  1. "Inbound!" That is awesome! When I was in the car business if we didn't have it, the typical response was that we have it inbound! Lmao! Of course they are inbound, so is the 2017 edge! All anyone has right now is a list of VIN NUMBERS, believe me. I am able to track my titanium which was built last week every step of the way. Yes you have to have the OK TO SELL/SHIP before anything happens. They could stockpile literally thousands of vehicles in a holding area before they get the OK to start to ship. Then I would imagine it is just luck of the draw unless you are a big wig at Ford. My 2011 edge sport was built in May when the vehicle launched and it didn't ship until October! With my incremental management lease I will know exactly when it gets the OK ship, then I will be notified when it clears customs, it could get caught up there, then I will know if it is on a rail car or a truck and when to expect it at world headquarters where I pick it up. I will keep everyone posted as to the progress. However, with some of the first vehicles off the line. Especially one like mine which is an "in-house" lease basically, they call pull the vehicle and subject it to "road worthy testing" at which point it will be driven for appoximately 2000 miles then if all is well it will then ship out.
  2. Additionally, when someone drove off the lot on December 30, 2014, only 5 weeks ago, in a brand new 2014 vehicle, in the used car market, they are already driving a vehicle that has a value of that vehicle being already 1 year old even before it has had its first oil change. That buyer has not simply lost roughly 25-30% in value due to depreciation the moment the car hit the street from the lot, but also he got whacked with the car 2 days later being 1 year old already too! Why do you think the dealers give these things away right now...and when the 2015 models of that vehicle come out, many banks will not finance that brand new car as a new car because it is although still brand new, a used vehicle due to model year! A 2014 vs. a 2015 model. At that point you will find that those vehicles will usually have the best financing through the manufacturer and not a bank like 5/3 or PNC.
  3. Basically the same, both are auctioned off. Typically you will find current model year fleet and rental vehicles at auction. Most personal or private lease vehicles will be at least 2 years old when hitting the auction. The fleet and rental vehicles are good for obvious reasons, low mileage, still under full factory warranty usually and considerably more affordable than a brand new vehicle. The upside to a dealer getting these vehicles at auction is that many banks will use a "like invoice" of a brand new vehicle for financing purposes. These types of vehicles are desirable because dealers can "bury" a ton of negative equity into them that the customer may have and the bank will still finance the car with the negative equity because when you add the negative equity and whatever cost of the vehicle that the dealer wants to show, as long as it is within a certain range of a brand new, same model year car, the bank will finance the negative equity on that car loan at a new car interest rate which is always lower than on a used car. The better your credit, usually the more negative equity you can bury into a vehicle. For a great creditworthy person, most banks will finance a new car at 110% of MSRP. so if I have $6500 negative equity and the the dealer has bought a 2014 used edge with 9000 miles at auction for let's say $28,000 he can add my negative equity onto that vehicle, making the cost $34,500 but the car had a new MSRP of $38,000 so the dealer can easily bury all the negative equity onto that vehicle and the bank will probably finance that negative equity on that vehicle because they will look at that vehicle as a 2014 model year with a MSRP of $38,000. That is the latest year or model available at this time, the 2015's are not out yet. You cannot bury much negative equity onto a brand new car without HUGE rebates and incentives...many times you can basically refinance bad debt, negative equity, at a lower interest rate, which is always a good thing. But ultimately, one of two things has to happen eventually....you either have to keep the vehicle until it is actually worth what you owe on it, as above, you now own a 2014 edge with 9000 miles on it and you owe $34500 on it and it is worth $28000 at auction or you got to "come up shootin' my friend and pay off your negative equity in cash or as a down payment to get everything back into check. I always liked to buy a new car when they are "early releases" to bury negative equity into. For example you can buy let's say a 2016 model year MKX when they come out in hopefully August. That means you can drive that car for approximately 16 months before it is at least in the banks eyes as well as a used car value appraisals 1 year old and its value drops to coincide with the age of the vehicle.
  4. I would think so, but am not certain. I know that they will "stockpile" built units until a mass shipping to dealers takes place once they feel they have enough to not only start to cover ordered units, but also stock dealers with their first couple of unit was part of their allocation. That being said, when my 2011 edge sport was built, about the same VIN number actually, it was built in February and not released for delivery until August! This was due to them having to re-program all the units with MFT when it was introduced on that vehicle as their were quality or software issues. As my vehicles are management incremental lease vehicles, my unit got pushed to the "back of the bus" so to speak so I recieved it late. I am sure that they will take their time and get it right. This is the still one of the newer all new, redesigned vehiclesfor ford since Marc Fields has taken the reigns the others being the F-150 and the mustang. But also understand that Alan Mulally's name are all over these vehicles as they were deigned and committed to under his leadership. Sort of like a new coach inheiriting a previous coaches' draft picks. As I mentioned, I will keep posting as I get info.
  5. I just recieved an email that my Titanium was built and my VIN ends in 4654, not the first one I will update as I will get an email when vehicle has cleared for shipping from assembly plant to world headquarters in Dearborn.
  6. I just received an email that my Titanium has been built. My VIN number ending in 4654. I will update as I hear info regarding shipping as I will get an email when vehicle clears for shipping from assembly plant to world HQ in Dearborn.
  7. It is common practice to make sure that all the tires match and have good tread left when turning a lease vehicle. Even if you have 2 new sets of tire on the car, let's say 2 new michelins on the front and 2 new pirellis on the back, at lease turn in time, you will be penalized and billed for 2 new tires regardless of condition all 4 must match make and model of tire. So possibly he had 1 tire that was below the tread wear acceptable limit and rather getting billed for a new tire by the bank, which is more than retail believe me, he went ahead and bought a new tire. I believe this is exactly what happened especially when you mention that the vehicle went directly to auction. Many banks now inspect the returned vehicles "on-site" at auction by an alleged "third party inspection person" basically this person is looking to protect the bank and will chargeback any little thing that they can to the customer. Rather tha. Take a chance at at auction where the person who leased the vehicle is NOT present at time of vehicle dins pectin, the owner just put a new tire on it to be sure. If you track most used cars, you will see it auction quickly after it was turned in,..that is just the way it today, very few dealers will keep the vehicles they keep on trade in for very long, they simply run through the "hoop" as used cars prices are high through the auction right now and have been since the "cash for clunkers" program sponsored by the government. That program literally removed the entire classification or group of vehicles that used to buy for $3500 to $6000. That made all other used vehicle prices go through the roof and they remain there currently. Just look at what you get for $10,000 now...a car with 80,000 miles. It wasn't like that before. If you like the car....buy it! It is your car not any else's. Use the carfax as a tool not the bible, many service locations do not input any info when a vehicle gets serviced but people look at that carfax like it is the "last word". Use carfax to really see if the vehicle was in an accident, that was reported, many aren't, if it was a flood vehicle or if the airbags were deployed. Those issues to me are the most important. All the other stuff is sunjective at best, but you can get a picture of the overall vehicle condition, look at the wear of the seats, the carpet, preset radio stations also give you a sense of who had the vehicle previously....
  8. I had a 2011 sport with the Pirelli 22's. I drive over 40k year, a lot of highway obviously, but city as well as I am I sales. A couple of things I noticed about those tires...anything over 30k is a bonus as far as wear is concerned. I am part of the ford manangement incremental lease program, so all my maintenance is free of charge including tires, I servie the hell out of the vehicle every oil change, regular service interval the vehicle gets whatever it needs. I needed tires at 31k all 4 new pirellis and of course no one stocks them even ford or Lincoln dealers. I probably could have kept theM Longer but in Michigan and Ohio, when the tread is "borderline" replacement, you need to replace the tires due to the snow and ice here. Ford agreed and replaced all the tires. I have never in my life, seen tires that picked up nails and screws like these pirellis did. I was always getting a TPMS light on and sure enough I had picked up a nail or screw. Most times the tires could be plugged. I did hit a chuck hole on the free way and it blew out both right side tires at the same time. No rim damage, but the I had to get 2 new tires. I later picked up a nail on a tire right where the sidewall meets the tread....couldn't be plugged or patched and had to get 1 brand new tire. So I would say from my own experience with these tires and the vehicle, that seeing 1 newer tire, as long as it matches the others is no big deal...I wouldn't say that it "flags" the vehicle as repo. Also, as these tires are very rarely in stock, possibly the owner "HAD" to get back on the road ASAP and had the dealer put on an un matching tire....I would be more concernedw if I saw that the rim was damaged than if the tire was different. Also after hitting that chuckhole, I had to have the vehicle alighted again...just made sense after a jolt like that...just my 2 cents. I was surprised how well these tires did in the snow for an aggressive tread and type tire. I never had any problems with them getting traction.
  9. My edge titanium was supposed to be built last week, pre-job 1. Management incremental lease. I didn't recieve an email saying that it was built, but I am hoping to get one early this week. I will let everyone know when I do in fact get that email of actual Bulls date and I will have my VIN number then as well.
  10. If you can look close enough, on the bottom left hand corner of the sticker the last line of type lists a "tag" number as well as a name, mcaulfield. This is what shows up on our management lease vehicles, my wife's "tag number" and her name. So this vehicle was built specifically for "caulfield". Now I don't know who "caulfield" is, but I think they are pretty high up in the Ford chain. If so, maybe they have his name affixed to "all" show vehicles to run or produce the unit. I couldn't see enough of the other window stickers to see if others were listed the same way. Down in the vehicle added options sections of the sticker, I did see the 21" tire and wheel package listed....almost like a step backwards that was as added cost, being shown right on the sticker. Also, I know that they have in the past, used vehicles that were designated as "show cars only" as the the sticker does say "not for sale" and these vehicles get moved around the car show circuit from city to city. Years ago, I remember when Olds came out with the Cutlass convertible early '80's I think, with the "roll bar" across the car remember? I was in the car business at the time and I had a customer who was willing to pay ANYTHING for "that specific" car. I called the zone rep and made some inquiries. He said they would sell it to us/him but he would not be very happy with it......it had no engine! Sometimes though, I know that the actual "show vehicles" are made available to local dealers to put into their inventory. I would be very interested to see if this is an actual Ford employee vehicle, "Caulfield" or not.
  11. Did anyone else notice in the Sport video, that when the camera panned the window sticker, it listed 22" polished aluminum wheels....they aren't even available on the Sport anymore, biggest option is 21" and they are painted....I would think that someone would have checked this aspect especially in downtown Detroit at this show. Even the tires when the camera is focused on them says 21"....just sayin.......personally I think there should be at least (2) available bigger wheel packages, maybe one "blacked out" and one traditional chrome or polished, it's not like they are giving these packages away....
  12. I think I am that guy. Yes I have a build date for next week on my Titanium. As you stated, I am part of Ford MAnagement Lease. Interesting point about the wheels. When I ordered my edge, August 31, I had to order by midnight, there was basically zero info available to me. As I went through the Ford internal ordering portal, I could get the 20" tire/wheel package as an option. But, the 20" rims that I have received a build confirmation from Ford on states that the rims are "polished aluminum" not painted with mangetic pockets as they are stated in the order guide today. Apparently, in the early build units, they can/will use other than "final" parts/options. I am not a fan of the "painted or black rims" and that is why i ordered the 20's because they were only polished not painted or blacked out. Personally, unless you are on an actual racetrack or behind the wheel of a Z 06 at mid Ohio, I think those rims look terrible. Maybe I am old school, but give me "chrome" baby every day of the week. I loved my 22's on my 2011 edge sport. A classy, aggressive, semi-modern look, but when cleaned up, you see those things coming from a mile away. My dad always told me when I was kid, no matter how big of a piece of crap your car is, always make sure that your wheels and tires are clean and the car looks like a million bucks! However, now at 50 I realize cleaning can only go so far....I washed my 16 year old son's '99 Corolla and that was apparent!
  13. I don't think that resale values will be affected at all.....all the nada books and residual values are based on whether it has navigation or not, not the generation of electronics.... Secondly, with the price of these vehicles today, the only way or reason that I believe that anyone would ever BUY these overpriced, depreciating assets, that will NEVER go up in value would be if that buyer is planning on driving it until the wheels come off. Even at an interest rate of 0%, at which point why would you put any money down as you are getting "free" money, the monthly payment is still much higher than most are willing to pay. In my opinion as well as economics 101, says that you should NEVER BUY anything that DEPTECIATES. we buy homes, they used to increase in value, but you get my point. And besides, for me there are always going to be monthly payments that I will have until I die..1) mortgage...by the time I get close to paying off my home, I will be ready to move to Florida and retire, 2)Alimony....need I say more and 3) Car payments. Plus most leases through the manufactures have inflated residual values, which makes it easier to drive a more expensive car for less money than when you buy it, also your maintenance costs are typically lower on a lease as you will probably not have to replace the brakes for example by lease turn in. If you absolutely love it at lease end, buy it the for the residual value or hand the keys over to the salesman and pick out your new car after 2 or 3 years not 5 or 6 years with 100k on it....what is anything worth at that point anyway? If you are concerned about "resale value" lease it. Let the bank worry about what they will get at auction and not have it your problem. But if you like the car, get it. You can always come out of a lease early especially within the same manufacturer, don't wait for something to "get better" because you NEVER KNOW FOR SURE what "better" may be....it could be worse, could change before it even happens. We will probably never see interest rates as low as these right now, take advantage of it if you can, it can and will only get worse from here forward.
  14. Great question....i dont know...my wife works for Ford and I am on her executive spouse lease program. We ordered the vehicle in September thru Ford's internal website...didnt have much to go on, just some very vague descriptions of packages, equipment, etc. Usually they give us a key at the end that will calculate the payment for us, but there was no pricing whatesover...not that the pricing really means anything anyway....for example on this program, I am driving currently a 2014 Lincoln MKS, sticker $52,000.00 for $412.00/month with "unlimited" mileage, I have 38k on it now I got it last January, includes ALL maintenance both scheduled and unscheduled (brakes, tires, windshields, everything) and also includes full coverage insurance. All I do is put gas in it. They tend to get us into these New release vehicles even befiore they hit the dealerships I think to get some exposure on the road as well as "real world" feedback. I had my second generation Edge Sport 2 months before anyone else had one. I was constantly asked "what is that a BMW? Must have been the 22's on that bad boy. But that car my payment monthly was $385.00. So I guess to answer your question, preobably not more than $400.00/month for 12-15 months whenever Ford says I need to get into another car. When I ordered the 2015 Edge I was allowed to get a new Fusion, MKZ, MKC or Edge. I chose the Edge. I drive about 40k a year and prefer a heavy feeling vehicle. The Edge is nice for all the driving that I do. I would have ordered the Sport, but I wanted a Light colored interior this time, getting tired of the black interiors and the silver exterior that I always get. In order to get a light interior I had to order the Titanium as theSport only comes in black interior. I ordered the Magnetic Matallic and the Soft Ceramic Leather Perferated leather, 20" polished aluminum wheel package and the 302 package with the roof. Basically everything you could get in the vehicle. With the great pricing that I am fortunate to have, why not get everything? My excitement is building to finally see this baby. Very few pictures available online at this point. I am going to a Pre Detroit Auto Show Ford unveiling this weekend. I assume that the Edge as well as the F-150 will be there as Marc Fields speaks about Ford going forward this year.
  15. Agreed. I have never updated or re-programmed at home...always thru a dealer. For example, I am currently driving a 2014 Lincoln MKS and am having problems with the system. It doesn't hold settings such as ambient lighting. This has been "fixed" by both Ford and Lincoln dealers 3 times in the last 6 months. The last 3 vehicles I have had have had these issues. 2010 Edge Sport, 2013 Escape Titanium, and my current vehicle 2014 Lincoln MKS. I am very fortunate to be able to get a new car about every 12 to 14 months thru Ford Management Lease program. Especially with the new release of vehicles, we are asked to fill out surveys about the vehicle. I am looking forward to the next generation of Sync. As I mentioned,mi should here about a delivery date for my 2015 around the first of February.
  16. My scheduled build date is the last week of January. I don't have a VIN number yet to see where this unit is in the initial run. Based on that, I would imagine MPG numbers any day now
  17. Regarding EPA MPG numbers for the Edge, I would have to figure that Ford is the hold-up here. They had a debacle with the MPG numbers for the Escape when it first came out....My mileage was so bad, that the Ford Powertrain and Transmission Engineers actually put a "Black Box" in my car to try and figure it out....This was a huge a problem to where a Task Force Team would meet every morning from around the world via teleconferencing, including Marc Fields to try and figure it out. I dont know if they did in fact fix the issue, as I turned in the Escape before any remedy of the issue was brought to my attention. The 2.0 Ecoboost that I had, got worse mileage than my 3.7l Sport edge! both in the city as well as the highway. Ultimately, I believe that Ford got into some trouble with the EPA becasue of this. I would think that because of this issue, that Ford is waiting until the last possible minute to disclose this info as they continue to test internally to make sure that their numbers are infact attainable and not "pie-in-the-sky" wishes. Some issue come from switching suppliers for parts midstream during the production run. Might be a $5.00 part that causes the breakdown of performance so I would think that they are being very, very careful. Not to mention, that this as well as the F-150 are first 'NEW" releases by Marc Fields, since Mullaly has stepped down and I am positive that "he" wants nothing to go wrong as all the shareholders hold their breath for both of these vehicle launches. My 2015 Edge Titanium is scheduled to be built the last week of this month. Hopefully I will take delivery "pre launch" as I have in the past with my vehicles, wife works at HQ. I will post 'Printed MPG Estimates" vs "real-world numbers" when I do take delivery.
  18. Based on "an update can be updated at any time" comment, I have had a new vehicle every year since the 2010 edge came out with the Sync system. I can honeslty say that I have had no less than 15 software upgrades/repairs/reprogramming of these systems and not one has worked!!! the dealers are about as educated in these upgrades/reprograming processes as I am. I have even taken my Ford Vehicles to Lincoln dealers who I know personally and they too could not get the problems resolved with their re-programming. I hate to say it, but all those who folow the "Bluye Oval" already know that this Sync system is killing the manufacturers overall qulaity sciores and rightfully so in my opinion. So when someone says "it can be upgrades or re-porgramed later" i take that to mean that I will drive my 2015 Edge until my 2016 vehicle arrives with the sasme software and programming as what it is delivered with. My build date for my 2015 Edge Titanium is the last week of the month, january. Upon delivery, I will update as to my impressions of the "new" system.
  19. Just received an email from ford saying that my 2015 Titanium is scheduled to be built the week of January 26, 2015!!! Hopefully I will see it by the end of Feb as an early release for Ford and their "managmenent incremental lease" members... My 2011 sport was built in March and not released / delivered to me until October....due to "quality" issues....hopefully there will not be many issues as the launch will only go as fast as they can make sure that there will be no issues upon dealer delivery / sales (ie. technology issues
  20. I saw what looked an order guide somewhere on this forum. Maybe it was in the sport blog. Anyway, I had to order the vehicle directly through the Ford Management lease portal. Very limited on info that was provided even though I waited until the last day to order it. Normally they at least show you color swatches and pics of the wheels/rims. This time there was nothing. Basically ordering "sight unseen". I did however see the color combo, Magnetic Gray and Soft Ceramic on a 2015 fusion in a dealer's lot. It looked very classy. I couldn't get into the vehicle, to see up close, but the pics that I have seen online of the Soft Ceramic are almost "white". It was hard to tell how light the interior really is. It is noticeably lighter than the "sand" from what I can tell.
  21. I think the new color of magnetic gray will look awesome in this vehicle. I have had 2 sports before and loved them but this time around I didn't want sliver again. I also wanted a lighter interior which the sport does not offer. Will ford ever offer the sport in a lighter interior? I understand the marketing behind having only 1 choice, but I think that the same interior possibly in the light sand on the sport would be well be received. As much as I really wanted the 2015 sport I had to pass and order a titanium in magnetic gray instead. I would have liked the 2.7, but I wanted the lighter interior, and also needed a tow package this time around. My wife works for ford here in mi at WHQ and I was able to order it thru ford directly. Build date in March....allegedly...we'll see. My 2011 sport was supposed to be delivered in June of 2010, it was built in May, but I didn't see it until October. I ordered the magnetic gray with the new soft ceramic leather interior and 20" polished alum wheels. I noticed in the now available order guide, that the wheels that I selected are not offered. Probably using up old inventory I would guess. None the less, I am looking forward to the next generation of the edge! I drive over 40k year and love the way it rides, a very heavy feeling vehicle especially on the highway. I drove a new escape for about a year nd hated every minute of it....too small, too light, I did not like it at all especially after coming out of my last edge sport into that.
  22. i have the sport previously, loved it. why doesnt ford allow the sport to come in the gray or for 2015 magnetic color? i think this would awesome in the sport version with the beefed up tire/wheel package. I am tired of the silver and black is not for me, too much driving would always be dirty. plus i wanted a lighter interior this time around so I ended up ordering a loaded up Titanium model in Magnetic with the soft ceramic interior and polished alumuinum wheels. should be sharp. my wife works for ford here in MI at WHQ so i already ordered it thru Ford directly. Build date is in march.
  23. I have a 2011 sport here in cleveland, took delivery last October and then we had the 3rd worst winter in history here. I am am in sales and already have 30K on the sport. I stayed w/original tires and wheels during winter and had no problems whatsoever. basically comes down to this...if you have tires with good tred and don't drive like an idiot, you'll be fine. Heck I learned to drive on a 1972 Cutlass w/rear wheel drive and bald tires like most people my age, 46, we didn't have front wheel drive back then. I was also surprised at how well the rims heald up against the road salt, potholes etc. that we have here. My Sport is FWD only and in my travels, it I can't get around town with my car, than AWD isn't going to work either. I traded a 2010 limited for this Sport......Sprot runs circles aroubd the Ltd in all aspects of drivabilty, handling, braking and not to mention all the comments from people asking "those aren't factory wheels are they?" Try to drive both I guess and always budgets are a concern. I love this car and will order another in late 2012
