08 Edge Transmission Etc.. Issue

Stooks

Recommended Posts

I have looked through the forum and didn't find one that related directly to my issue, so I am hoping someone can relate and help.

Had the transmission flushed/serviced some time ago, probably due again but nothing changed doing it the first time. This issue has been going on now for about a year and I have learned to try and avoid traffic when I can.

Car drives fine normally other than it has lost the peppy power and has a vibration when at idle almost like it needs a tune up. When you get in stop-go traffic like on interstate when your giving slight gas and immediately letting off and hitting brake and then going again is when the issue starts. The engine RPM revs up (5000-6000) while pressing on gas but car is barely moving and then the clunk hard into 2nd gear. Sometimes it doesn't rev high but just a delayed very hard clunk shift. After your through the traffic itsl drives fine. No lights on dash have come on, odometer is fine, airbag light is fine, no check engine or wrench. A few months ago it went in for the gas tank strap recall and a few days later the gas cap light came on, new gas cap doesn't turn light out though. Took to dealer and worry I am getting the run around. Tech didn't drive it like I explained but tech said he feels some slipping but I don't feel it in normal driving conditions so not sure what he is feeling. When I asked about codes they told me the battery cable was worn and they lost connection with computer and lost all data but today tells its the transmission and needs replaced. I was going to have the trottle body and injectors serviced but now I don't know what to do. Any suggestions if the trottle body and TPS could be causing the transmission issue or does it sound like something else. 180k miles. Any help would be appreciated since I am just not ready to trash the car just yet if I can help it. TIA
