Issues with Sync 2 to 3.4 upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I have a 2014 Edge Sport and recently put in the APIM and USB ports for a Sync 3 system.  I input the ab data into Forscan and for the most part everything works.  I am having issues with the following though and was wonder if anybody had any advice.  Also, everything worked fine with the Sync 2 unit before I took it out

  1. The mic is no longer works.  I can hit the button on the steering wheel and it brings up the voice prompt, but it doesn't recognize my voice when I give it a command.  I tried the factory reset and changing the ringer to phone like I found online, but still nothing.  Nobody can hear me when I make calls using bluetooth or Android Auto.
  2. The clock won't stay set.  I updated the APIM 7D01-0101 to xxx9 xxxx xxxx and this allowed the main screen to at least let me set the time (before it would reset after a few seconds), but when I power off and back on the time resets.  Also, the dash display time doesn't sync to the touch screen display.
  3. Factory Nav screen displays black.  I assume this is probably due to poor antenna placement, maybe?  I plan on tearing everything back out and moving the antenna around to see if that helps. Also, could that be why the time won't stay synced?  Is it trying to pull the time from GPS?

Just for clarification, I know the unit worked prior to me installing it. I got it from my BIL and he had it in his Flex and it worked fine.  Now I didn't replace the actual CD player.  Or I did, but I put the original back in because I had no sound in the car at all even after updating the APIM with the ab file.  I've also pulled the negative terminal and let it sit, and did a factory reset on the unit, still having the above issues.  Any help is appreciated.
