i did before purchasing my Edge was riding in the rear seat. The rear seats on the Edge actually recline and are quite comfortable. I can't say the same thing for the Escape. I also found the Escape to have a great deal of road and engine noise. My Edge is definitely quieter on both counts. I haven't driven the other vehicles so I can't give you too many comments. I know both the Murano and the Vue have CVT transmissions. Many people don't like them while others do. Supposedly they deliver better gas milage but I don't know that this has actually been confirmed. I rented a Freestyle when it had the CVT. It took some getting used to. The Edge has a 6 speed transmission and is every bit as smooth shifting as the CVT is. I think you will find the ride and the roominess in the Edge will tip the balance that way.
  7. My 2008 Edge pulls to the left. I am assuming this is the same issue. I only have 425 miles on the vehicle. I willl be taking it to the dealer this weekend to have that fixed! It is driving me crazy, or crazier than I already am. Otherwise, this is a fantastic vehicle.
  8. Trailmanors are very nice but a bit pricey for what you get. Some of the newer high side pop-ups have microwaves and bathrooms in them. they weigh less than 3000 pounds and can include air conditioning as well as a furnace. Many also have hydraulic or electric mechanical lifts so you don't have to crank them up.
  9. That is a very nice trailer. However, with the Edge you won't be able to pull any type of "solid state" trailer. Your best bet is to get a pop-up. they are much lighter in weight and some of the new ones are as nice as the one you are looking at. The high sided pop ups even have microwaves and bathrooms in them. Many of them now have hydraulic or mechanical lifts so you don't have to crank them up. I have a 25' Coleman Caravan that I have on the market now. I traded in my tow vehicle, a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, for my Edge. I would love to keep the trailer but I have no way to pull it. I figure in the next couple of years the camping bug will strike again and I'll buy a pop-up.
  10. I just bought my new '08 Edge Limited last week. It came with the all weather floor mats from Ford. I was surprised to find that the standard carpeted floormats were also included. I had the Weathertech floor mats in my '00 Mercury Mountaineer. The grooves are a bit deeper in the Weathertechs but I think the Ford mats will work just fine.
