  1. Amen. I think even a new sub would not come on because of the head unit. It is becoming quite a headache. I'm with you on taking the car in for service. NO ONE takes care of it like you do. ...and me owning a mobile detail business, the Edge gets cleaned twice a week...and they just get their greasy shoe prints on my door sills. The new bezel is $288...only one around is in Detroit For those of you out there that are honest and caring techs, thank you.
  2. Some of you may know about the subwoofer issues I'm having...and how Ford said that since the radio in it is not the one built with the Edge, then no warranty work for me. Well. The Dodge dealer I bought it from had the warranty "X" marked on the sticker. This implied warranty means that the Edge should have evrything working in it. EVERYTHING. So we call the Dodge place and they agree to take a look.... WELL... They told us that they're going to pay to have it taken to an outside audio place to fix it, as their expertise in Chrysler radios can't help them with the Edge issues... ok, whatever... The real issue came when I got back into my Edge, it appears that they took a flathead screwdriver and TRIED TO PRY THE METAL BEZEL from around the radio/ac controls!!! Here I sit looking at a bent up dash along with my hardwired nav wire crimped between the metal and plastic, nearly cutting it in 2 (when it DID come out from just above the radio, allowing my to push/pull on it as necessary). Needless to say that after all the and we have an entire dash bezel (w/ vents) coming our way courtesy of Jaxcjd.com. I asked them (in "other" words) if they did not know how to take the dash off, why they didn't use the phone to call Ford or just look online? I got blank stares.. ers
  3. I appreciate your help. I will try this tomorrow. I....need.....BASS!!!
  4. I have 3 connectors on the back, all of which are plugged in. There are no unused harnesses behind the radio. The sub fuse is good and the wiring to the amp/sub is connected. If all the harnesses are plugged in and I do the 3 & 6 button test, why doesn't the sub get checked? From what I understand in here is that I have a plain ole 6 disc/mp3 radio that is not an audiophile one.....which is what I need.
  5. If I buy one off of ebay, how will I know that it is programmed to have a sub? Is there a certain model #?
  6. Don't let the bad Cop ruin the good Cop's reputation. There's a bad apple in every bunch. Sucks that you got that one.
  7. one of the wires coming out of it was raw, meaning no coating, is this normal? Also, it is possible that although the radio is connected to that particular harness it doesn't send te signal out to the sub?
  8. Ok....after tinkering tonight and pulling out the radio, it DOES have all 3 connectors...but before reinstalling, I didn't see if all of the radio side connectors had all the pins that go into the 3 connectors. I did figure out that the smallest connector has all 8 pins on the radio, but only 4 are used in the harness, one of which controls the str whl controls. Ugh, I don't want to spend 120 bucks on ebay only to get the same exact radio and have no sub playing.. Oh yeah, i held down the 3 and 6 buttons, LF, RF, LR and RR were all that it scrolled through during testing....no sub check
  9. the one on ebay looks just like mine, but on the back it has the sub out connector. The one in my edge doesn't. Must've been from an SE or fusion or something.
  10. I take it that the Audiophile one looks the exact same as the regular 6 d/MP3 radio, just with a third connector on the back? If so, there's a couple on ebay for around 125 bucks, I'll get one.
  11. I know. The very night we brought it home, I realized that there was noooo bass. I took the rear quarter panel out, took the sub enclosure out and did some tests on the wires to the amp. It is getting power and the back of the radio has 2 harnesses, both are plugged in. By the way, that's the easiest dash removal ever. When my wife came into the garage and saw parts everywhere, she nearly fainted. . I appreciate your help. I'm just baffled that the Dealer can't "program" the radio.
  12. I bought an 07 SEL+ with all options minus the Nav and DVD headrests for 22,900. 13K miles. Blazing Copper...kbb on this was 25K and sticker in window was 30,900....the 22,9 was "the internet price". I didn't complain.
  13. The wire comes out just above the radio and it is hardwired to an unused 20A fuse in the kick panel. I took the rubber mat out of the upper tray and suction cupped the stand there. Much closer that a windshield mount. sorry 'bout the nightime photo
  14. I own a detailing business and I can tell you that nothing (I repeat, NOTHING) cleans glass better than plain deionized (spot-free) water and a small towel. From dog licks on the inside, to soft set bugs on the outside. Every chemical has a residue, just like towels washed or dried with fabric softener. I also waxed the heck out of my vista roof (and all other glass). It lasts waaay longer than rain-x and is easier to apply/remove. Also, don't EVER dry your car with a chamois, towel, or anything. Always use a spot free rinse and let the good ole sun dry it. That way, you'll get 90% less "spiderweb" scratches! No bull.
  15. Apparently, the folks who owned my Edge before me (I've had for 3 weeks) decided to yank out the nav and replace it with the 6 Disc Changer. The radio is (I'm guessing, after 2 trips to the local Ford Service Dept) not sending the signal to the amp, although the amp has power. We have had a new sub ordered/ installed and that didn't fix it. Then we had a new 6 disc changer installed and that didn't fix it. Ford ran the VIN and that's how we discovered that the raido is not the one that came with it, therefore, they will not touch it (under warranty, that is). They said that they would "do some research" and see if that radio will work the sub....Any suggestions on how I can just tap into a wire or two and BAM!...there's bass?
  16. 2007 SEL+ My gas sipper.. The money maker... The money maker before the van RIP..damn red light runners My neighbors loooove me...
  17. After purchasing my Edge SEL, I noticed that the stereo had nooooo bass, even maxed out. I took the plastic panel with the sub grille out and discovered an amp and factory sub. After doing some power tests, the amp is receiving power, but the sub is still not coming on. I have the Ford 6 disc in dash system, not the upgrade. Do they put he sub in all of the Edges, but only hook them up on the higher end sound systems?
