  1. Good job, my 12 yo son at the time, and I replaced the elements on the drivers seat on our freestyle. Both seat and back were gone, about 3 hours as it was a nice teaching time. What is with ford elements? I replaced with dorman which seemed to be fine until we traded for the edge.
  2. Update, driving like a miser I men being really light on the gas and coasting I do not shift to neutral, simply let the cars momentum carry me when I can. Talked to the dealership about this and it’s a pretty subletive subject, they’re indeifferentto look into it. Probably not a warranty claim code they will get.
  3. Tramlining, you mean tracking? My titanium tracks back and forth, you can not keep your hands or attention from the wheel for even 2 seconds. It’s the most names-on car I have driven in the last 20years. Really disappointing and enervating. Cheers, Bruce in Victoria.
  4. Happy new year gang. So, I fueled up yesterday after 2 weeks of city driving so I new it was not going to be great. I am driving it like a miser, coasting stops, using momentum, etc... also, doing this transporting thing I am driving half the time at 5am so pretty clear and green lights. display read 14.7 l/100. Actually it was a whopping 17.87 in reality; 13.1 mpg us. The only th8ng I have driven lately that drank more was a Nissan Armada. Re the steering tracking. Yep, I have to try at least another wheel alignment. Ford did two but screwed with camber etc, as well before they replaced all four tires. Pirelli scorpion 20s only 10k now. This is the most hands-on car I have ever driven, even MBs, Nissans, dodges, etc... with 20s drive truer than this edge. I really like the car when I get back into it for comfort, content and things are well laid out. It’s so disappointing though after driving other cars due to the tracking.
  5. Umm gang, I hate to tell y’all, but transporting cars as a part time gig, the Sony setup in our 15+ Edges is probably one of the worst sounding environments out there. It bugs me to no end to jump into my edge after driving another vehicle for a few hours and instantly being assaulted with such poor audio quality. A $50k premium trimmed vehicle should have better audio without swapping components.
  6. For newer edge owners, use CarPlay and your phone. Way better for accuracy. However, I do like the ‘flow’ of Sync without CarPlay running so if the destination is available OEM and do not anticipate heavy traffic negotiations I do not use Apple or Google maps. Cheers, Bruce.
  7. Hi all sorry, for some reason not getting the tracking notices on this post. Yes roots57 I do have the 3.5 v6. Cds71, hate to disappoint but I would BET that you’re using more gas than what the display is indicating. I would be really curious to have people manually track their real mileage and not use the display. Also, keep in mind that we Canadians are using imperial gallons, 4.54l not USgallons at 3.78l. My ford freestyle (my gateway ford lol) was dead accurate on mileage read outs. So was my A4 and A6 and as stated my wife’s Kia. It’s just heavy on gas. I transported a new Tiguan at 8.6l/100 and even a MB metris van at 9.2 last week. Gas mileage is not the deal breaker with his car for me, a disappointment only. The sound system i find so poor, that bugs me more. The biggest thing, and I think it is due to the 20” setup, is I find the car wanders a lot. You have to always be on the wheel. Anyone else notice this? All these other vehicles I drive are so better a staying put in the lanes. Even the sprinter on a windy day!!! Ahhh, hey, first-world problems! Cheers all, Bruce.
  8. Ok, being a commercial pilot with a life of logging things religiously, tracking fuel usage, maintenance logs, etc... I log each and every litre that goes into our vehicles. I only mention the pilot thing to evidence that I have some understanding of how to provide accurate findings. Also, Very easy to do with an app called road trip and I would recommend it to anyone who is into stats. It has now been a year and 2 days owing my 2016 titanium and I filled it up 31st. We have achieved 13.37 l/100kms, 17.59 mpg US combined over the year with lots of highway miles. Way different than the sticker, but who is surprised there. I do not drive this car aggressively, use coasting techniques etc.... But what bothers me more, is that the computer results are ALWAYS reading better mileage, usually right around 1.5l/100 Kms or about 2.5mpg better. This is reoccurring and repeatable. So in other words I would get a result on the car of let’s say 19mpg mainly city when in reality, if you replace the fuel you used, is more like 16.5mpg, or the true mileage. This is what I normally get in reality. This car is not good on gas. The freestyle I had returned accurate mileage display and the 3 last years of ownership I tracked it at 20mpg, exactly what the computer would read. I have brought this up with the dealer and they look at you like you have three eyes. You would never get any action by ford unless there were hundreds of us reporting accurate, accountable findings. Incidentally, my wife’s car, a 15 Kia Soul, has averaged 9.67 l/100. Exactly the 9.7 readout on the car’s display. But I assume no one really cares about the nuances of what the display is reading (although it has impacted other manufacturers for misstating fuel readings). The topic is this car is not good on gas, and the readout it is telling you, I think you will find, is not accuarate. Cheers, Bruce.
  9. I transport vehicles as a part time gig. The newer cars with Airplay, I simply plug my iPhone in using a lightning cable and have full access to audio and telephone functions without setting Bluetooth up. This is great as then I do not have to go through the various connect options on different cars and figure out the delete when I deliver them, much easier to have AirPlay cars. I would think the audio becomes hard connected rather than streaming, perhaps the phone too; airplay overtakes Bluetooth. The Sony stereo in these Edges is awful. I can not believe how poor they are compared to any other vehicle same years, 2016 in my case. It is truly disappointing and actually takes the car down as a complete package. It’s a comfortable, content-rich car, useful car, but the sound system is so muddy and yucky. My fault for assuming that thought would have been put into the audio system rather than slapping a brand name and some base-line speakers whereeevr they could fit. If anyone appreciates good audio, the Edge will disappoint you. Happy 2018 all, good health and relations is more important than our Edges!
  10. Yes, from inside the cubby, you do have to pop out the rubber mat. That just simply snaps in and out on the bottom.
  11. No need to have the dealer do it... they were going to charge me $100. Simply used a plastic pry tool, or a narrow (1/4") flat head and carefully pry from within the cubby. Use the top lip and bottom. It will take force but will pop. Took all of five minutes to replace mine. Give it a shot. Cheers, Bruce in Victoria
  12. Interesting, my second day with the Edge and am quite disappointed in the Sony stereo. I have the treble up all the way, mid I think -2, and bass 0 I think, surround is terrible, using stereo. Am amazed this was not tweeked in the design of the car in this era of technology. Muddy bass, over resonance and no crisp highs or clear mid highs. I will be glued to the forum for those that have figured out how to improve the sound in this car. Cheers, Bruce.
  13. Glad to join, had a 2006 Freestyle for almost 10 years, so good to us. Nearly bought a 2012 Mercedes ML350 diesel yesterday but ended up with a titanium 2016 with 18000 Kms with the 302a package, just under a year old. Still learning it and goofing around with it, My impression of the Sony sound system is quite muddy, not very good with the highs and almost a reverberation on a firm volume. Anybody else noticed this or was I spoiled by the MB for 3 day test drive? Cheers, Bruce.
