Ford edge 2011 sometimes compressor engaging and sometimes not

My ac sometimes cold sometimes also its like a fan only

I went to ac repair shop yesterday they can't find the problem and 1 guy he tried to press the high pressure pin to release some pressure and suddenly the compressor engaging 

 

Any ideas how it happen

He said that if the compressor is not engaging but my car sometimes engage sometimes not.

Sometimes the relay will not work correctly all of the time.

If the relay is intermittent, then this will solve your problem cheaply,

as there is no easy way for most to test it other than substitution.

 

As a side note, I always had extra switches, relays in one drawer

of my tool box just for this kind of problem.

I know this is an old post, but I am having similar issues with my AC. With my 2011 Edge,  the AC blows cold but there is a whining noise with acceleration when the AC is on and it stops with the AC off. Would this be the clutch, pulley, or the internal components of the compressor? Are there any other fixes to try prior to replacing the compressor if it is the internal pats of the compressor. Like a AC flush, clutch relay, or a pressure release?
