  1. I too know this is an old thread but getting tired of replacing bulbs and sockets. I have a 2008 Edge with only 68,000 miles. We have already replaced the bulbs 3 times and the sockets 2 times. We too have been told by Ford that they have never heard of it. Isn't that amazing when so many people have had the same problem with several years of Edges. It totally is a fire hazard. Unfortunately until people die I don't believe Ford will do a recall. They are one of the last to do recalls even though people have had trouble. We too have tried different number bulbs and they have burned up along with the socket - 3057 and 4157. If anyone has a solution I would love to hear it. Thanks
  2. Thank you Celbine for your service and stay safe. We will miss you on the forum but look forward to periodic posts on how your doing. Always in our prayers too.
  3. Thank you for your response. Surprisingly even though the ford dealership tells you they haven't had problems with them, it arrived today. We put the new amp in and it seems to be working fine. We will be testing it before putting everything back together. It appears that the solid connection from the amp had a problem as the slightest movement of it made the amp go out. Hopefully this post will help someone else too as everyone has helped me. Again thank you for your quick response.
  4. Sorry I reposted what I said by accident. Need some help from anybody regarding my amp. Have tackled the problem but need some help. When we went into a ford dealership they plugged in the VIN number and it came up with one number on the amp. My husband opened everything up and exposed the amp. We took the number into ford and they said that amp doesn't even show it should be in an Edge just other cars. They ordered the one that says it should have and am waiting for it. Now when you wiggle the harness from the sub that goes into the amp the base sometimes goes out. Wondering if the plug going into the amp could be bad. No help from ford unless you want to pay their high prices for diagnostic. The base comes on sometimes if I turn the radio on and off at the switch. I know their is a wealth of knowledge from people on here and would really appreciate some advice. Thanks in advance for you're help
  5. I know this is an old post and I have even posted on it before. Still having problems where the base goes out in my 2008 Edge Subwoofer. When I turn the stereo off and on again the base will usually come back on but then will go off again. I stopped at a stereo place and they told me by turning it off and on again, it is resetting the Amp. They too said it is probably the amp but they can't check it, it would have to be done by Ford. Stopped at Ford and they told me to check it, I would probably have to pay around $50.00 for an hour of service to see what it is. With our discount I can buy the amp for $76.00. Trying to figure out if I just take a chance and buy the amp and replace it without having it checked first. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Do you think it is very likely the amp and not the subwoofer. Only have about 28,000 on this Edge. Thanks to anyone that might have any suggestions. Really getting tired of losing the base, the stereo doesn't sound anything like it should when the base is out.
  6. I just found this post and will enter into it even if it's a little old. I have a 2008 Edge. One rear light socket bulb burned out and upon changing it we saw that the socket had gotten hot and was discolored. The plastic on the bulb had also melted. Thought it was a freak thing until the one on the other side did the same thing. At this point all we have done is change the bulbs but is there a fix for this. When you as Ford, they just deny knowing anything about it. If you search though, I found many complaints that were filed with Ford for the same thing. When do they decide something could be a safety factor, when a car catches on fire.
  7. Thank you, I do like it as it's different
  8. Ok, I'll see if I can at least post one more picture showing the stitching. Hope you can get the idea from this. I wasn't able to post the back seat but I think you can get the idea. This is the 2008 black edge I posted earlier.
  9. Cellbine - Love the pictures you posted. As promised here are some pictures I took of the red inserts in my interior. Some of the pictures off the iphone make the red look faded but it definitely isn't faded at all. Also took one to show the stitching. Having trouble loading all the pictures so I'll try in another post.
  10. Carbon edge+ I too am glad everyone is ok. That looks like a pretty bad collision. Looks like the Edge did its job in protecting you. I have read in some Edge complaints to Ford that their airbags didn't go off in a collision. Did your go off? Keep us posted on getting it repaired. Thanks
  11. Yes, Cellbine, I'll get some pictures of the inside this weekend to show you the red inserts on the seats. I am little surprised they only had them for a short time. I suppose when I sell it, either someone will really like it or really hate it. Anyway I'll get on those pictures. Thanks for the great comment too, my husband surprised me that day with waxing it, but I do take pride in keeping it up and have only hand washed it since day one and kept it waxed too.
  12. I have the clear black. The interior is black leather with the red inserts and red stitching, pretty cool looking. Had to order it special as they only offered it in 2008.
  13. I know mine is older than most of them posted as it is a 2008, but it still looks pretty good. Probably can't tell from the picture but it has silver leaf pinstriping on it. Also has the red insert in the black leather in the seats with red stitching. I believe this was the only year that had that interior. I special ordered it and still really like it. I also put after market 22 inch wheels on it.
  14. I am having the roaring that everyone is talking about with the wheel bearings in the rear. I have a 2008 Edge with only 28,000 miles on it, very low. My 5 year warranty was up last December. I have the TSB printed regarding this and will be taking it with me to the Ford Dealership on Friday to have them listen to it. Is there anyway possible with low miles and it just expiring last December that I can get them to pay for this repair. Any idea how spendy it could get. I looked on Complaints filed with Ford and there are several regarding this issue. Thanks for any helpful answers.
  15. Just started having this same problem today. I too have an 2008 Edge Limited. Approximately in 2009 the sunroof would not close as several people have posted on this forum. The dealership took it all apart and fixed the problem. No problem until now. As in yours, my roof opens and closes fine but the shade will not budge. I don't want to take it to the dealer as I am sure it will be big bucks. Any suggestions from anyone would be most helpful. I will check out the video too.
  16. want to do a new post

  17. Has anyone done this Sync upgrade. I just called the dealer and they quoted me $100.00 and said they hadn't done any in a long time. He then came back and told me to download it on a USB and do it myself. However the website says you can only have the dealer do it. Is it really worth it. I really don't care about the 911 upgrade. Does it do anything else that would make it worth it?. Thanks anybody for your advice.
  18. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. No one should have to bury a dog at the hands of someone who did such a selfless deed. I wish you luck in bringing some justice in Riley death. I too an a dog lover and reading this story makes me so sad. He was a beautiful boy and you can tell from the pictures he wouldn't hurt anyone. I hope you have some luck with your attorney in making this guy pay for what he did even though it won't bring Riley back but at least you might prevent him from doing this to someone else's beloved dog.
  19. Hi Travelking - Just wondering if you had done anything yet with the stereo in your Edge yet? Still haven't tackling mine yet and kind of wanted to wait to see what results you have had. Thanks, Cindy
  20. Hi Travelking - Thanks for the response to my question. I still haven't done anything with mine but it still cuts out off and on. I had printed a fix that someone had posted on this before but looks pretty intense so haven't tried anything. Do you think you will be trying this yourself soon? If so, can you give me feedback on whether it works or not. This fix sounds much more less involved. When I asked a Ford dealership about this, of course their response was that they had never heard of this before and suggested they look into it which would be probably endless amounts of service work. Not prepared to do that yet. Thanks, Cindy
  21. I just put new post about my 2008 Ford Edge developing the same problem with the base on the stereo, then I found these old posts about the 2007. Has anyone heard of a recall on this? Sounds like a defective part to me although Ford is really tough to ever come up with recalls.
  22. Thank you Mike for the response. Do you have any idea how much this would cost? I am not sure if I just want to wait until it goes out completely. Thanks
  23. I have a 2008 Ford Edge with very low miles, 22,000 and I have been the original owner. The last few months I have been having problems with the base going out in the stereo. You will be listening to it and all of a sudden it looses the base and sounds terrible and you don't hear anything coming from the subwoofer. Sometimes turning it off and on will bring it back. We haven't taken the back panel off as it looks very complicated but wondered if maybe there could be a loose wire. I don't want to ask a Ford Dealership as I am sure they would rack up big service charges. Has anyone else had this problem or any suggestions. This forum as been amazing for advice so I am looking for it again. Thanks to anyone for any suggestions.
  24. I have some information that might be of interest to anyone that has the cabin air filter. I have a 2008 ford edge with only 21,000 miles on it but decided it was time to change the cabin air filter. Purchased it at the Ford dealership and the service manager said he would replace it. When he took the glove box off, the cover and the filter, the filter was very dirty along with shredded pink insulation. His first comment to me was that a critter must have gotten in there. That was my thought at first since we live in the country although it is always garaged. Yesterday I started having a rather loud fan noise when the fan was on. I googled this and came up with the Edge Forum with comments about how to change the filter. We pulled it out last night again to vacuum since it was not done at the dealership. There were small bits of the pink insulation in the fan. We used a small type of dental mirror to look in there to make sure there were no more pieces left, it was clean. But in doing so we saw where the insulation came from. Ford lines the sides of the plastic glove box with this pink insulation. Evidentially the fan sucked the insulation onto the filter blocking air flow. We tried the fan before replacing the box and the noise was gone. Put it all back together with a clean filter and the air flow from the vents is unbelievable. I don't think I have had this much air flow for a few years. In answer to everyone's complaints about this issue, I highly suggest they check this filter or the screen that is on some of the vehicles without the filter. You will be amazed. We plan on taking some of the insulation back to the ford dealership to show them that that is what the pink insulation was rather than something from a critter. Good luck to everyone, hope you have the same positive results that I have. P.S. I just love the forum, it always helps with little problems.
