[2022] Ford Edge: Dealer wanting to charge me for an issue that is clearly caused by the recall

Recommended Posts

The recall states:

"On your vehicle, the infotainment screen may freeze followed by a black screen and a system reboot. If this occurs during a backing event, the rear-view image may be frozen, missing, or delayed.
Safety Risk
A frozen rear-view camera display an image while in reverse can create a false representation of where the vehicle is relative to its surroundings, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
When the remedy is available, Ford Motor Company will send a letter to inform you to contact your dealer to schedule a repair. The remedy is anticipated to be available in the third quarter of 2025."

Couple days ago while reversing, my infotainment screen froze and then went to black screen and then rebooted and then kept doing this. Now its just shows black screen and reboots and then black screen again. I cant use my AC/HEAT/REAR VIEW CAM etc..I went to the dealership and they charged me 200 dollars to look at it and then told me that they have to replace the APIM for 2400$. My vehicle is at 68k kilometers as my work commute is long so i have no warranty. I showed them this recall and they just said it’s not related and that the recall is not ready. I take very good care of my vehicle and this is hearbreaking to see how I have to pay so much for this that should be fixed by the recall.

What can I do about this? Will other dealers be able to help me?Will I even be able to get this fixed under the recall?
