22 ST and PTU does not have a cooler, only a plug?

So I changed out the RDU, PTU and transmission fluids this week as I hit 30,000 miles.  I did the RDU myself thanks to the help of posts on this forum.  I had Ford points, so I had the dealer do the PTU and transmission today.  I've used this dealer for a while and bought a lot of cars there, so they pamper my whims a little bit.  I asked to see the PTU and the studs and if they were going to change them out as Ford recommends.  I had been under the car before and saw the PTU cooler studs, but noticed today I don't have the cooler at all, just a plug it appears.  I thought that after 2019 as others posted on here, they actually had the cooler, but my 22 doesn't?  Seems odd to me.  I have attached a photo showing what appears to be just a plug to me.  Anyone else know about when this was supposed to be changed to the actual cooler, or have a 22 without a cooler as well.  I'm in Phoenix, so our heat is a big deal.  I was thinking the cooler would help a little.

As a side note, I changed the RDU myself and only got about 22 ounces out of it when the specs say it holds 28 plus/minus an ounce.  I'm glad I did because it came out completely black, and a lot of sludge stuck to the magnet on the drain plug.  I got 26 ounces back in it before it started pouring out the fill cap, so that's all I could get back in.

Davidoo I have a 24 ST and mine does have the cooler with the hoses and electric motor that circulates the engine coolant through the PTU.  My 21 ST had the same configuration. When you shut the vehicle off this electric motor continues to run and circulate coolant through the PTU to possibly help with heat soak. I climbed under the car after I shut It off and heard the electric motor running. I don't know how long it runs.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the studs. Ford wants to make as money as possible so of course they want them changed. They could probably be re used multiple times without any issue. Be sure to use blue Loctite and torque them to spec.

What I can't figure out is why your vehicle does not have the cooler. Also, I don't know how much the cooler helps as it takes circulates hot 200-degree coolant through the PTU. How hot does the PTU fluid get?

I think Ford attempted to do some last model year fixes to help the heat issues they had with the PTU? Just unsure why your model year did not have this mod.

One good thing, your setup allows to drain the PTU fluid easily,

Thanks STBEAST.  Yeah, I have seen photos of people with 20s and 21s with the cooler, yet I have a 22 without it?  I too wondered about the studs which is one reason I just had the dealer do it.  I talked to the tech that did the work and he said as the dealer, they are required to change them.  He said they are rated as only able to be torqued one time, but he thought you could use Loctite, but then he's had some where people used it and they had a real hard time getting them loose.  I didn't get a chance to see the fluid that came out, but the tech said that the RDU actually gets hotter than the PTU and I was wise to change that one as well.  Maybe just a placebo effect, but I swear the car runs smoother and quieter than before.  I should be set to 60,000 now.
