  1. I don't care about the "POI's" at all. I just program the unit for where I want to go, and it takes me there. In addition, I have two RoadMate 760's, and I find that the factory Navi unit has the RoadMates beat hands down. "Geraldine" tells me where to go in a loud voice. Easy to program. I can delete when finished, or just leave it in there. Although I have not yet taken any long trips with it, I do use it often just to learn how to use it. Still have a ways to go in mastering it, after four months, but I'm starting to get good at it. The only thing my RoadMate's do that this does not do is that the RoadMates give me the altitude and the stock Navi unit does not. Also the RoadMates give me the Latitude/ Logitude with only one touch of the button and with the stock Navi unit, I have to search for it. (have not mastered that yet <grin>).
  2. No. You have to lift your finger and push a button. (No, I'm not being "smart" but whats so hard about touching the screen?)
  3. Thanks AK. That could be why the option costs more on the Edge. :P Just joking. If the Edge has it, the MKX will have it.
  4. What is included in the Trailer Tow Package, in addition to the Hitch and perhaps the wiring plug? Don't go by what a dealer tells you. I want to know if you saw it in some Ford Publication what is included. Perhaps someone who works at the plant knows. (As you all know, dealers and salesmen will tell you anything to get you to buy <grin>).
  5. Although I don't have the Edge, I have an aftermarket Camel Dash-Mat in my Continental. Big mistake. I do get glare on the windshield compared to the dark brown dash in the car. I tend to roll up the dash-mat when driving and only put it in place when parking in the sun to save the dash from baking. Like I said, don't know how the Camel Dash works out on the Edge, but the darker the dash, the better.

    MPG??????

Talking with a L-M Salesman filling up an MKX ready for delivery. I mentioned the poor gas milage being reported on the net. He answered the way a salesman should answer. "Oh our customers have been reporting great mileage". I think he is full of balderdash. BTW, the Fusion/MKZ gets no better than the Edge/MKX. I believe it is because of the great "6-speed transmissions". They use way too much gas when in the lower four gears, and they are geared way too low. If they had the four-speed transmission that my Continental has, these cars would get better mpg. My Continental gets better than the Edge and about the same as the Fusion. Note, the Fusion and Edge use different transmissions, although both are "6-speed". Fusion/MKZ use the Aisin-Warner and the Edge/MKX use the Ford (and GM) 6F.
  7. Don't believe Ford (or the Navi manufacturer) would allow a movie DVD to work in the Navi slot. You can try, but don't believe it could/would happen. Everything else - Ditto to what UltraHertz said above.
  8. OK. Did not mean to be smart. I thought you were joking. I'm sorry. NYEdge, The 6 CD's for the CD player are completly seperate from the Navi DVD. The 6 CD's load from the top. The Navi DVD loads in a seperate slot that only is seen when you tell the unit to load the DVD. The screen then tilts to the horizontal position, and you load in the DVD slot. The unit has both the 6CD's plus the Navi DVD in it, all at the same time, but in different places. Yes, you can listen to the 6 CD's while you navigate with the Navi DVD. You never have to unload the Navi DVD (unless you want to upgrad in later years). When you start up the car (as long as the Navi DVD is loaded), the screen asks gives you all kinds of warnings and asks you if you accept. When you touch "Accept", the map comes up on the screen. You can go to other screens (radio, menu, settings, etc without hitting accept) and when you go back to the Navi screen, the maps are still there. You can only set everything in Navi while at a standstill - not while moving. Some Navi settings you can set, but not everything, while moving. If you don't want to use the Navi unit, just push Mode and go direct to the radio band (am, fm, cd, sr, etc) you want. Lastly, the Navi Disc is always on. Even if you turn the whole radio off, and your screen is blank, you can still hear the Navi DVD turning. Only if you remove the DVD will everything be off. If you remove the DVD for any reason, I think I read that you will lose the information you had programmed, but not sure as I have not, and will not remove the DVD. The Navi unit does not give you the vehicle speed (thats what the car speedometer is for) or the altitude (which I miss), however a couple days ago, I checked the car speedometer with a Roadmate 760 that I use in my Continental and the speedometer was right on the money. Don't know how it will be in the Edge/MKX but on my MKZ, it is spot on. Lastly, I've had my MKZ Navi unit for three and a half months now, and I'm still learning how to set it, how to program it and how to use it. You will not be sorry your ordered it. I'm very happy with mine.
  9. Lots of ads for the Fusion, Milan, MKZ, Edge and MKX here in the Orlando area of Central Florida. Also see many of the above. Blink and you see another Fusion. Problem up where you are is that people tend not to buy in the cold of an Ontario winter. Wait until April, and they will spring off the lots. You are correct though. If they (manufacturer) don't advertise, they (buyers) won't buy. Example: The Lincoln Zephyr. Although the Ford Fusion sold good in 2006, I almost never saw an ad for the 2006 Zephyr. By the time I got interested in the Zephyr, the dealer lots here in Central were full of leftovers. Dealers could not give them away. After I checked out a leftover 06 Lincoln LS (discounted bigtime) and decided I liked the Zephyr better, it was time for the MKZ to come out, with the larger engine, so I just waited a couple weeks, and picked up the MKZ (Ford-X Plan) and am very happy with the car. Dealers still have 06 Zephyrs on their lots, although I think the advertising for the 07 MKZ is causing people to buy the leftover 06 Zephyrs at a large discount. BTW, I've had my MKZ for four months now, and have Zero problems. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Niente. My two neighbors across the street both have 06 Fusions. Again, no problems. If the Mexican made Fusion/Milan/MKZ is trouble free, the Canadian made Edge/MKX should be even more trouble free. I hope the Edge/MKX is as trouble free as the Fusion/Milan/MKZ. I'm waiting for the MKS to be introduced. I may trade my Continental (Great Car). Love our Continental, so the MKS had better be great.
  10. Hey Scooter, Take the money you save from not paying the PST in Alberta, buy an Edge or MKX with the GPS Navi unit, and try it. Then let us all know what happens. :titanic: :violin: :rip:
  11. I NO LONGER ORDER CARS. Only buy from stock. I've been burned twice with special orders. 1. Ordered a car and it was not delivered with the equipment that all the manufacturer brocures said was on the car. The factory and dealer have an out because in the fine print, it says something like "we can change specifications at any time" or words to that effect. 2. Ordered a car and it had two "quality" problems. Dealer says that "oh we can fix that - just bring it into service department". Well, even after many visits, they could not fix one of the problems, and the other problem although they would fix, would "unfix" after a short time. I ended up doing a fix on it myself. Did I tell you I will never special order a car again? If I can't find the car I want at a dealer, I will go without until I do find one.
  12. Cost. Simple as that. I have the "Extra cost option HID (low beam) headlights in my MKZ. Would rather have had the standard QI Bulbs, but the car had them and the car was in stock. It is my understanding that it is a lot easier changing the QI lamps, but then again, it is also my understanding that the HID bulbs last longer. HID lamps may be nice, but I'm really not impressed with them. I see just as well at night with my Continentals QI lamps as with my MKZs HID's.
  13. Fordzm, What is "breadcrumbing"? I have it (the GPS Unit) but have never activated the breadcrumbing. sranger, I have aftermarket Roadmates (I have two) and I find that the only thing the factory Navi unit does not do that the Roadmates do is that the factory unit does not give me the "Altitude". (Don't give me the speed either, but thats why the car has a speedometer :D )
  14. 340km using 64Liters is 18.82L/100km or in American, 12.65 (aprox) mpg. 273km using 53.43Liters is 19.57L/100km or 12.4 (aprox) mpg. Either way, they both suck, but don't forget, its winter where you are, and those short trips, plus cold starts eat up the fuel.
  15. Looking forward to reading about the Edge/MKX. Someday I will have to replace my Continental and right now, am thinking about the MKX or wait for the MKS.
