Flyedge Posted September 9, 2019 Report Share Posted September 9, 2019 I recently purchased a 2011 Edge Limited, with factory HID lights, and being unfamiliar with xenon headlights I have a few questions. When the bulbs turn on, they have almost a “shimmer” effect to them (the light appears to dance around when viewed against a wall), and after a minute or two, one or both headlights will go out. Turning the selector to off, and back to on or auto will bring the lights back for a few minutes. Do these symptoms tend to point to a bad ballast, or bulb itself? I have seen the shimmering you mention when they are warming up but if they go out some time after, it's definitely a bad ballast.
