  1. Good luck with your mods.

    http://www.bullyonline.org/related/cyber.htm

The Number One rule for dealing with this type of behaviour is: don't respond, don't interact and don't engage. This is not as easy to do as it sounds. It's a natural response to want to defend yourself, and to put the person right. However, never argue with a serial bully; it's not a mature adult discussion, but like dealing with a child or immature teenager; whilst the serial bully may be an adult on the outside, on the inside they are like a child who's never grown up - and probably never will. Serial bullies and harassers often have disordered thinking patterns and do not share the same thoughts or values as you.

  2. Good answer but we like to be able to get the most out of performance gear we put on our vehicles. The tires are high speed low profile sport tires. The car is called a Sport model for goodness sake. I've installed a forced cold air intake with an open air filter, a low restriction exhaust, and SCT flash tuner with a dyno proven tune, lowering springs for lower center of gravity and better handling, and better brakes to stop faster. I could see it governed at a 125-130 mph range but 110 is just silly and a waste of capability in a good car. What if I want to go to the local drag strip and run the Edge? With the performance enhancements I've made a 110 limit is just going to screw me over, no doubt. There has to be a way to reprogram the computer in order to bypass the limit. Someone else out there other than me must want to go past 110 in their $45,000 Edge Sport! This is just silly nanny stuff in my opinion.

"SCT flash tuner with a dyno proven tune"

Have you contacted who you bought your SCT tuner from?

If they can’t write you a custom tune that eliminates the speed limiter, someone else can.

Do you ever visit this FTE?

    http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php

There should be someone on there (several SCT sponsors) that can write you a tune.

I did a Google Advanced Search, all of these words for, sct "ford edge"

  3. Sorry for just now seeing this thread. You have to remove the intake manifold for the RH side plugs, yes.

    LH side

    1. Disconnect the crankcase vent tube quick connect coupling from the valve cover fitting and position aside.

    RH side

NOTE: The upper intake manifold must be removed to access the RH spark plugs only.

    2. Remove the upper intake manifold. For additional information, refer to Section 303-01.

    Both sides

    1. Disconnect the 6 ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.

NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.

    2. Remove the 6 bolts and the 6 ignition coil-on-plugs.

NOTICE: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.

NOTE: Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.

    3. Remove the 6 spark plugs.

In shade tree mechanic terms would RH stand for the front or back side of the motor?

And will there be any gaskets to replace?

I ask because at 53K miles this is working it’s way up my todo list.

    Thanks

  4. On other forums I belong to this question has been asked many times.

Dear Mr. Engineer, marketing exec, exec of XYZ co. what is your companies definition of “life time transmission fluid?”

Response from Mr. Engineer, marketing exec, exec of XYZ co. usually goes something like this.

Um uh lets see life of the trans.. uh no, life of the veh.. uh uhOH no.

OH HERE it is :baby: .

    LIFE TIME OF THE WARRANTY.

  5. Gonna have both. For some reason I also like how the roof rails look on an Edge.

    It’s an easy DIY.

Visit your parts dept at your dealer.

When you order ask to take a look at their screen.

Take a look at this thread it was in Sept. he may still have them.

You could start your own “Want to trade thread” they’re on here pretty often.

  6. Hello all. I am pretty new to the forums and my wifes 2007 MKX just hit 60,000 miles and I was curious what some of you other fellow MKX members recommend for items that are actually needed to be serviced? As we all know, if I go to the dealership I am likely to get hit with a large number of items that need to be serviced which may or may not be the case and will likely walk out of there with a $1,000 quote to get everything done.

Our 08 MKX will hit 60K this yr.

All the fluids and filters that are on the schedule.

    Do you have the schedule?

New brake fluid, rotors and pads. Maybe stainless brake lines.

This is a 60K inspection but we need new front rotors (I abused them in Colorado last year). SO new/better brakes :D !

We’re at a little over 50K, now so I’m going to do the transmission a little early.

I’ll have the bearings packed and the front end inspected.

We’re getting a small clunk at full left lock, so something is going on.

Might be caused by an unauthorized :censored: 4 wheel alignment when we had some relatively minor body work done.

Left rear wheel was scratched pretty good.

  7. Hey everyone, I want to have my rims powder coated to finish off my look, has anyone done this? Whats the cost, time it takes, etc..

My son had some steel rims for his Tahoe powder coated black for $40 each.

I’m sure chrome or polished aluminum would be more.

Took a few days to get them back, with an appointment.

A couple of things to consider.

You’ll have to pay to dismount, remount, balance and TPMS.

You’ll also need to MAKE SURE they use rim protectors when mounting the tires.

They offer MANY colors (his daughter wanted pink, they have it).

They should look GOOD and be easy to take care of.

Be sure to post pictures if you do it.

  8. That was a lame. I know you can do better.

I’m going to have to try harder. :worship: Dingo and you have 2 votes… I have none.

This co lists several 18X10 and 20X10 for 07 ford edge.

    Give em a call.

  9. :happy feet:

I don't know the answer to your question, but I imagine that a nun's habit would drag on the ground in the front if it weren't for her breasts holding it up.

    Love the attitude.

"Since I don't have to worry about the rear wheels turning."

Wouldn’t that make them get some serious flat spots?

  10. Thanks for info. Anybody want a set of 20" wheels cheap?

I sold our 08’s on craigslist.

Got almost as much as they cost.

Ford wants almost as much for 1 as they want for the whole set new.

Made almost enough to buy some nice LIGHT WEIGHT polished aluminum.

Did you go to a custom shop for your exhaust?

Or a off the shelf cat back?

  12. Does anyone ever have trouble with the volume knob on the Stereo?

Sometimes when you turn it down, the volume actually goes up... I know it just must be worn.

Anyone aware of any fixes, besides replacement???

It is the normal radio - no touch screen or Nav.

    What yr MKX?

I’ve noticed that sometime when I try to turn the volume ALL THE WAY UP so we can hear the phone (it’s a phone/sync issue) on our 08.

It takes a whole lot of turning.

  13. Greeting and welcome.

22K what a find, we have 54K almost trouble free miles on ours.

1 leaking shock, must be from the same batch that was on my friends “perfect” Honda!

1 gripe but not MKX specific, our BMX trade-in also had memory seats that were confused about which key was being used.

You might check the ground you used for the HID’s.

  14. We sold the hub caps off our 08 on craigslist and put after market wheels on.

Drove it for a couple thousand miles, one trip across Utah at a legal 80 mph.

Then one of the tpms came loose. Noticeable vibration.

We took it back to Discount Tire and they fixed it.

    The tpms was not damaged.

  15. Easy DIY

    Try ebay, call salvage yards.

Take your vin # if you go to a dealer. They need it to look up the correct mirror!

You’ll need 2 small flat bladed screwdrivers.

This was a HOT topic in 08, here’s a link.

Post # 65 has a good picture and instructions.

  16. I was talking to a Ford salesmen about bleeding brakes on my Edge cause they feel a little spongy and he said that you can only get that done properly at the ford dealers shop, cause you need to hook up the scanner on the Edge before you bleed the brakes. Something to do with abs and the sensors. He was saying that ECM or PCM has to keep pressure on the system while you bleed them. Dose this sound right to you guys. Thanks for reading.

It’s been a long time since I’ve bled any brakes that weren’t on a motorcycle.

    :headscratch:

    BUT

I didn’t know the Edge had a pump on the brake system.

Except for my wife’s right foot….

    Pump

    Pump

    Pump

    Hold

    .

    .

    “Ok let go”

    Do it again

  18. Okay, I bought one for an Acura RDX today. It's the best looking that I've found so far.

Ablb, the mini one fits? That opens up a new possibility.

    "Ablb, the mini one fits?"

    Not really.

The thread pitch is the same but the plastic cover doesn't go all the way to the base.

I was just making a test to see if our poor reception was caused by "our" antenna.

The reception was better with the Mini antenna on the MKX but still not nearly as good as on the Mini.

  19. I live in a fringe area outside NYC, once I go over the mountains I lose NY stations so we do need a good antenna. But with that said I have no idea how good the stock one is...only that it is pretty big. Was hoping someone had some insingth into how strong it was or at least a comparison to some aftermarket models. Some of the sites I saw only compare the antennas to each other. Kind of like a good better best thing which doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies. But thanks for th input, I guess we'll site tight for now.

We’ve been fighting this battle for 3 yrs.

The radio/antenna in our 08 (looks like ALL Edge/MKX’s) is pitiful!

We spend our summers in a small town in southern Colorado, not much radio in southern CO.

This year we bought a Mini Cooper, WHAT A difference!!!

Here are our observations for the last few yrs comparing the radios we’ve used, rated on a 1 to 10 scale.

    04 BMW X3…. (5)

    05 Ford F250… (5)

    08 Lincoln MKX… (2) :banghead:

05 Mini Cooper (new to us) … (9)

I took the antenna off of the mini and put it on the MKX… (4) of course it’s a foot and a half long but IT DOES work better.

Still looking for an aftermarket that is better than stock.

    The battle continues.
