  1. Would be more appropriate if she was dressed in cammo and had an artificial arm and/or leg, like so many of our returning soldiers being maimed for W's fiasco. Except, of course, children of powerful republican politicians don't go to war. We may need to bring back into service many of the wounded soldiers when we attack Iran next year.
  2. Homelink is standard on the 2008 Edge Limited. The power rear hatch is now availbale on the 2008 Edge as well. The MKX has, from what I can see, the following additional features/options not available on the Edge. More power seat adjustments (10 vs 6), cooled seats, THX stereo, adaptive headlights, rear heated seats, different front end, different rear end, black rear spoiler regardless of car color, limited options for several colors that have more bling, more sound insulation and slightly softer ride, different dash with real wood trim.
  3. That TSW wheel is primo, especially with your color Edge. I can relate to the cash considerations, however. I really don't care for the black wheel unless it is on a black car, just my personal preference. I would put the cash in a Section 529 College savings account or a Roth IRA and keep the stock wheels. But, if you are set on new wheels, do it right and get the TSW. You will be glad you did EVERY time you walk up to your Edge, whether it is in the garage or elsewhere. If it puts a smile on your face every time you see it, then it is worth the cash, assuming that you can swing it financially. If you are having reservations, follow your gut and use the money more productively. You never know when you might need that extra cash for something really important down the line. The economy isn't that great right now and looking to get worse. Good luck and tell us what you decide!!!
  4. Info I was given for a 2008 Edge Limited FWD for a 36 month 36000 mile lease is 52% residual, 2% lease interest rate, and $1000 in total cash back. The 2007 Edge lease interest rate is a little lower but the residual is like 46% or 48%. Our dealer did not have a 2007 like my wife wanted so it was cheaper for us to order the 2008 than to have our dealer go get the 2007 somewhere else. Plus, she gets SYNC, Homelink, and a power liftgate with the 2008. More features for less money made the 2008 an easy choice for us. I know the AWD residuals are a point or two higher than the FWD residuals. Ours lists for $32,170 (Limited FWD, trailer tow, sirius, cargo mgmt, and power liftgate) and the zero down monthly lease payment will be $450, which includes our lovely local 8.3% sales tax on each payment.
  5. Current lease incentinve on the 2008 Edge in KS is $1000. Rate for 36 month lease is 2% and residual for 12,000 miles per year lease is 52%. My dealer has agreed to use invoice as the cap cost figure for the lease with us getting all incentives in place at the time of delivery. My guess is it will be here in early December and December is usually a better incentive month than now for leases or purchases. The last month of the quarter seems to always have the best incentives.
  6. Where do I begin? Have been looking at Edge's and MKX's for 5 months. Finally get down to ordering several 2008's for me to consider when they arrive because I could not make up my mind. Black Edge Limited with camel leather and a black MKX monochrome limited edition. In all the looking and driving, my wife decides that since I got the last new car it is her turn! That is the bad news. The good news is that she likes the Edge really well too. Well, long story short is that we now have coming a Creme Brulee Limited with camel leather for her. Deal is for a lease with them using invoice as the cap cost and us getting any applicable incentives, which currently total $1000. My guess is that the incentives will be better in December, when the Creme Brulee should arrive unless there is a strike at Ford too. 2% interest rate on the lease with a 52% residual. Moral of the story, I need to be more decisive as had I been, I would be getting the new car!
  7. Maybe it was an AWD rather than a FWD.
  8. I drove a Dark Ink Blue 2008 Taurus for a weekend recently. In direct sunlight and up close, it is a beautiful highly metallic very dark blue color. It is almost black. From a distance, it looks black, but like a dirty black. There is so much metal flake in the paint that it looks like a black car with a coat of dust on it all the time, even on the sides of the car. I greatly prefer the glossy shine of a true black or a color with less metallic flake to it. It is purely a personal thing, but that color would not be acceptable to me at all. I greatly prefered the dark blue color that the 2007 Lincoln MKZ was available in. That was a beautiful and classic dark blue. It was metallic, but not so much so that it had the dirty look that the new color does. Some may love it. My prediction is that many more won't and that it will be dropped across the board after 2008. It is just not going to appeal to that many blue car lovers, of which I am one.
  9. So, what if I don't have an Ipod or a bluetooth phone? What will Sync do for me!?!
  10. If you did not get the dual electronic climate control you don't have an external temp readout in the car. If you do, there is a small button below the display that says Ext. Press that and you will get the external temp in a digital readout.
  11. The Autosport catalog has really nice, heavy metal ones with glass plate covers. I have them on my cars. They are $40-$50 per unit, but very heavy duty. They are like a vault for your license plate.
  12. It would be helpful to include the MSRP for the vehicle as well so we can compare MSRP to purchase price. Since registration and sales tax is different everywhere, leaving out the sales tax and registration costs would be helpful as well. MSRP, options & model, and sales price before tax and regstration allows for the best comparison. Good idea to post the transaction info for use by others in the market.
  13. THX sound system in MKS is FAR better than the Audiophile system in the Edge. The leather can be different if you get the cooled seats in the MKX, as it is perforated. But, are these things worth the cost difference? That is a personal decision that we all face. I would prefer everything about the MKX except the grille, which I like better on the Edge. But, the $6000 difference in price is too much for me. $36K for an Edge Limited with everything beats $42K for the MKX with same stuff plus the upgraded stereo, cooled seats, rear heated seats & the way cool full width LED tail lights.
  14. I ordered the 2008 FWD for several reasons. First, don't think I need the AWD here in SE KS. If we get so much snow or ice that FWD cannot get around, then I'll stay home. Second, wanted the better MPG FWD offers. Third, would rather have the additional $$$ to spend on other things, such as BAMR and Nav and 20" wheels. Yes, I know that is shallow, but I plead guilty.
  15. Hi SVO, I'm on this board too. Will keep both boards posted.
  16. Gee, I guess this means the 2008 Edge Limited my dealer is ordering for me will be delayed. It is a Limited with SYNC, BAMR and 20" wheels. Bummer!
  17. May I ask why you decided not to paint the lower doors and rocker panels? Just curious.
  18. Black on black is the most beautiful color combo when it is clean. Really accents the chrome grille I wheels. I'll bet is looks sweet!
  19. You have the better tires from the factory. The earlier buit units had a different brand that were not as good in the grip department, leading to some of the poorer braking distances reported by some of the magazines.
  20. Well, they certainly didn't care for the MKX. Not everyone wants a CUV to drive like a sports car. Not everyone wants the interior to look like the battle bridge of the starship Enterprise either. Seems to me that if you like an attractive, roomy, smooth riding luxury CUV with unmatched levels of equipment, the MKX is a pretty good choice. The only legitimate gripe is the brakes, and that is being taken care of with the tire changes being made. I drove an MKX for a weekend test drive and thought it was a pretty nice vehicle.
  21. I have seen somewhere a demo or a picture of the SYNC system on a regular Ford radio without the Nav screen. So, based on that, my prediction is that you DO NOT get a Nav screen unless you order the Nav system. Of course, my prediction and $3.19 will buy a gallon of gas!
  22. My local dealer in Kansas has a well equipped Dune Pearl 2007 Edge in stock if you are looking for one. Go to www.fordvehicles.com and do an inventory search using zip code 67301 and you will find it.
  23. I saw a 2008 Taurus in Dark Ink Blue on Saturday. Looks like black with blue metalflakes in it. It was dusty, so could not get a 100% read but it was very sunny at the time. I personally did not care for it. Black with the camel interior looked far better IMO. But, some will prefer the dark blue. I really like the dark blue that is on the 2007 Lincoln MKZ much better, but that is being dropped for 2008 in favor of the Dark Ink Blue. Frankly, the Edge and MKX look good in all the colors. Saw a 2008 Taurus in the Light Ice Blue. If you like lighter colors, that was a very attractive one and would be far easier to keep looking good than a darker color.
  24. I just went to the 2008 Edge Pictures on this site, so have seen the red interior pictures. Looks pretty sweet!
  25. Has anyone who works at the plant seen one of the 2008 Edge red leather interiors yet? If so, what is the other color in the interior? The seat inserts are to be red leather but I can't find what the rest of the seat, carpet, dash, etc. colors will be. Thanks for your help.
