  1. I usually reset my MPG right after I fill up. I actually TRY not to watch it. I usually will calculate it myself every based on miles per tank and how much gas I purchase to see if the MPG computer is accurate. Bill
  2. Well, that's good information to know... That does suck either way... Another factor in poor gas mileage this time of year is letting your car warm up. I have an automatic starter and even if I only let it run for 5 minutes before I leave in the morning my mileage drops 1-2 MPG and sometimes more.
  3. I think if you searched a little bit you would see many people complaining about their mileage getting worst. It seems more common than it should. In fact I have two coworkers who own Edge's and like me, they love it but are bitching about the gas mileage getting worst. I'm going to take mine in to see if there is anything they can do such as resetting the computer.
  4. Actually, I've lighted up on the gas MONTHS ago and my mileage is getting worst. That's good that your getting 21mpg but MOST of us are not and have NEVER got that kind of gas mileage.
  5. That's what I'm getting at. I got better gas mileage before it broke in and city mileage is becoming a joke. I don't call this a crossover any longer I call this an Explorer w/ slightly better gas mileage. It is more fun though.
  6. I agree... However you can't deny that the Ford Edge isn't getting the kind of gas mileage they are telling us we can.
  7. To be honest w/ you I think the MPG is getting worst. I'm thinking of calling Ford and discussing the shitty mileage. Seriously, when I drove about 240 Miles one way I did get near 26-27 MPG w/ 3000-4000 miles on the vehicle. When I drove a similar trip I never got to 23 MPG and I had over 7000+ Miles on the car. I just don't get it. We have a Dodge Grand Caravan w/ about 2000 Miles on it and we are getting 18-20 City and the car isn't even broken in. I know we aren't comparing apples to apples but shit, at least the carvan holds 7 people and hauls an arcade game in the back. Bill
  8. I have a couple of small issues w/ the 2nd row of the edge... There is almost TOO MUCH ROOM... Why? Because the tailgate is very thick and compromises the storage space. I think they could of easily moved the 2nd row forward about 6 inches and still gave people more leg room than the Explorer. I usually lease my vehicles and the Taurus X (Freestyle) didn't lease good ($50-$75+ more a month). Actually, my wife needed a new vehicle to replace her Jetta due to us having a second child in December. I looked at the Taurus X again, and $425+ a month with X-Plan pricing. YIKES. Now, the Pacifica wasn't really much better and we didn't like it as much as the Taurus X. In the end, we ended up leasing a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan for around $280 / month w/ nothing down when we picked it up. We really didn't want a minivan but after we drove it she liked it. The when she saw the lease payment she loved it. We both agree that the Caravan isn't as nice as the edge but it's a very nice vehicle that works for us. If I had known we would end up w/ a Minivan 8 months after I leased the Edge I probably would of leased a Fusion or a G6. However, I still don't regret getting my edge. I sure hope the Ford Flex is a good replacement for the Ford Freestar. Bill
  9. I was reading up on the Dodge Journey and wished Ford offered the edge w/ a third row. See, I lease my vehicles and my rep kept telling me to look at the Freestyle (Taurus X) if I wanted more seating. What she didn't get is that the Freestyle has bad residual (so does the Pacifica) and it least well over $75+ more a month when I picked up my Ford Edge in January. Not to mention, the Edge overall looks are much better than the Freestyle in my opinion. What is interesting is that Mazda CX-7 has a 3rd row option but the Edge doesn't. Now I see that Dodge is introducing the new Journey and will have a 3rd row... Go figure... Not as nice looking as the Edge (to me at least) but not a bad looking vehicle either. Ok Ford, can we please get a 3rd row now? http://car-reviews.automobile.com/news/dod...crossover/3141/ Actually, my wife's Jetta has to be turned in this September and seeing we will be having our second child in December we went to look at the Taurus X. However, the Taurus X lease was still way out of line we ended up picking up a Dodge Grand Caravan w/ Stow and Go seating at over $150 less a month... THAT IS NOT A TYPO... We didn't get loyalty cash so we aren't talking about a $199 / month lease but it's still under $290... We didn't want a Minivan but so far we love it. When my Edge is ready to be turned in we will most likely not be replacing it w/ another Edge because we now have the Minivan. But there is a chance we "MAY" end up getting a Crossover w/ a 3rd row instead. They both need to be turned in around the same time so we can come up w/ a good plan to have a larger vehicle as the family vehicle w/ decent millage and a sedan for me to get to and from work (Possibly a Fusion)... But, that is over 2 years away. I love my Edge but sure wished I had the 3rd row so we wouldn't of had to buy a larger vehicle. Bill
  10. Ok, I just put 220 miles on my vehicle in about 3-1/2 hours and got about 25.5 MPG @ around 55 MPH... I filled it up before I headed home from vacation and this was 95% highway... On Friday, I had 3/4 of a tank, I reset the MPG when I left the driveway and got 26 MPG @ around 50-55 MPH. Very happy... However, I'll be back to city driving tomorrow so we'll be back to 18 MPG... No big deal but at least I'm getting what they told me I should be getting. Bill
  11. My Edge drifts to the right... They fixed it for about 24 hour... Then I took it back w/ a TSB and within a day it came back... I'm calling again Thursday to bitch a little bit. Bill
  12. I have about 4200 miles on my Edge SEL FWD... This week I'm averaging about 18.7 MPG which isn't horrible. Mostly city but did a decent amount of freeway this past weekend. Bill
  13. A coworker here bought a SEL Plus. She fell in love w/ the MKX but it was out of her price range. She had been w/ GM for 15+ years and decided to move over to Ford. SHE HATES THE SEATS AND HEAD REST. She said this will be the last car she buys without trying one for a day or two. She has a touchy back and neck and has horrible pain. She sits w/ her seat as a 90 degree position because that's how she likes to sit. Ford flipped the headrest around which kind of helped. She ordered a seat pad w/ a 30 Day MBG and hopes this helps. Try flipping around the head rest. I love my seats... Best seats I've ever owned from Ford... However, I sit with the seat tilted back slightly.... Bill
  14. You order drinks from your edge? HOW COULD YOU? I find it funny is that I avoid buying drinks in my car at all cost. I always have. People who con me into picking up lunch from them while I'm out have always got pissed at me when I refuse to get them a value meal w/a drink. I did that once in my 1999 Mustang (or was it my 2002 Mustang GT) and lost the "LARGE" drink all over my carpet of my brand new car. NEVER AGAIN. Back you your problem. I agree. The door cup holder are great. Especially to keep an extra bottle of water. Obviously, you mentioned it holds LARGE DRINKS. Wonder why they didn't put a removable rubber piece on the bottom. Bill
  15. I just think Ford needs to make the dash ALL Dark Brown or Dark Stone depending on your interior colors. Making the dash a little more "SATIN" would help as well. I personally think it's a "slight" safety issue and if they have corrected the glare on the newer builds then they have "admitted" it was a problem. So, if they have "admitted" it is a problem then they should offer up the fix on the early builds. It's just a slight annoyance to me and something I will just ignore. However, I sure hope Ford acknowledges this and fixes it on the future builds. Bill
  16. Is your interior "TAN"? My lower 1/2 of the dash is dark brown then the actual dash is light tan. The vents near the doors are chrome and the vents in the center are satin silver. The trim around my stereo is shinny silver but the upper trim around the black rubber tray on the dash is satin silver. Maybe I do have the "Updated Dash". I'll actually go to Ford tomorrow or Wednesday to look in a newer build. Because if something is different I will call Ford Customer service to see if they can do anything to update my dash to prevent the reflection. I wouldn't say it's horrible. But there has been times in the last week or two where I'm like "WHAT THE HELL... I CAN'T SEE". For a couple of you... What's your deal? Maybe you work for Ford? I have family that works for Ford and am pretty good friends with the people who own my dealership and I want Ford to succeed. I've been buying Fords since 1995 and I never have problem calling them on their mistakes even if it pisses off a family member. I remember my 2007 Ford Explorer Sport has a terrible vibration when accelerating which started at the first 1000 miles. They ended up replacing 3 out of 6 of the spark plugs which corrected the problem. About 500 miles later it started up again... they replaced the other "4" spark plugs... I called them and asked them when did ford start manufacturing 7 cylinders and wanted to know WHY the spark plugs needed replacing and unless I had an Answer I would be driving their loaner car. About 30 minutes later a Ford Rep called me and gave me a very good answer down to the number of engines that that had this same problem. I've stuck my neck out more this year than ever before promoting how much I love my edge. I even got a long term GM owner (for 20+ years) to look at the Edge (she wanted the MKX but it was out of her budget) and she bought a SEL PLUS. Unfortunately, she isn't that happy with her edge. She loves how it drives and rides but she has a very touchy back and hates the seats. Too bad because I think these are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in (in the cars that I have owned). Just don't get too defensive. Ford has an issue that they might have corrected. However, they didn't correct it to everyones satiation yet. Bill
  17. Funny that Ford said they wouldn't do anything about it. I know that I bought the car. However, it was raining all three times I drove the damn thing. Sh*t, it was even raining when I picked it up. I took it back to get my automatic starter installed and my sales lady got them to wash my car again because it was raining the day I picked it up... Guess what? It rained again. I've been told by three people that the reflection SUCKS and that if Ford doesn't have a solution or plan on fixing it in the near future (future models) and gives me the "oh well" attitude they told me to STOP PAYING and let them reprocess it. I personally love the car and wouldn't want my perfect credit to go to hell based on that factor. However, I cannot believe that the people that put thousands of miles on the preproduction models did not have any problems. I call "BULLSH*T". Bill
  18. I may say, I drive an SEL w/ tan interior since January and now that the new car excitement is gone I must say that the glare does suck. I do not know why they didn't make the dash dark tan seeing they have two tone in the car. It's almost dangerous. I'm to the point that I'm going to take it to the dealership and tell them that it sucks and to contact Ford to find out if there is ANYTHING they can do about it. I mean, I need to keep this car for another 2-1/2 years and it will not be fun to be blinded on sunny days. Cannot believe the test drivers didn't see this before it went to production. Bill
  19. I'll agree w/ you. I've had mine since January and this has to be the best vehicle I have ever driven. Well, the 2002 Mustang GT was more fun but beat the hell out of me. I do tons of city and I'm only seeing 16-18 MPG. I'm hoping that when I get another 1000 Miles on it it will start doing getting better MPG. The GMC/Pontiac dealer was offering me a loaded Envoy for about $70-$80 less a month. I love my edge but if I thought about it a little more I should of taken the Envoy based on only driving about 8,000-9,000 Mile Per Year. I would probably be ahead a 1/2 to 1 tank of gas per month. My wife has a 2003 Jetta w/ a 1.8T which needs to be turned in at the end of summer. I wanted to keep it based on her being way under her millage. However, the sunroof was leaking and they had to clean it very good and replace the carpet (still stinks for a few seconds when you first get in) and was rear ended so I'm going give it back to them and find her something that has more room w/ decent gas millage (I'm hoping I can get her into a Freestyle or a Chrysler Minivan w/ stow and go seating but she hates minivans right now.). I will be looking at HARD FACTS for gas millage and possibly drive that car during the week. Wish me luck. We have another baby on the way so we need more room. The Edge may end up being the "MAIN" family vehicle and we might get something roomier than the Jetta but sportier w/ better gas millage than the Edge. Any suggestions? Last year they were offering me a G6 w/ a V6 (not the GT) for about $250 a month... Maybe they will be offering something similar. Bill
  20. ... "NO PROBLEM FOUND" is my prediction.
  21. It seems better but give me a few days. I mentioned that the transmission sometimes shifts all over the place. For example, I was getting on the freeway on Tuesday and stepped on it and it UP SHIFTED!!! So, I mentioned that... No problem found. NO PROBLEM FOUND... GETTING ON THE FREE WAY AT 35 MPH AND WANTING IT TO DOWN SHIFT AND IT UP SHIFTED IS A F-ING PROBLEM... It really doesn't happen all to often... I think what I was kind of pissed off about is that I was getting about 19.3 MPG this week and when I got it back it was at about 17 MPG so obviously whomever took it for a test drive drove the shit out of it. Obviously I'll have to take them out for a test drive next time. Bill
  22. I took mine back today for a 07-3-2 PULL/DRIFT. I had it there in January and they tried some things. However, told me that a TSB was coming for a good fix. I finally had time and was willing to give up my edge for the day. Let's hope it's fixed. Bill
  23. Well, better late than never... here are photos of my SEL Edge... Not that great of images however they will have to do. Damn Michigan weather prevented my Edge from staying clean more than about 2-3 hours after I washed it... Today, I was able to run it through the car wash for a FULL SERVICE... I armoraled the wheels when I got home.
  24. Overall I haven't been super impressed with the MPG. I have about 1350 miles on the vehicle and haven't been over 20 MPG yet. However, last night before I left for a 20 minute drive I reset the MPG gauge which was pretty much freeway and got about 24-26 (can't remember but it was better). On my way home I took surface driving and got close to 19-21 for the round trip. So, obviously it's BETTER than my Explorer and the electric starter running more than 5 minutes is eating up gas as well. I'm hoping the weather warms up so I can avoid the electric starter so I can see how much better the MPG is effected. Bill
  25. I'll agree w/ you on the Gas Millage. I know I drive TONS of city however I've haven't been over 15-16 one time. Now, I do have an automatic starter and only have about 1300 miles on it but I've been a little disappointed w/ this. Last week I tried to only use the automatic starter for 5 minutes to keep it from idling so long in my driveway and it did seem to help a little bit. I reset the MPG every time I fill up now to get a accurate reading. I just don't know. If I could of saved $50-$75 a month and got another SUV I'm starting to think the $$$$$$ would of been a used towards gas and I probably would still be ahead. I love my edge and that car has to be the quietest and best Ford I've ever been in (well, not as fun as my 2002 Mustang GT) I just hope ford works on the gas millage issue because I've been avoiding that question every time I'm asked. Bill
