  1. Would a K&N CAI kit void the factory warranty? I'd be a little cautious there.
  2. What's so hard about manually locking the doors? This is actually the first car I have had that auto locks them at 12mph. Do you people really think if someone really wants to rob you that a locked car door will really matter? It's not too hard to break through a car door glass with anything of significant weight. What are you going to do if they have a gun?
  3. If it's still under warranty any dealer can do the work. It doesn't have to be the dealership you originally bought the car from.
  4. I agree about the AC output. It gets plenty cold, don't get me wrong, but the output is lacking. I live in Missisippi and it is usually around 80% or greater humidity and close to 100 degrees outside. My wife drives the Edge and has not once complained about the AC output, but I have noticed it. The AC in my Honda blows at 2 what the Edge blows at 4. Ford should have put switches on the rear vents so you can close them. If I drove the Edge every day, I would likely figure out a way to block the rear vents.
  5. Certified used and they missed THAT!? Who certified this thing? Some grease monkey on crack? Seriously, I would take the vehicle back and ask for my money back. Then I'd take my business to a different dealership. That is fricken unacceptable.
  6. You guys were not kidding. Changed my oil for the first time yesterday. Dang filter was on so tight it almost broke my filter wrench. I crushed the end of the filter in a bit and was worried I wouldn't be able to get it off without jamming a screwdriver through it. My oil plug was tight, but not too tight. I was also shocked that the oil plug was metric (actually the same size as on my Honda). I thought American made vehicles would be totally SAE
  7. Do yourself a favor and NEVER, I mean NEVER have a dealership perform repairs (unless they are covered under warranty and you don't have to pay anything.) Find a good independent shop (preferably a Ford certified shop...if those exist.....I know they have Honda Certified Shops for Honda) and get them to look at it. Dealership service shops are a RIP OFF. Also don't always take the dealer's word that it is not covered under warranty. Do some of your own research.
  8. Did you ask them what they "repaired"? I sure hope you didn't pay them anything for the "repairs."
  9. I thought about buying used as well. but when you buy new you get 0% financing for 60 months. Used - the best they could do was around 6%. So the payments wound up being only about $50 different. That was a no brainer to me. Have you researched the interest rate you will be getting on the used one to compare the payments?
  10. I would say tan as well. Black would look weird in my opinion. Plus black is harder to keep clean, it shows everything you get on it.
  11. I've already been thinking about buying these. Anybody know anywhere they sell them cheaper than buying them direct from Weathertech? I surfed the net a while and came up with nothing. I just find it hard to spend over $200 for floor liners. I want the whole package though: front, rear, and cargo area.
  12. Dangit I hate dead threads :beatdeadhorse: That's why I always click the "new threads" button on my forums. I didn't even look at the date on post #3 haha.
  13. It is a common practice of insurance companies to use aftermarket parts if the car is more than a year old. Read your own auto policy. I guarantee you somewhere it says they will replace parts with aftermarket or used OEM. Or they will charge you "betterment" for using new OEM because you were "left better off than you were before the claim" because you had brand new parts. The mentality is, your car was used (not brand new off the lot.) So either you get used Ford parts, or brand new aftermarket parts. The aftermarket parts are just as good. Body shops make extra money by using OEM parts so they will bring it to your attention in a hurry if insurance is figuring aftermarket. How do they make more money by using OEM you ask? They order them at a discount but they charge you full retail for the part and pocket the difference. OEM parts is probably what made it total. If you had been OK with aftermarket Progressive might have fixed it. But if I were you, I would have wanted it to total anyway. That would kill you on the resale for them to see $17k worth of damage on a Carfax. Plus the car probably never would have been the same. I guarantee you would have had some (maybe small) issues with the way it handled or rattling noises or something in the future.
  14. Seriously? Call the dealer who sold you the car and DEMAND they get that code for you for free. I'm sure your Edge wasn't cheap. That is ridiculous!
  15. I wish I had seen this earlier. I am an insurance adjuster. I do commercial claims (Auto, P&C, Workers Comp, and more.) The first thing I would have asked you is "Who is the other party's insurance company and who is your insurance company?" If you answered "Progressive" I could have told they would total it. Progressive totals many more vehicles than they should. I assume they just have far too many inexperienced adjusters. Once I got in the insurance business I immediately switched my insurance from Progressive when I saw how horrible they handled claims. If your own insurance has done their own appraisal and tells you it is totaled and they are paying you (only taking your underinsured motorist deductible I hope), you don't have many options. You might as well take the $ and call it a day. Not worth the fight in my opinion. But if you do want to fight it, let me know what state you are in and who your insurance company is. I may be able to think of some things you could try.
  16. Good point. That didn't even cross my mind. It is doing the same thing on both sides.
  17. 2009 SEL I am going to take the car back to the dealer to fix, but wanted to see if anyone knows what would be causing this: The side rearview mirrors will only move outward and upward using the motor. If you need to move the mirror inward or down, you have to do it by hand. This was something we didn't think to check when we bought the car. Bought it brand new. It has fewer than 1000 miles on it.
  18. You definitely need to call the dealership back and verify the VIN. They must have told you a wrong digit somewhere. If the VIN was correct, the verification process would work.
  19. I'm Jonathan from Brandon, MS. Just bought a new 09 Edge SEL on 5/21/09 - redfire metallic, light stone (looks tan to me) cloth interior, and Sync. This is our first new car. We replaced a 95 Honda Accord EX V6 that my wife had for 10 years (her dad bought it before we even met.) It was because of that car that I was introduced to forums. It liked to act up every now and then, so I turned to forums for problem diagnosis. I joined hondaaccordforum.com years ago and I wound up becoming a moderator haha. I guess they figured I knew enough about cars from my personal experience as well as research for others' problems. Anyway if anyone ever decides to venture over to hondaaccordforum.com, you may see some of my tracks. On that forum I am 00AccordLX5spd. The new Edge rocks . My wife loves it. Her dad is the commercial accounts manager and new salesman recruiter at the local Ford Dealership (Watson Quality Ford), so we got the D-plan. First time I have ever bought a car without even asking what we were paying for it haha. I wound up springing for the 100k warranty as well as GAP coverage since both only increased the payment by about $20/month. Anywhoo.... just introducing myself and glad to be here :happy feet: Now I need to make myself a signature.......
