  1. Would a K&N CAI kit void the factory warranty? I'd be a little cautious there.
  2. What's so hard about manually locking the doors? This is actually the first car I have had that auto locks them at 12mph. Do you people really think if someone really wants to rob you that a locked car door will really matter? It's not too hard to break through a car door glass with anything of significant weight. What are you going to do if they have a gun?
  3. If it's still under warranty any dealer can do the work. It doesn't have to be the dealership you originally bought the car from.
  4. I agree about the AC output. It gets plenty cold, don't get me wrong, but the output is lacking. I live in Missisippi and it is usually around 80% or greater humidity and close to 100 degrees outside. My wife drives the Edge and has not once complained about the AC output, but I have noticed it. The AC in my Honda blows at 2 what the Edge blows at 4. Ford should have put switches on the rear vents so you can close them. If I drove the Edge every day, I would likely figure out a way to block the rear vents.
  5. Certified used and they missed THAT!? Who certified this thing? Some grease monkey on crack? Seriously, I would take the vehicle back and ask for my money back. Then I'd take my business to a different dealership. That is fricken unacceptable.
  6. You guys were not kidding. Changed my oil for the first time yesterday. Dang filter was on so tight it almost broke my filter wrench. I crushed the end of the filter in a bit and was worried I wouldn't be able to get it off without jamming a screwdriver through it. My oil plug was tight, but not too tight. I was also shocked that the oil plug was metric (actually the same size as on my Honda). I thought American made vehicles would be totally SAE
  7. Do yourself a favor and NEVER, I mean NEVER have a dealership perform repairs (unless they are covered under warranty and you don't have to pay anything.) Find a good independent shop (preferably a Ford certified shop...if those exist.....I know they have Honda Certified Shops for Honda) and get them to look at it. Dealership service shops are a RIP OFF. Also don't always take the dealer's word that it is not covered under warranty. Do some of your own research.
  8. Did you ask them what they "repaired"? I sure hope you didn't pay them anything for the "repairs."
  9. I thought about buying used as well. but when you buy new you get 0% financing for 60 months. Used - the best they could do was around 6%. So the payments wound up being only about $50 different. That was a no brainer to me. Have you researched the interest rate you will be getting on the used one to compare the payments?
  10. I would say tan as well. Black would look weird in my opinion. Plus black is harder to keep clean, it shows everything you get on it.
  11. I've already been thinking about buying these. Anybody know anywhere they sell them cheaper than buying them direct from Weathertech? I surfed the net a while and came up with nothing. I just find it hard to spend over $200 for floor liners. I want the whole package though: front, rear, and cargo area.
  12. Dangit I hate dead threads :beatdeadhorse: That's why I always click the "new threads" button on my forums. I didn't even look at the date on post #3 haha.
  13. It is a common practice of insurance companies to use aftermarket parts if the car is more than a year old. Read your own auto policy. I guarantee you somewhere it says they will replace parts with aftermarket or used OEM. Or they will charge you "betterment" for using new OEM because you were "left better off than you were before the claim" because you had brand new parts. The mentality is, your car was used (not brand new off the lot.) So either you get used Ford parts, or brand new aftermarket parts. The aftermarket parts are just as good. Body shops make extra money by using OEM parts so they will bring it to your attention in a hurry if insurance is figuring aftermarket. How do they make more money by using OEM you ask? They order them at a discount but they charge you full retail for the part and pocket the difference. OEM parts is probably what made it total. If you had been OK with aftermarket Progressive might have fixed it. But if I were you, I would have wanted it to total anyway. That would kill you on the resale for them to see $17k worth of damage on a Carfax. Plus the car probably never would have been the same. I guarantee you would have had some (maybe small) issues with the way it handled or rattling noises or something in the future.
  14. Seriously? Call the dealer who sold you the car and DEMAND they get that code for you for free. I'm sure your Edge wasn't cheap. That is ridiculous!
