  1. I hate to say it but I've been driving about 70% city and 30% highway and still at about 14 MPG. I will calculate it myself when this tank is done. I'm sure it has something to do w/ me only having about 500-600 Miles on my car. Bill
  2. Seriously, kayaks will not fit on either side of the rack? The antenna is centered and Kayaks have a <> shape so I don't know why you couldn't just off center the Kayak if you are only transporting one. If you are transporting two then I would just put the Kayaks in on either side of the Antenna. Besides, according to that Lincoln commercial you can fit an adult, teenager and two smaller kids and 4 surf boards in the MKX... So, you shouldn't have any problems stuffing the Kayaks in the vehicle... (NOT) Haa haa... Bill
  3. I called my insurance rep who had to call Citizen's direct for them to quote it. It's about $10-$12 more a month than my Explorer but that's not that big of a deal. When my year is up I will have it re-quoted through other insurance companies. Yes, pickup the phone and have them manually quote it. Bill
  4. I would walk. Especially if they are charging you for something that isn't there. BULL****. Just go to another dealer or tell your dealer to order you another vehicle because you aren't paying for anything that isn't there. Bill
  5. What sucks is that I ordered an SE and an SEL (Dealer ordered it w/ my name on it just in case I liked it better) back in August (About 2 after they started taking orders). The SEL was built a week before my SE and FINALLY the SEL came in. The SE is nowhere to be found. Doesn't even say GATE yet. I ended up liking my 18" Painted Rims more than the 17" rims (even though both are nice IMHO) and the upgraded interior so I took the SEL. Love the car. But what I'm a little annoyed is that I know people ordering them now MIGHT actually get their cars before my SE comes in. Too bad Ford couldn't streamline their system and order me another car based on an order being one of the early builds and send ONLY the second order to the dealer. I actually know someone that had something similar happen. They ordered an Expedition when they first were introduced (day one when they started taking orders). Their neighbor ordered theirs AFTER they started shipping. Guess who's came in first? The neighbors. So they went straight to the GM dealer and bought a competing product (I think it was a Escalate or something like that) and drove to the Ford dealer and canceled their order. They weren't mad at the dealership but more at Ford. I love my Edge and glad I waited for it. However if I was still waiting for my SE my frustration would of hit the roof by the end of the month. Bill
  6. What? If my edge showed up after a 3-5 month wait to get with all those problems I would of told them to start looking for another one or order me another one. If they refused I would of gone to another dealership. As far as the mold issue? Back in the end of Summer my wifes 2003 Jetta's sunroof drains came disconnected (that's what they told us happened) and it POURED for two days straight and then sat there for a day or two. Unfortunately the rain came in and got the carpet wet and sat out in the heat for a day or two before we knew. We took it to the dealership which is about 20+ Minutes from my house and they fixed the drain and "CLEANED" the carpet. Still smelled. Two weeks later we took it back and they did chemical cleaning. Smelled better but still smelled. Within a couple of weeks it smelled bad again. Not as bad as it originally was but it made me wease and sneeze and when I got out of the car I smelled mildew on my clothing (great when you go into work). I called them and told them it it is still there (the smell) and that it's now a health issue. Well they ordered me new carpet and I finally was able to take it to get it put in last week (yes, 3-4 months since the problem started but due to protocol they couldn't change the carpet until the tried what VW wants them to try first). They called me after they had it for a day and had to order padding as well (used to be part of the carpet kit and they didn't know it was included). He said the padding still had moisture in it and no mater what it probably might never dry. They pulled everything out of the car cleaned it, cleaned the heating systems, clean the the seats (just smelled), cleaned head liner (didn't have mold or mildew just the odor got stuck in the head liner). ANYTHING fabric they cleaned. They had it for almost a week to make sure it was cleaned and very very very dry before they even installed the carpet. Why didn't I freak out? Because it's a lease and we've had the car for over three years. We (my wife and I) realize that the car was in an accident so possibly the impact caused the drain to disconnect. VW knew about the accident and our dealership did the repair. They think it just came loose. The smell is 99% better. However, my wife made the comment that she thinks that she still smells the mildew smell a little bit. I think it's just from the car seat and told her to pull it into the garage with the windows down for the next couple of weeks. Either way, she's fine with the repair and will just make sure that the floor isn't wet today (seeing it's raining today and last night). My point of the story? You have a car that had wet carpet the DAY THAT YOU WENT TO LOOK AT IT. So, if your buying this car that smell, unless the caught it right away, will be with you until you sell the car. Call them and DEMAND they remove the seats, rip out the carpet and padding and do a chemical cleaning of the heating system and the interior of the car and the seats and install the new carpet and padding. May I ask? How many miles were on your car? I had about 25 w/ a sticker on it that "FORD MOTOR RANDOMLY SELECTED YOUR VEHICLE AND TESTED IT W/ 25 MILES ON IT" (something like that). If you have over 50+ miles on it I would be willing to bet that your dealership had that car the day that you found out that it shipped and demoed it. Someone left the window open after driving it around for a week. I'm just assuming something but they seem to know that there were problems w/ it the day that they told you it showed up. Good luck. Get it fixed. After it's fixed enjoy it. I love mine so far. Bill
  7. Yes, I want a Bum Warmer that doesn't require $2000 in options... My wife has a 2003 1.8T Jetta w/ Cloth Seats w/ heated seats. Before that she had a 2000 VW Bug w/ Leatherette Seats w/ heated seats... I was looking at Eddie Bauer Explorers before I ordered my Edge and said "Cool, I can't wait to have Heated Seats" followed by an answer "Oh, you need to get the PREMIUM Eddie Bauer or Limited to get heated seats". Why do I have to spend $35,000+ w/ ford to get heated seats. Oh, and why do they think that $800+ for a DVD player is a "BARGAIN" when you can get one that straps to the back of the headrest for $100-$200 and move it to various cars. I know it isn't integrated into the car but it should be a $400-$500 option. Also, I think Sirus or XM should be STANDARD on ALL New vehicles? Why? Because you need to pay a monthly subscription fee so Sirus and XM should pay for the hardware for the fact that they will make more off of me we a subscription. I got an SEL w/ a nice 6 disc CD changer and FINALLY HAVE A AUX INPUT for my iPod (What a concept). Either way, I love my car. Anyone know what heated seats cost as an after market option? Bill
  8. Are they suppose to have vented rotors? Just wondering because I never paid attention. I had to take mine into the dealer today... LUCKILY it was just to install my automatic starter. They looked kind of sick when I pulled it into service "ummmmm, what is wrong"... I answered, "Luckily nothing... Just dropping it off for a electric starter and they told me to tell you to bring it to prep..."... They didn't want to install it the day I picked it up because the installer was still waiting for electrical schematics and preferred to wait. Yesterday got a call stating that they installed one on their first edge and everything went smoothly so bring it on in. They gave me a freestyle as a loaner. It is pretty nice however after my edge ALL fords seem very low quality with the exception of the Fusion. So Ford had best use the Edge as an example on how to make a car. Better yet, just get rid of the Freestyle and Lengthen the edge and put a third row in it. Just a thought. I know they figure that if you need more seats to buy a Freestyle however I will not be buying a Freestyle when I need more seats unless it has the quality and is as quiet as my edge. Too bad your dealerships aren't like mine. I see at least 8-12 or possibly more in their lot. I could of had another color a couple of weeks before mine came in but I wanted the Carbon Metallic. If the Edge isn't a success I don't know what Ford needs to do. It's just perfect. Just give me a $200 option for heated seats (cold weather package) like VW does and it would be more perfect. (Note to ford... I shouldn't need to get a fully loaded Edge to get heated seats... GM is even starting to get it... Poor people want warm rear ends as well). Bill
  9. So far I'm not getting great gas millage. However, I've only gone through a 1/2 of a tank since I got the car. You need to break it in and by then hopefully we are getting the 19-25 MPG. Bill
  10. That's probably the most it should be. I know of one person that ordered a stripped SEL w/ a Vista Roof should be less than $30,000... I almost did that but I usually have my sunroof shade closed due to the heat so I opted for 18" Rims, Tow Package and reverse sensing system. IMHO is that any dealer trying to charge $7,000 over sticker deserves to be shut down. Especially on a production car. Cobra R and Ford GT is one thing to get what you can get. But these cars are going to be very popular and there is NO NEED TO PAY OVER STICKER. So, if the dealer is charging more than sticker just walk to the next dealer. Greed is screwing Ford. My dealer gave me X-Plan pricing and a couple of people I talked too said that some dealers weren't honoring it for the first orders. If my dealer told me no X-Plan pricing I would of went to a competitor and personally showed off my new car to Bill Ford and his gang along w/ an invoice and a letter of the dealer that screwed over a loyal Ford consumer of 10+ years (I'm only 31). Bill
  11. Just FYI, I took a quick look at them and it has Continental Tires. I'll get the actual tire specs later. On another note I pulled it into my garage which is a little full but my explorer fit in there before I crammed more stuff in there for the winter and the Edge seems very very wide. It will take some time to get used to the size it is or at least how large it feels. The specs tell you that it's smaller than the explorer but in real life it feels big. Drives much better than my 2004 Explorer that I just turned in. Much quieter than any of my Explorers and MUCH MUCH quieter than my 1999 Mustang Coupe and my 2002 Mustang GT. Rides nice. It seems responsive when you brake but I haven't did a panic stop yet.
  12. I put about 3-5 miles on it since I picked it up. I bought a FWD and it seemed to do fine in the Rain. I'll get you the brand and specs on the tires when it's not raining. I need to go out and pull my car in the garage so I can install the baby seat in it. Waiting a while huh? Felt like "FOREVER". I was worth it but the wind was let out of my sails about 1-1/2 months ago. I probably will not pre-order a new car again. Bill
  13. I don't know for a fact but I'm pretty sure that the tire diameter on both the 17" rim and the 18" rim are identical so the mileage should be the same or pretty close. I got the painted 18" rims because i didn't 100% care for the chrome. I actually think there is less aluminum on the 18" Painted over the 17" painted or about the same. Why do I think that? Because the 17" rim seems to have much more aluminum on the face of the wheel. Does anyone actually have the weight of the rims? Bill
  14. EDGE SEL in Blazing Copper is how in my possession. YAY. Beautiful car. Unfortunately I had to pick it up in the rain. Go figure. I'll post photos when it stops raining and I get it washed again.
  15. My dealership has about 8 of them out in the lot. I don't know if they are customer orders or just retail orders. Have you called around or try and build one on fordvehicles.com and "SEARCH INVENTORY". That will tell you if there are any in the area. Bill
  16. If you ordered your car several months ago and they have had it built and are just playing the waiting game they really need to give it too you. If they don't they are not doing something right. Bill
  17. If you are going through Ford Credit and you were an early order (don't know what the cut off day was) they should of locked you into the January 2nd deal even if your car comes in next week. Call them!!!
  18. I thought it was 51% residual and 1% interest for a lease in the US... But, I can't remember... IF you ordered your car I would call the dealership and tell them that your kind of pissed that they didn't have you fill out a credit application before the 2nd and you want them to see what they can do. Maybe they can backdate it if you get there today. Good luck. $3000 more? what are you talking about? They were never running any deals as far as rebates.
  19. If you know your vin number post it because a couple of the people on the board can check it from within ford which is different than what the dealers have access to. My SEL said "AT GATE" and my SE said "IN STORAGE" within the ford internal system. However at the dealership BOTH OF THEM STILL SAY "IN STORAGE" even though the SEL arrived yesterday. But, keep your thoughts positive because my understanding is that neither of the systems are REAL TIME so the info might be wrong and your car might be a truck to your dealership. I drove it last night and pick it up today. Either way I think you'll be happy with your new Edge. I am. However, I was and still am a little frustrated with how the communication went between Ford and the Consumers on where and when our cars will arrive. So, my excitement to have my edge back in August when I ordered it and November when I was suppose to get it isn't there anymore. You could practically give me a Minivan at this point and I would be equally excited. I'm hopping that changes as of tonight. Still a very beautiful vehicle. Drove great and very quiet. I sure hope those brakes work good. Bill
  20. Thanks. Yes, LOW RATES and HIGH RESIDUALS and NO REBATES are just as good or possibly better than higher rates and low residuals and $5000 in rebates. Why? Because this is the first Ford that I've picked up that only involves First Month Payment and Plate Transfer and NO ADDED TAXES ON $5000+. Not a big deal but also nice. Bill
  21. How about installing a gate at the back of the storage lot so the first to order aren't the last to receive their new cars. Just a suggestion. Another suggestion is that maybe you should build Dealer Stock Orders first on BRAND NEW vehicles and models. Why? Because you can work out the assembly line bugs on their cars and move them to the back of the lot. Then as everything goes smoother start running the customer orders so they get out of the lot first. But, what do I know. I'm just a consumer. However, I am a consumer that ordered my vehicle back in August and it finally arrived today. I won't mention the fact that the dealer has about 8-10 stock cars. I could of taken a stock vehicle but they only had one Blazing Copper and it was FULLY loaded w/ leather and a Vista Roof which was more than I could spend. Still a very very beautiful vehicle. Drove my car today and picking it up tomorrow. Can't wait. Looks to be one of the best vehicles to ever come out of ford. Thanks.
  22. What deals? Rates went down and residuals went up. They put in my credit app last week to LOCK me into the best deal based on me being a preorder. So I qualify for the BEST of the BEST. So, Highest Residual and Lowest Rate. Bill
