"Clunk" sound when turning

Recommended Posts

So I noticed this noise when turning dating back to last fall actually. A lady backed into my front passenger side wheel in a parking lot and didn't seem to do any damage. Later while driving I noticed a loud clunk sound when turning, both ways! It usually happens when I have to make sharp or quick turns where the wheel is turned fairly far. I thought maybe the problem would go away but it hasn't. It hasn't gotten any worse but hasn't gotten better either. When I had it up at a Ford dealer for some other work, they said they couldn't replicate the problem....I drove it home and it happened at least a couple times. The problem helper on NTB.com said it could be any of these things: 1) Loose/worn tie rod ends 2) Worn or dry ball joints 3) Axle assembly failure... I have no knowledge or experience with this area so can anyone help or has anyone had this problem? I would greatly appreciate it. I need new tires before winter so I'll ask them to check it out but I don't want to get ripped off either.....Thanks!

So the sound has greatly decreased since I recently had an alignment last weekend. I have only heard it a few times compared to multiple times a day like before. But it still occurs....the guy said my alignment was really far off to the right so I thought maybe something was just rubbing but it's still happening while my car doesn't pull or anything anymore....The problem has been helped but not completely fixed :angry22:
