  1. I have had my 2011 sport fwd since october, i travel about 100 miles per day, with a lot if idling time in the winter especially, as i am in sales here in cleveland ohio. I had a 2010 edge ltd fwd prior to this one. the sport definately eats more fuel. i just drove round trip to ft. lauderdale, and although the computed fuel economy wasn't bad at 20.8 mpg's (that was averaging about 70 to 75 mph (with a long run thru geogio w/cruise set at 82) so not bad. but by comparison to the 3.5 ltd, the 2011 sport gets about 3 to 4 mpg less combined. i drive approx 36,000 year and basically live in the car and have noticed especially in city driving the sport does poorly. that being said, if you keep it at posted speeds, 60 - 65, for any length of time the mpg really picks up into the 22-23 mpg range. but who actually drives 62 onn the freeway? no one here in cleveland....it's either 75 or 25. overall, excluding the MYFORD TOUCH issues (been reflashed twice, still not any better) the sport is much nicer riding vehicle thatn the 2010 ltd. the 22" tires and wheels did a great job this winter as we got pounded all winter long....just goes to show as long as you have a good tire with good tread, you can drive thru almost anything if you are not crazy to try anything stupid...common sense I have noticed though that I have an awful lot of stone chips behind all 4 wheels though and also in front of the rear wheels....propbably due to the tires being oversized abit and actually sticking out over the wheel wells just an inch or so i had an oil change done at the local lincoln dealer here and the gm saw my car and came up to me and asked where he could get rims like that for his MKX's (which look very cheap to me) to "sport" them up. he didn't realize that they were standard w/sport. they are also a customer of mine and actually had a customer that was in the showroom looking at the MKX come outside, look at the sport compared to the MKX, looked at the stickers of each one, and he basically said...sport here i come! I loved it...not to mention that the sport had a sticker about $8000 less than the MKX he was looking at comparably equipped. roll on Blue Oval....great vehicle...now let's get the techno stuff (MYFORD Touch) system fixed!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I have a silver sport myself. I choose it because I thought the wheels would really accent the car and "pop" out when looked at. I think I made the right choice as everything ties in together....especially with the black belt line on this model to break up the silver. I had a 2010 edge limited, but this vehicle really is totally different in almost all aspects...ride, handling, braking, road noise etc. Frankly, it was priced less than my limited by about $2100 also.
  3. I orderd my sport on June 10th. It was built on july 13th. after all the updates...so i am told finally delivered on october 20th...go figure. it has been worth the wait in my opinion. i had a 2010 edge ltd, this baby runs circles around the previous model in regards to fit/finish, braking, handling as well as road noise. I know i have the sport with a beefed up suspension, but i know that they also beefed up all 2011 models including the brakes which were way too soft and really didn't "grab" the car when applied. I think it will be worth the wait. I have had the vehicle for a little over 2 months and have 6200 miles on it. Still learn something new regarding the nav/sync system everyday....just takes time
  4. I agree....i have the sport in cleveland, i love this feature. well worht the extra $ in my opinion. The keyless is also great... much more consistant and faster than other makers as far as touching the door handle to lock or unlock. this should work just as well in the summer..;..coming off the 18th green and coolin' 'er down before i get to the parking lot!!!
  5. Hey Cav, Just came back from dealer here in Cleveland (go Cavs....forgot they still suck) anyway, I had same problem...partial activation of Sirius. Service guy showed me an e-mail that was broadcast out to Ford dealers....it's a software problem from Sirius (according to Ford) that Sirius is working on. I had a 2010 Edge Ltd w/nav and all the bells...that system was so much easier, problem free than the new one. I understand that things aren't perfect, and bugs need to be worked out. but I thought these bugs were worked out this summer with the delay of the release of these units. My sport was built on July 13 and released on October 10th! My wife works for Ford and I spoke to a couple of "insiders" that the said off the record of course, that they were going back into each already built unit and reprogramming or replacing the software that was originally installed. Regardless, Ford knows of the problems and is working on the fix. I would stay in touch w/your dealer and make sure that you included in any updates that may come out so that you can get your vehicle in for the fix.
  6. Ordered my sport june 20, 2010. it was built on july 13, 2010. It finally got shipped on october 12, 2010, arrived at dealer here in cleveland ohio on october 14, 2010 and took delivery on october 15, 2010. 6-8 weeks?.....i hope so, but if my experience tells you anything, maybe you'll see under your tree late december lol good luck!
  7. I have a 2011 sport, that was built on july 13. I just took delivery of the vehicle 3 weeks ago. My wife at ford and was told that there was a hardware/software problem that was found at the plant. they had to physically go back into every built vehicle that was waiting for ship, emt and retro fix this issue. that is the big reason why the edge release/delivery date kept getting pushed back. i had a 2010 edge w/nav and did have a screen problem (like it froze up) anyway, the dealer showed me that to re-boot the system, you can remove the cover on the lower part of the center counsel that is actually in the back seat (below the air vents that are on the counsel) inside, get a flashlight, and there is an actual "reset" button that you can push (i guess like rebooting a pc) once done at the dealer it was fine for a while, then it happened on the weekend again about 2 months later and I did the "reset" myself - if i could do it anyone can. my 2011 sport has some of the issues you are mentioning, and I hope that it is not"terminal" at this point. I have most times been using the actual touch buttons to control the climate because the screen buttons take to long to recognize the command or sometimes don't work until they are ready to. i have also noticed the usb sometimes is not active on my screen to the right of the speedometer.... with their stock finally getting over $15 yeaterday, I hope this is not a huge problem
  8. I just picked up my 2011 sport about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Silver FWD. I had a 2010 edge ltd fwd and gave it to my daughter (I wish my dad gave me such a nice car) any way, the 2011 sport runs circles around the 2010. I am still learning the Myford aspects of the car. The ride is smoother and much quieter than 2010. I have people stop and ask me all the time if the rims are factory? They cannot believe it when i tell them yes. I am noticing that my microphone for the voice commands is having trouble picking up my voice...especially while on the phone. Anyone else having this problem? also I miss the quick poi as destinations on the nav that the 2010 offered. This system won't let you do as much while "on the move" (safety first i guess) I also miss the automatic downloading of my cd's onto the hard drive. my 14 year old son had to help me with loading the cd's into i-tunes, then making a folder then transfering onto a usb...ended up working though, but just thought i'd mention it. i now have 2208 miles on the car already (i am in sales) and no problems what so ever.
  9. Freddie, This "memo" is not from a post....FORD directly, interoffice. What I am saying is this....the edges that were ordered/produced early, are delayed for this quality issue. They are all in a holding lot at the plant. The ones coming off the line curently or late July are infact already to go with the update. They have to physically go vehicle to vehicle in the lot there and re-program the computer for MYtouch. the vehicles that are built early, my vin ends in 1044, is "buried" in the back of the lot and it will take a while to get to those early built vehicles to do the update and ship. you are right, some edges are starting to hit the dealers, but none of them were early ordered vehicles.
  10. I ordered my 2011 edge sport earlier this summer. My wife works for ford so I am getting this car under her "incremental lease program" . Anyway, mine was built on July 13. But I have not rec'd it yet. There has been a lot of "rumors" as to the delay with these vehicles getting shipped. The biggest I heard from some Ford quality peolpe here in Cleveland is that there was a problem with the MYTouch system and that they have had to go to each vehicle and remedy the situation. The following is a memo that was sent out to Ford executives and salry employees regarding the delay. I hope I see this baby before the snow starts flying here. 4. Fiesta, Edge, and MKX Delivery Timing Fiesta, Edge, and MKX are all NMPs and subject to the process detailed above. Based on feedback from the plant, the remaining Fiestas are expected to arrive at their delivery location by the end of October. The Edges and MKXs are expected to arrive at their delivery location by the end of November. Some vehicles have already been delivered, and some will arrive earlier than stated above, however most are still in the OSM process. The OSM process is manual, therefore we do not have line of sight to the status of individual orders. Vehicles will be prepped and delivered, in the order they arrive, as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
  11. 2011 edges are starting to arrive at dealers here in Cleveland. No Sports anywhere yet. Dealers that I have talked to said although the Sports are in their inventory, they have yet to see any of them. No one knows why just the Sport is not here yet......3.7 engine? hhhmmmmm I wonder. I lhave a 2010 limited, and have ordered a 2011 Sport. The one thing I really like on the 2011's is the huge dual exhaust as compared to the 2010. Even the base SE looks "Nasty" from the back. I can't wait to get into this baby. As far as pricing is considered, I don't see Ford giving these away, especially later in the model year with the 4-cyl engine. They ahve a desirable product, they know it, we as consumers will ultimately have to in some people's minds "pay for it". Looking at the above posts, $800 on a $35,000 product....that is roughly 2% profit. Could your business that you are in survive on a 2% profit margin? Most can't. So get real people, I never saw a Brinks truck in a funeral procession! You can't take it with ya' thats what things cost. Spend the money, enjoy the car you worked so hard to afford to buy
  12. offer him sticker...these will be hard to get for some time and there will be no incentives on them for anytime soon or you could wait until the snow starts flying and see what the programs might be at that time....this is a very anticipated vehicle, that has delayed being shipped for reasons unknown to the common man. there will not be an excess of inventory anytime soon that will allow us as consumers to really "deal" on these cars. If you can get low interest financing, maybe 4.9% or so grab it in my opinion as that will be about all that will be available on this vehicle anytime soon
  13. What you also have to remember is that especially with a model change, there is always a period of "plant shutdown" for retooling and such. So for let's say 1 month or so, nothing is produced, then they will run the line and inspect for quality, if it needs "tweaking" that takes time also. When you think about the scale of it all it is almost overwhelming that we see waht we ordered to begin with. As I said earlier, my edge was built on 7/13/10. allegedly the quality issues have been resolved and these babies are just now getting loaded onto trucks from the "holding" lots. I know mine is close to arrival, as my wife who works for Ford, got an email, that my edge is in transit to her plant where it gets dropped off for a dealer come and pick it up and prep it then they bring it back to the plant for delivery.....why not go to the dealer to begin with? i'll let you know when it arrives here in Cleveland
  14. No new info at this point. But my "insiders" at Ford say the Microsoft/Mytouch/Sync issues have been resolved and the vehicles will start to be released to dealers/customers. I know with my wife working for Ford and her position, that I should have one of the first ones in the cleveland area. It gets drop shipped to her plant, then a dealer comes to pick it up, prep it and return it for pick-up at the plant. These vehicles are what ends up on the lots as "Executive cars" so they get into the public as quick and as early as possible to buld up the hype I think more than anything else. Once it shows up at the plant, I will know and let everyone know that they have finally "arrived" and the dealers will be right behind. My only concern....is that the dealer gets the up to date info on how to "prep" the car before delivery....(right hand knowing what the left is doing if you know what I mean) Hopefully within a week or so I will try to post pics too.
  15. My edge was built on July 13, 2010. I have my vin already. I was told that the "Mytouch/sync" issues have been resolved and cehilces should start to ship soon. Ford is being very, very deliberate w/the release like they were with the new Taurus and the Ecoboost. At this point in the auto industry, they feel that making sure there are not ANY problems and delay release is better than rushing to get product to the dealers only to have a bunch of quality issues pop right back up. Makes sense to me as an average Joe. I'll reply as I hear more on the release....beleive me I can't wait for this bad boy to arrive
  16. I have a 2010 edge ltd now and am getting a 2011 sport. My wife works for Ford and I am getting what's called an "incremental Lease" I ordered every option available and the price came out to be $457/month for 24 months, unlimited miles, $0.00 Maintenence and insurance included on this "incremental Lease" I was talking with the director of quality control from the engine plant here in cleveland, they make the ecoboost on site. He said that the edge w/mytouch, sync systems will be delayed apparently they are having difficulty with the the microsoft technology. This system will enable you to read an incoming text on your screen, pressing the speak button and sayng what you want to text back to whoever sent the incoming text or message Cannot wait to see this baby. Ingot silver, and the 3.7 engine should be a great powerplant with the better suspension and tighter steering Rmmick
