dmozer74 Posted July 24, 2015 Report Share Posted July 24, 2015 I just bought a used 2008 edge limited with the audiophile system. It's lacking in clarity. I added a JL acp108lg and changed out the front speakers for some JL 5x7s. Now I find the system lacking in midbass. I've disconnected the factory sub, and now I'm going to reconnect it to see if it helps. My thought is to find a new 8" midbass driver on a budget, put that in place of the factory sub and have a nicely rounded system on a modest budget. Any thoughts or suggestions on this idea? Swapping the factory sub for a midbass will gain nothing -- as it's still only going to send the same frequencies that your sub had. I'd think about adding an aftermarket amp to power your front speakers, and power a different sub in the stock enclosure (after beefing it up).
