  1. Are you serious...you really consider this to be an issue?
  2. This is why you never buy a redesigned model with a Major electronics upgrade over the previous models. Alot of people are having issue with the My Touch...go figure it's Microsoft
  3. This is the exact reason I didn't purchase a 2011 Edge but got a 2010 instead. The new electronics were almost guaranteed to be a big issue, I give it 2 years before Ford has it all figured out
  4. There is no way to adjust the caster on this vehicle, Ford didn't think that it would ever be necessary so they didn't build a way to adjust it into the vehicle which is idiotic if you ask me.
  5. I don't know that I would spend alot of time on going over the features. The owners manual explains all of them alot better than any one of the salesmen will ever do. WHat is important though is cosmetics. Make sure the vehicle is clean, if it is parked under cover move it outside in the sun so you can get a good look at it(do not take delivery at night), look down the sides very carefully for any dings, get up close and look for scratches, look at all the body gaps and make sure they are even. The cosmetics are the #1 thing to be concerned at this time because once you drive it off the lot anything you notice is "your fault" and do all of this before signing any paperwork that way if there are things tha you need taken care of it can state so in the paperwork, DO NOT TAKE THEIR WORD ON IT GET IT IN WRITING.
  6. The real problem is that there is no caster adjustment and camber only has a slight amount of adjustment on this vehicle. As Flyerjmr33 said that thing should pull right all day long just because of the negative caster onteh right side. Has the vehicle been in an accident of any kind?
  7. This really al depends on the vehicle and the kit. I installed a set of HIDS on a VW Passat that I had. I checked current draw on the headlamp circuit before and after the install using a labscope adn setting the itme at 1 ms. The stock headlights and the HID kit I used drew the same amperage at startup and the same once they were started. On different vehciels with differetn kits this will change either way I'm sure. On your Edge I highly suggest running a relay setup due to the fact that the headlights are powered through the Smart Junction Box, if this were to burn out due to an issue with your HID kit it is a pricey fix and I don't know about you but I would rather spend the $25-$30 (I think) for the relay kit from a forum sponsor than shelling out the $1000 to replace the SJB
  8. Let me start off by saying that I am a mechanic by trade for 24 years now, MY cost on a good set of front brake pads is $60 and you got everything for a little over $300....I have a feeling that you aren't gonna be happy, maybe not right away but soon.
  9. The example that you posted is a module that gets spliced into the exsisting wiring between the switch and the motor. When the window gets raised or lowered the module goes into action, now when the window comes to a stop either open or closed the window motor continues to run and being that the motor can't move the window any more the current draw goes up, the module sees this rising current draw and then shuts down the window motor. When this is used in conjunciton with an alarm system the module is wired into the alarm module.
  10. I think it may work. On my 2010 the microphone is just left of the overhead console adn at the very edge of the sunvisor...don't have any issues whatsoever however the wife doesn't like it because when we are talking to firends on the phone they can never hear what she is saying from the passenger seat.
  11. SHort answer is no. The switches are different, the window motors are different and the additional wiring is probably not in the vehicles harness and the SJB may have to be reprogrammed but I think this would be for remote usage only
  12. DOn't know if they will work but I advise against the drilled and slotted rotors. WHy is it you are wanting to use them? You will not get any braking improvement. A high end brake pad such as Akebono on the stock rotors will do the job nicely and probably be better than the factory setup.
  13. This trans was developed in 2004 by Ford and GM. GM, Ford and Chrysler all use this trans in various vehicles and given that 3 different mfgs are using a version of it it probably is a reasonably sound unit. I think most of the issues are going to be a direct result of programming as each mfg is obviously going to tune it for different applications.
  14. I wouldn't even mess with the BBB, they are an entity that has no bite. I wish you luck in your lemon law action but IMO you aren't going to get anywhere. I have to ask though why in the world do you keep going back to this dealership as they have proven their incompetence time and time again.
  15. I'm averaging 17 mpg...although the mileage computer says 18.9.
  16. It's for this very reason that when I change the oil on mine I use the Motorcraft oil and Motorcraft filter. Todays vehicles that are equipped with variable cam timing such as the Edge are very critical on the oil as it is the oil that controls the variable cam timing. This is an ongoing battle with Ford as I have repaired alot of the V8 motors that use the same setup. Funny how you never really run into these issues on Honda or Toyota engines that use this same type of system and have been using it for at least a decade now.
  17. I've got a 2010 Edge with nav. Is it possible to set it so that when you start the vehicle the radio automatically displays full screen instead of having the split screen...really kind of annoys me. I've gone through all the settings adn can't seem to come up with anything.
  18. This is going to sound bad so I apologize in advance. You are basically complaining about radio problems....hardly makes the vehicle unsafe. The rotors warping at low mileage is a problem experienced from time to time by every manufacturer out there. You DRASTICALLY overstated the problem when you said your brakes failed. Sounds like your trans issue got resolved. As for the sunroof, I agree Ford needs to pull their head out of their ass and get it fixed however it hardly makes the vehicel unsafe. SHould you be having these issues, no, but I think you are being a bit dramatic
  19. Sorry but I'm not buying it. If you think that you are going to get Ford to buy back a 2007 vehicle good luck...ain't gonna happen you have a better chance of winning the lottery. What were you going to the auto parts store for in the first place....brake pads??
  20. I think it's alot easier than you are making it out to be. The way i fill all my vehicles is to let the pump run until it clicks off, wait a few seconds and then just barely squeeze the fuel pump so that fuel begins to flow, when it clicks back off I'm done. On my Edge when the low fuel message comes on I always get about the same amount of fuel in the tank when I fill up, the + or - 1/2 gallon isn't going to make a huge difference in mpg calculation. The idiotic mpg calculator on the dash is about as useless as the mpg estimator on the window sticker...isn't it funny how the mpg calculator and the mpg estimations on the window sticker are really close in real life. Realistically this vehicle is good for about 15-16 in town and about 22 on the freeway at todays driving conditions. Now if you cruise at 55 mph on the freeway...which will make everyone extremely happy...you will get alot higher mileage. JMO
  21. The mpg calculator is not by any means close to accurate. Right now mine says 18.1 mpg but in all acutality I am getting 16.3, that's basically all in town driving.
  22. Glad you got it back finally and that all is going well. Only comment I have is on the mileage issue. When I rebuild engines, or transmissions for that matter I personally make it a point to put at least 50 miles on them before returning the vehicle back to the customer, that way if something does happen it happens to me and not the customer who inevitably will be very upset. At my shop, and others as well I'm sure, when the vehicle is in the care of the shop it should be covered under the shop insurance policy 100%. 98% of the rest of your issues are the servicing dealers fault, they should have handled it better. I guarantee that when Ford receives the engine back and tears it down it will take them all of 5 minutes to find the problem. They put this engine in multiple vehicles so I'm sure that they build a few hundred thousand or more of these motors every year and unfortunately once in a while things are going to happen...doesn't make it right but unfortunately it can't be avoided.....now hurry up and go trade that thing in before you have to put gas in it
