5.5 or 6 qt?

  1. 1. Do you use 6 full quarts on an oil change, or do you keep that .5 quarts for use next time with a 5 qt jug?

    • 5.5 quarts hold .5 for top off later or next oil change.

My older vehicles, once they got some miles on them and would burn oil, I would add that extra pint or 2 to make it to the very top of the fill line so I could go the 5,000 miles without adding, but not there yet I hope with 66,000 miles and 4 years.

 

But 5.5 quarts takes mine to between the top of the cross hatched area and the upper hole that would fill in, so don't think that added .5 quart would be wise.
