Auto Control Assistance Explanation Needed ...

Recommended Posts

Need some assistance on the auto control please ?  I start my 2017 Edge SEL with the fob in the early morning. Auto control is set to 72 degrees. Once inside the vehicle  I look at the control panel see the inside temp set at the 72 degrees and the outside temp is at 55 degrees. Why is my a/c light on? I am getting heat but do not understand why the a/c is on and stays on. See picture. Click to enlarge. Still under warranty for next 6 months. Thanks

You can use your a/c with the heat on, it helps get rid of the moisture. With the settings you have selected, it automatically turns on the a/c to get the inside air temp to 72 degrees, whether the outside temp is 40 degrees or 90 degrees.

If you're worried the having the heat on with the a/c will cause damage, you're not going to do any harm. It's perfectly normal. I do it all the time with my 2010 E-350 work truck & our 2016 SEL.
