  1. I feel bad for you guys. I bought mine in July, 5000 miles later and other than a scuff in the quarter it has been flawless. I've really enjoyed owning this vehicle.
  2. I exclusively run Amsoil in my Arctic Cat ZR-900. Approx 160 HP and 115 lbs of torque. I use their Interceptor 2 stroke oil, Series 2000 chaincase oil and their water resistant grease and I'll tell you the stuff is amazing. There are not many applications tougher than a sled for giving oils and greases a workout. My 9 is at 3800 miles and has seen quite a few passes on the track with no failures yet. It is normal for a top end at 3-4000 miles but my compression has not changed since new. It may cost a tad more but in maintenance I've saved lots. I had a Polaris 98 600 triple that drank Amsoil and when I sold it with 6000 miles on the odo she was like new with compression within a few lbs of new. It has been gone two years now but the new owner has not had a failure yet either. Buddies run it in everything, same results. The Edge will go on an AMS diet once she is good and broken in. The only downside is they should not be used during break in on most things as they do not allow enough wear for components to mate.
  3. Thanks Everyone for the feedback. I'm going to go ahead and mount mine with the buttons on the shield. I would of had it installed originally but it was on back order till now so I'll just do it myself.
  4. I've always added them to my trucks to keep the leading edge from chipping up from rocks. I can't say they do much for the windscreen though. I too tend to collect rocks regardless of what I'm driving. The PT cruiser collected so many that I now have just left it dinged. I tried a Bra a few years back on my Celica and Probe GT's. Both cars ended up with a disaster under it. I've since ran nothing on the cars but the shields on the trucks/ Looking at my instructions they show them attached to the hood - I'm not keen on this. Are yours on the screen itself? I would prefer that but the instructions are very clear on this. I thought maybe the reason was they tapped the hood so often that if they were on the screen they would mark the paint so they figured a bit of glue was better - who knows! See diagram below for the details.
  5. Michelin tires came on our Edge. 18" Chrome Clad wheels.
  6. I finally received my Bug Deflector that was ordered with my Edge. It has these little rubber bumpers that appear to attach to the hood to keep the deflector from hitting it. This is the first one I've seen for a vehicle that has these. These will be a bugger to wax around and I doubt they will stay stuck on. Has anyone else added one and what did you do with these bumpers? I was thinking of omitting them or looking for another brand of deflector. I'm not keen on these cheesy stick on things.
  7. AWD here - Ontario winters !
  8. Looks great! I used Excelon's in my Monte and they have been great.
  9. I would not of bought it with a third row. We specifically liked the leg and cargo room it has. 5 seats is not a bad thing. Now if a Corvette had 5 seats I'd buy one, why don't they put more seats in the back of it!
  10. We chose the Edge over the Nitro for the handling. There was no comparison. Do a back to back test ride and the Edge will be on it's way to a new home. Be sure to do an abandoned parking lot run to really compare for yourself. Panic stop, swerve, and run her in tight circles alternating direction. The Edge will give you the ability to miss things rather than nail them due to it's superb emergency maneuver manners. As for the brakes, I find them pretty darn decent. Our 07 Edge SEL AWD came factory fitted with the Michelins. I towed for the first time this week to the cottage and the Edge performed flawless dragging the extra 2000lbs out back, 5 people and a hatch full of gear. What I have found is the Edge likes to be driven. You can push it pretty darn far for a CUV.
  11. Now after 1800 on the odo I can honestly say the glare is a non issue for us. I really have to look for it. It is less than my PT and about the same as the Monte SS. Nothing out of the normal here. Our interior is Charcoal and was built in June.
  12. It would be great if you would post a "how to" when your done. I'm thinking of the same thing. Footwells and over the console. Console led would be over the storage compartment pointing down to light cup holders. Tricky setting down coffee at night.
  13. One of the fella's on here took his edge wheels and put them on his Fusion so It is quite possible they would swap the other way. I'm also interested in a wheel swap for winter.
  14. I actually really like the Sage colour. Sometimes it looks silver and sometimes I can see a tint of green. I would of chose it or Blazing Copper myself. We went Redfire though. Wife really liked it. She originally wanted Amethyst but when she saw it in person she was not so sure. We were on vacation and happened to see a Redfire Edge on a dealers lawn so we stopped and had a look. The wife was sold on the colour so the Amethyst was out. She thought the Redfire looked pinkish - doh! Funny thing with the redfire is under street lights it looks like blazing copper. We were at a bar on the Patio the othe rnight and our Edge was across the street under a lamp. A friend with us pointed it out and said I thought your Edge was Red?. He truly thought it was orange. At night or when overcast it is a Burgandy and in direct sun sort of a pink tint. Not sure what they had in mind with these colours but they all seem to change under different light conditions. Sort of a throw back to the psychadelic 70's.
  15. All I can say is we really like ours. The issues I read about, glare, braking, poor lift gate handles - no problem with us. I actually find the brake real good. Only had one wholly s*^% stop so far and it was no problem. I have to admit the brake complaint was on my mind the first few days but once the brakes were broken in and I started to really drive it they actually work like a charm. Only problem is the thing just rolls forever and does not like to cruise under 80 - doh! We did allot of research before buying this one and I'm very glad we made the choice we did.
  16. Well the edge has been around for a few weeks now and we are really enjoying it. So far we've logged just over 1200 and all is well. Found one thing though with the trailer hitch. I bought a ball mount, ball and lock kit for the back and found the holes for the safety chains are to close to the pin. The lock type won't work at all and a standard pin is pretty snug. The pin should of been further back so it was not directly in line with the safety chains. Not sure on my work around yet. I ordered the front bug deflector with it but it is still on back order and they don't know when they will get it. They also got in flaps for the front but they were downright cheesy. Basically a flat flap, not contoured like the picture. I hope they come up with something else soon. I grabbed some mats at Canadian tire that fit perfect. They are black and deep treaded. Rear is a single full width. Unfortunately they put them on sale for 40% off yesterday, I bought mine 2 weeks ago - doh! Took it to pick up the kids from camp on Saturday and found the rear hatch just right for all their gear. It is a bit smaller than my old explorer back there but not as much as I would of thought. I actually have the rear carpet protector from the Ex in the Edge now till I get the proper one. It is just a bit longer but the same width. I have to say that I'm very impressed with this vehicle. The ride and handling is excellent as is the braking. I found it takes a while to really adjust to the vehicle and it likes to be driven.
  17. I ask the dealer to insure there are no dealer stickers on the vehicle. I don't mind the license plate frame. I ended up with one on my Monte SS. I just took a plastic squeegee and worked it between the emblem and the bottom of the adhesive tape after I heated it with a blow dryer. I then used 3M adhesive remover to take off the glue and bottom of the tape. 10 minute process. After a while I ditch the dealer frame also. I have a new OFSC Volunteer Proud one to go on the edge!
  18. Vehicle is so easy to get in and out of I never noticed there were no front grab handles till now. So my answer is no, there is no front handle - thanks for pointing that out ! LOL. Honestly, the vehicle is real easy to get in and out of. If they really have a tough time getting in there is always the back seat!
  19. I'd stop by the dealer and have them take a look at it before you loose any sleep. I would not consider this a major flaw. It is easily fixed. Let us know how you make out.
  20. I'm 5-10 and a bit and the wife is 5-6 and I never noticed anything. Actually I can lean my head back a bit and rest it comfortably while riding in the passenger seat. We both ahve our seats tilted back two clicks though. I've been going over all the complaints I've read about just to make sure they are not an issue with ours and so far we're good to go. The rear hatch handle is another - it is great. Both my wife and I find both handles work great with little effort.
  21. That's too bad you rhaving troubles. So far so good with ours. The AC is excellent even after sitting out and baking with the shades open and the charcoal interior. Mind you the seats were smoking at first but that is the same with our Monte. Leave the shade open and the black seats really heat up. I just drop the window for a minute a bit and it cools right off. I can see some glare but no worse thatn any other vehicle we have if not better. Ours is charcoal inside so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Most of the complaints I've read are with the light interiors. I also wonder if they changed something on the later ones to help.
  22. How about a 69 Fairlane, 351 4 gear. Looking for a pickup now but have not decided on brand - may be F150 super crew.
  23. Nice "Birthday" present LOL. Now the race is on to see who can get the most miles logged!
  24. We spent allot of time looking around and testing the various vehicels out there. We are not brand biased and have a Chrysler PT, Ford Explorer and Chevrolet Monte SS in the laneway. We buy based on the best fit for what we are looking for. My wife is really going to be the principal driver of the Edge (or at least that is how the search started out) The criteria was fun, safe, sharp, responsive, good power, excellent bad weather manners, good visibility and reliable. She wants a vehicle she can take anywhere in any weather and feel safe while enjoying the trip. Boring boxes like the Pilot fell off the list real quick as did the Hylander. We checked out the Nitro, Patriot, MDX, CX-7, CX-9, Acadia, Outlook, Torrent, Vue, Equinox, Escape, Lime Charger R/T (not sure what happened there - just a cool car), CRV and RAV4 The Nitro was the early winner before the Edge came out and then she drove the Nitro and was very disappointed. The leather was very poor quality and the handling was something Dodge should be ashamed of. It was downright poor driving. Our 88 and 91 Jeeps drove better. She really had her heart set on the Nitro until the test drive. After taking the grand tour and reading reports, surfing the forums, asking owners we had pretty much narrowed the field. Then she drove an Edge and that was that. She felt it was built for her, fit her like a glove and she felt as comfortable driving it as she did the Monte SS and as safe as the Explorer for abd weather. First time she saw the Edge she put it off as a Car on Steroids but she didn't take the time to look close. Her first comment turned out to be oh so true - it is a car, nice car at that on steroids. That is what I think makes it such a great car. She had me change her desktop on her laptop the the Edge from the Nitro and I knew that was that. The hardest part was deciding on the colour. Originally she wanted Amethyst but then when it came time she changed her mind and had the dealer locate a Redfire equipped her way and 2 days later was driving it. So to end up with an Edge after all we went through to pick this vehicle says allot for the vehicle. Our decision was not take lightly and we looked at everything. By the way our dealer was superb and really went the extra mile to earn our business!
  25. Well 300km and we're really liking it. Two trips to the city and around town so far. I still can't get over how nice driving a vehicle it is. The kids love their personal sunroof and the reclining seats. Noticed a small scuff on the rear pass quarter that I'll get looked at but otherwise perfect. So far average mileage is 12 l / 100 (approx 20mpg us) combined city / hwy since new. Very impressed and if it gets better after break in I'll be estatic. Only problem is I can't come up with enough excuses to take it for rides.
