guruabyss
Hello, I came across this after my windows stopped working in my Ford Edge 2014: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzBeVSUFUbk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbRzxrV7vp0 I tried to solder the broken metal connector but was unable to fit it back into the plastic holder after. I'm going to have to cut the broken connector off, strip the wire, reconnect to another wire that has a new metal connector. Questions: 1) Is there away to find out 100% if the blue wire is 14 AWG? 2) The open barrel connector that was attached to the blue wire, it's not a Ford proprietary thing is it? How can I find the exact type? I'm a noob trying to learn. Thank you for any help you can give!
johnmarkp
You can get the connector and or a repair pigtail from Ford at a very steep price. That connector and the connection pins are commercially available. The problem is figuring out who made the connector. I start out by getting the Ford part number from the wiring diagram and searching for that number. Often an ad will tell you the part number for the manufacturer of the connector. A lot of them are made by Molex. The listing on for connector on sites like Digikey will tell you the connection pins that fit into the connector. I tried searching for a Ford Edge 2014 wiring diagram PDF. I found this site https://free-auto-repair-manuals.com/2006-2014-ford-edge-wiring-diagrams/ Looking under "Power Windows > Power Windows Circuit" which takes me to https://free-auto-repair-manuals.com/wp-content/uploads/PDF/Ford/107000001419.pdf I don't know if that's the one I'm looking for plus the resolution is from 1994. What specific wiring diagram am I looking for? What would be a good free website that has PDF diagrams?
enigma-2
Goto your local Ford parts counter and let him look it up. Plus they may have the replacement connector with wires in stock. (I was able to get a headlight connector with wires from a Chrysler dealer years ago. They told me they usually stock these to fix melted connectors.)
