Removing Chrome Trim near LTD Windows?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to remove the chrome trim near the windows on a LTD? I'm gathering up information on dealing with all of the chrome as I'm planning on buying a 2013 limited here in the next two weeks. I plan on plasti-dipping the grill and wheels (would actually prefer the SEL Appearance Wheels, but don't want to pay for an extra set of wheels). However, I'm not sure of the best way to deal with the extra chrome around the exterior.

One thing I've learned is to buy what you want from the get go. If you like the appearance package see if you can swing it somehow. I'm so happy I got the deal on the Sport that I did because it's exactly what I wanted. I Wouldn't have been happy keeping my 2008 limited and trying to make a sport out of it, neither would I have been happy getting a 2011 limited and trying to make a sport either.

Edgieguy, while I agree with purchasing the thing that you want, I am conflicted because I prefer the technology of the LTD, I do like the appearance of the SEL with the "upgraded" exterior. I am content to black-out or 'dip the features of the LTD that I dislike. In this case I think it would be easier to modify the exterior of the LTD than it would be to increase the tech level of the SEL. The price that I am at currently also gets me in an LTD for ~$2.5k more than an SEL, so I'm swayed by that to boot.

Thanks for the advice though! Just gives me more opportunity to tinker!

Symbasys: I think I will end up just plasti-dipping the features that I find too ostentatious. Not really a big deal, just some work. I may have to try working with the dealer to get a line of rims, but we'll see how receptive they are to the idea.
