Exhaust install

Recommended Posts

post-650-1191873386_thumb.jpgOK......i hope this works. I have measeured and measured and this should work. Going to install a saleen center exhaust system onto my edge. I order the exhaust this friday and will let you guys now how it goes. I have yet to see this done on an edge.....so i am giving it a shot. Saleen makes oustanding performance parts, and although they have nothing for the edge, i can customize this too fit. I will do most of this myself and will have to make new hangers but this should sound bad as___ when i finish. Below is the exhaust i am getting. I will have to adjust the mufflers of course and shorten a few tubes....but it will look great......i hope. Wish me luck fellow edgers.post-650-1191873367_thumb.jpg Oh, and the small exhaust outlets you see coming from the mufflers...those are dump valves, few more horses on full throttle and a deeper sound. A saleen invention.

Good hands i was thinking the same thing....but i think i can get those to incorporate into the rear valance/bumper pretty good. I am having a custom aftermarket body installer remove the rear bumper/valance and custom form an exhaust opening. But i am picky at making every thing look like factory, so they will do a good job, they know how i am. I think someone will say on here...why....i will say, because it is different. I am putting another pic on my post of what the rear will hopefully look like.

Ahhhh...so the exhaust will be surrounded by the skirt/valance?

Now....I'm definitely feeling that one.

I was reading and at first was like... "ehhh, I dunno..."

Then when you said you're gonna have the rear skirt/valence/whatever customized for the exhaust... well, I too am feeling it.

If done well it should be something.

I don't know what all will be involved in this but it has a pile of potential!

I'm looking forward to seeing the end result :shades:

Here's a pic similar to what SALEENS7 was having trouble posting:

(the diffuser isn't part of the exhaust, fyi)

EDIT: Good Hands beat me to it. And without a diffuser too. I stand humbled ;)

Filmoe, my wheels are 22" luciano ($350 ea). And my tires are general uhp's, 305/40-22's.(from the tire rack, $178 ea) The ride is great. The tread is quite deep so u will hear about a 10% increase in road noise. After 2 weeks though, i do not even notice it. I suggest though u go with a 35 instaed of 40 series tire. My rear tires make a very slight rub into the plastic shielding inside the tire well at around 50 mph when hitting a pretty good bump (speed bump, railroad tracks). It does no damage to my edge...it is just annoying. I went with the 40 series because they want another $200 ea for a 35 series tire. I was hoping when i bought them that 40 would be ok. It is, but the rubbing will annoy u so spend the extra dough and get 35 series tires. Hope this helps.
