That is interesting that they changed out the rear hoses.(I wish you knew why?) I was told that mine would be changed out ONLY if they were leaking or damaged, but the old ones will be warrantied for another 5 years if they do start to leak or are damaged. I was not real happy to hear this because a failure at speed will / might be VERY dangerous.

Ok, I just got this "remedy available" notice from Ford. It seems replacement is only available now if the rear brake hose(s) are damaged or are leaking. They will inspect them first, and if found to be damaged or leaking will replace them. Apparently Ford will will repair later if a failure shows up in a 15 year window. I wonder if that is 15 years from new?

I tried to schedule an appointment for the brake hose replacement on my 2015 Edge 2 months ago and the dealer said they had not gotten approval from Ford to do the work. I called the parts dept. just to see if they had the new hoses and was told they had them in stock. What's going on here? Has anyone else had this problem getting the rear brake hoses replaced?

So am I reading this right, I've got no issue now, but have up to 15 years of coverage should the rear view view camera fail. Right? Do I need to get it inspected if I don't currently have an issue? I don't think so but... How many of you needed to have the rear view camera replaced on your Edge?

Me too! What I want to know is: Has anyone that has a state required exhaust gas check required ever had their Edge rejected for out of tolerance levels?

As the owner of a 2016 Edge powered by the 3.5 engine and made aware of the Achilles heel (internal water pump) that this engine has few years before I bought mine, but was not aware of the scope of this issue. One of the aspects of this issue that I am very interested in is what sort of mileage / time did you owners have on theirs when the problem showed itself? One other question is how proactive with preventive measures (reg. oil changes & coolant flushes) were you? When the pump took a crap, did you catch it before your motor was trashed, and if not, did you put another motor in, or was yours re-buildable? What sort of cost was involved in making your Edge “right” whether from a total failure or just replacing the pump with the other associated parts?

It is weird, and you have to wonder why now after all these years?

I wanted to revisit this item as I too have decided to "wait & see" if there were any other members that suffered dire consequences from getting this reprogramming done. If you have had issues not already expressed here please share your experience and what consequences you might have had. Thanks!

Do you think they will? I am doubtful about that, and I am really doubtful about getting it done for mine. Does anyone happen to know if you took your Edge in for some unrelated issue if your dealer's service dept. would force this reprogramming on the vehicle even if you didn't want it to be done?

Are there any proven driveability or performance issues associated to getting this TSB done? I see where there were possible Cat. issues, but were they proven to be caused by the lack of this reprogramming, or were they as a direct result of the reprogramming? What about your MPG following the reprogramming, better, worse, about the same?

So you think it was pulled for everyone that got the letter?(I haven't checked yet) How do you know?

Interesting! I'll have to check mine. Congrats. on the clean smog check. To everyone else that got this letter and that has not had this reprogramming done: Does your vehicle still show that this reprogramming still needed?

That strikes me as a significant decrease.What were your avg. speeds? What about your MPG for urban or non interstate driving?

This begs the question of how many owners unaware of this issue have had to replace their CAT's on their dime? Additionally, just how far out of Fed. or State emissions spec. is it in this "as manufactured"state? If this is in fact a problem why haven't we seen owners complain about failed emissions testing in years past?

This recall certainly begs the question of how many have, or will have, to have their cats. replaced as a result of this issue?

I am a bit suspicious on how Ford got away with (I assume) being out of allowable tailpipe emissions for so long before doing anything about it. I would have thought this forum would have been full of people that live in states that require emissions check complaining as to their vehicle failing that test. That didn't happen, right? What changed?
