Trouble getting a part in

My MKX has been laid-up at the dealership for 4 weeks now. A seal went in the transmission system and they haven't been able to get a new one in yet.

4 weeks is a long time for a brand new car to be out of commision.

Anyone else have a similar experience or have I just had bad luck?

My car has been in the shop for about 2 weeks due to a seal with the transfer case. It was leaking causing a crazy smell. My dealer told me to talk to Ford. I requesed a buyback with the intermitent problems I have with it. I hope to get an 08 but well see. Doesnt seem to be many problems with the car other than the early production ones which got. My slip stated my car was made in August of 06. They did finally get the seal in though and have spent the last 2 days taking apart the transfer case and putting the seal in. Wont be done till at least Monday they say. Good times.

I have a call in to Ford to see what they have to say. I might press them for a warranty replacement. Since its been a month and they can't tell me when they can fix it, to me thats the same as saying they can't fix it.

Shouldn't happen with a 3 month old car, but I can understand that it's just one of those things. Were they've failed in my case is not being able to get the part to correct it.

Otherwise, I like my MKX.

I have a 2008 mkx that has the same seal problem. I was told by the service mgr. that Ford doesn't have any in stock and that there is a backorder of 500. They were able to locate one at another dealer replaced the part and repaired the problem. Trouble is they damaged the seal putting it in and instead of leaking trnsmission fluid, gear oil was leaking onto the exhaust causing such a smell you could sit in the car. I have 2500 miles on the car its been out of service for 7 working days.

Well, I had that same smell also. So, they talked to Ford and now they are telling them to replace the whole transfer case since just the seal cant be replaced or something. The car is going to be in the shop from 20-35 days in the last 2 months. Not happy. The transfer case is also on backorder for who knows how long. Ill keep everyone updated.

I'm having the exact same problem with my Ford Edge. They tell me that they expect the part next Tuesday, Dec. 18th. I don't believe them. Something is up. This will be a recall I bet, but I'm out my car for a week and a half at best. Ford customer service is no help at all.

Anything that can be done to be compensated at all?

I bet this has to do with the AWD. This is the first winter that the car has been really tested. Last winter was pretty tame.
